rookes Education Group was founded by a team of international educators who share the desire to deliver high-quality education accessible to youth around the world.
The Board of Directors develop schools that focus on the whole child through the rigors of academics, the balance of physical education and socio-emotional support. Each Board member encourages and truly believes in the limitless potential of every Brookes student. Through education, our governing board created a network of schools aiming to provide a global learning environment empowering the next generation of global change-makers who are not only confident and passionate in learning for themselves but are inspired to make a difference and help others. The Brookes board have extensive educational knowledge and experience gained from teaching and leadership roles with British Schools of America, Dwight Schools, and the United World Colleges as well as several leading global universities including Singapore Management University, University of British Columbia, University of Victoria, and Stanford University.

he Brookes International Preparatory Programme is a high quality course designed to successfully prepare students for acceptance and integration into the academic, cultural and social environments of international education.
The program is led by experienced English native speakers and will take place in China. The programme is available to small, selected groups of academically ambitious students who are keen to improve their use and understanding of English and to use it for further study in an international school or college environment. Brookes Education Group will deliver an international program offering students in China a gateway to a Brookes School and the opportunity to gain the academic requirements to progress into the International Baccalaureate (IB), A-levels and/or Advanced Placement (AP).

A
cademic leaders from Brookes Education Group will monitor the quality of teaching and learning, and the competency and training needs of any designated staff member through regular visits and also remotely.
Students involved in the Brookes International Preparatory Programme will also have access to Zoom classrooms to participate in synchronous Brookes lessons and they may also opt to attend summer school and residential programmes held regularly in Brookes Schools. Brookes Education Group will provide partner schools with the curriculum manual for the International Preparatory Programme. The curriculum is English as a Foreign Language (EFL) and English for Academic Purposes (EAP) with English for Specific Purposes (ESP) for academic subjects and the option to include a synthesis of specific International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP) modules taught locally (if required), study skills and other non EAP elements as indicated in the sample timetable below. The structure of the courses will be personalized to each school.

Project Management: Assessment Quality Control Course Guidelines
Assessment • Non-EAP subjects will follow standard local assessments/exams if appropriate and where MYP modules are mirrored, Brookes Education Group will engage an Academic Coordinator. • The main core is EAP based and will require formal IELTS final tests with regular internal assessments from the Programme Manager who will deliver the courses.
• Teaching medium: English with selected science subjects to be taught in Chinese • Teaching: Dependent on program demands and numbers
Quality Control
• Qualification awarded: Brookes IPP Certificate in addition to local China certificates if appropriate
The Brookes Programme Manager and Academic Coordinator will be responsible for monitoring the quality of programmes and assessment management.
• Entry requirement: Junior High school completion or Senior 1 and those with IELTS 5.5
Successful completion of the Brookes International Preparatory Programme will allow preferential entry into a Brookes school: USA, Canada, South Korea, United Kingdom, and Russia with possible scholarships.
• Exit requirements: 75% and 80% mark in Gao 1, J3 & IELTS 6.0 and those with IELTS 5.5 can be offered pre-session EFL at Brookes • Hours/week: To be determined by the school • Application deadline: To be determined by the school • Tuition fee: The cost of tuition would be decided by the host school and Brookes Education Group • Deposit Fee: Yes, will constitute a deposit for Brookes and follow-on course for the students aiming to study abroad • Minimum students per programme: as determined by the school’s financial model
Brookes Progression Brookes guarantees direct preparation and entry to an IB, A-level and/or AP program with a pre-session English as a Foreign language for students who do not reach 6.0 IELTS not reached. Brookes Education Group will guarantee progression (conditional offer) subject to exit grades Grades 10-12 with multiple study destinations: UK, USA, Canada, Korea, and Russia. Brookes Education Group will deliver conditional offer letters with precise exit requirements required at the beginning of Grade 11.
Guideline Entry Requirements • Age of the student will be dependent on school decisions. • Students will require an ambition to study abroad to follow the curriculum of either the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, Advanced Placement (AP) or GCSE program. • Each student should attain an IELTS score of 4.5 on entry with an expectation of achieving IELTS 6.0 on completion.

Host schools may wish to extend the collaboration by becoming a Brookes Affiliate School in which the programmes of the International Baccalaureate Diploma are made available to its students.
Jerry Salvador MA, BA HON. DIP ED. DIRECTOR AMERICAS DIRECTOR NEW SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT Jerry joined the Brookes Education Group as one of the co-founders of Brookes Shawnigan Lake. He is also the Founding Chairman of Dwight School Seoul. Jerry came to the group as a 28-year veteran of the prestigious United World Colleges movement where he was Dean of Studies, Director of Residence, and Assistant and Interim

Director at Lester B. Pearson College of the Pacific in Victoria, British Columbia. He has extensive knowledge of the International Baccalaureate Organization. As part of a UWC’s initiative, Jerry became

the Director of the Hermann Gmeiner SOS International College in Santa Ana, Costa Rica. This is a unique school designed to provide academically high achieving SOS orphans with the International Baccalaureate Diploma. Jerry’s role was to raise the academic standards of the school and to lead the IB Diploma authorization process. In turn, he initiated the process for Hermann Gmeiner SOS International School to become a United World College, currently UWC Costa Rica.
Susan (Yuqing) was one of the three co-founders of Brookes Shawnigan Lake in 2009. Prior to working in education, she embarked on her first major business venture by founding Silver Computing in 1995, a small company which later became the foundation for WebEx Communications. WebEx became a leading platform for corporate meetings which emphasized and fostered international relationships. When WebEx was acquired by Cisco Systems in 2007, Susan resigned as VP of Operations to pursue new projects in education. Following the same goal of fostering international relationships, Susan decided to build an international school in Silicon Valley. Her hope is that it will foster the entrepreneurial spirit amongst students, who will take the opportunity to develop their potential with a healthy appetite for learning, risk-taking, and global leadership.
Graham Brown
Kevin Skeoch BA HON, B.ED, MA DIRECTOR ASIA-PACIFIC With over twenty years of experience working with the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO), Kevin brings a network of positive relationships, extensive global experience, and optimistic and inspiring leadership to Brookes. Kevin has spent his entire career in the field of international education, beginning in 1991 as a teacher of English in Bratislava, Slovak Republic. After serving as a teacher, IB Diploma Coordinator, Vice-Principal, High School Principal and Deputy Director, he became Assistant Head of School at Dwight School London before being appointed to Seoul, Korea.
BA, MSC, PHD CEO Graham graduated with his doctorate from University of British Columbia in 2005, and spent four years in Singapore as Assistant Professor at Singapore Management University where he developed a model leadership program for the university. Graham returned to Canada in 2009 to help start Brookes Education Group, beginning with Brookes Shawnigan Lake, and has led the

expansion of the Brookes group to open new schools in Korea (2011), Cambridge (2015) and California (2017). Graham’s work in leadership has been at the foundation of the Brookes educational model. In 2012, Dr. Brown founded Powerful Youth and created the Global Leadership Academy to help students develop leadership and social entrepre- neurship skills so they can make a difference in their own communities.
David is a senior member and advisor of the Brookes Education Group. He has 30 years of international school experience, having taught in six different countries, and has served as Head of School in Germany, the US and the UK. He was part of the startup team of The British School of Houston, and was past Head of School of Dwight School London, an IB World School which also piloted the development of online IB
In addition to his work with Brookes and Powerful Youth, Graham is also an associate professor at the University of Victoria, Gustavson School of Business, where he teaches entrepreneurship. He is active in the community as a father of four, volunteer, and part time berry farmer.
Diploma courses. He was Chair of the London International Schools Association, a collaborative group comprising the major international schools in the UK and he has been involved in important projects aimed at bringing international education to Iraq and China. In 2009 he founded the highly successful Holmewood School London which provides specialist education for those with learning differences. David is an Independent Schools inspector (UK) and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
