All Things Good - Summer Exhibition at the Brook Gallery

Page 1

Angela Yarwood One of my favourite parts of owning Brook Gallery is the insight that one gets into an artist's work and better still the privilege of seeing what goes on behind the scenes. On my first trip to Mychael and Trevor’s studio, which they share in London. I looked out into their backyard and there was a well-used table tennis table. That for me epitomised the 'joie de vivre' that surrounds these two very special artists, the sense of which we will hope to bring to the gallery during the course of the exhibition. I am delighted to be able to show a selection of uplifting and inspiring original prints and paintings by both Mychael and Trevor together in this joint exhibition...bringing sunshine on the cloudiest of summer days!

Mychael Barratt PRE Born in Toronto, Canada, Mychael studied at the Symposium School of Art in Winnipeg followed by the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. He came to in England in 1984, and has lived and work in London ever since. Drawing on inspiration from sources as diverse as fairy tales and Shakespearean dramas to paintings by 'Great Masters' and 1960s pop culture, Mychael's prints reflect his passion for literature, theatre and film. He has exhibited extensively and has also won a number of awards. His work is held in various collections including the Ashmolean Museum, The British Library, The International Dispute Resolution Centre and the Victoria and Albert Museum. Mychael is the current President of the Royal Society of Painter Printmakers.

Trevor Price RE Trevor studied Printmaking at Falmouth College of Art and then Winchester School of Art. On leaving college he found work in a London etching studio, this being a hugely important time, learning the skills of professional printmaking in the way of an old fashioned apprenticeship. Trevor paints and specialises in drypoints and etchings, that are handmade and hand printed in his studios in London and St Ives. Exhibiting widely throughout Europe, he has won several national printmaking awards. His work is held in various collections including Guangdong Museum of Art in China, The Bank of England and Yale University. Trevor is the current Vice President of the Royal Society of Painter Printmakers.
