“My Walden CG3030CETB-IMIX is perfect for my New Age Percussive Fingerstyle. Even at very low tunings you can hear a wonderful characteristic Walden sound”
Dianji Estévez Caraballo Walden Artist in GERMANY Concorda CG3030CETB-IMIX owner
My music reflects my life. “With a great acoustic sound for the studio and the more intimate venues, the T550 is also small-bodied enough to avoid feedback issues when equipped with a pick-up and plugged in for the big stage. It is reliable, versatile and has a tone entirely its own - just what I've been looking for.”
Andres Roots Walden Artist in ESTONIA Natura T550 owner
“I like its raw tone a lot, bright and powerful and yet finger picks beautifully.”
Joe Brooks Walden Artist in UK SupraNatura G3030CEQ owner
So does my guitar. “What I like most about my Walden G3030CE is that the sound is very balanced and the appearance is very refined. Above all, it is a substantial purchase: the value we get is the quality that we do not pay any extra for!”
Rui Veloso Walden Artist in PORTUGAL SupraNatura G3030CEQ owner
my path • my dream • My Walden
Your music reflects your attitude and how you live your life. So does your guitar. Walden is an expression of the choices you make, choices that matter and make a difference. Playing a Walden says that you want more than just a great instrument. You also want a guitar that is built in a responsible and ethical way. Why choose Walden Guitars? It comes down to the details. How it was made. Who made it. Where the materials came from. Features and specifications you don't notice immediately because they are just right. The way your guitar looks and sounds — how it effortlessly responds to your touch — like a great guitar should. Responsibility. We do not outsource our manufacturing and our guitar shop is the only one in Asia with a certified 100% Pure Chain-of-Custody. Walden Guitars is also a member of The Forest Trust (TFT) and is committed to developing legal sourcing for all our materials. Through our partnership with TFT and by building guitars from certified woods, Walden supports the management of the world’s forests. Beauty is in the details you see. High-grade soundboards, Mahogany necks, and Indian Rosewood bridges and fingerboards guarantee rich, dynamic sounding guitars that improve the more you play. All bodies and necks are fully bound and incorporate the understated elegance of tasteful trim designs. Quality is in the details you don't see. Walden Natura and SupraNatura line guitars are coated with Nitrocellulose lacquer which opens up more and more as it cures and hardens, allowing your already great sounding guitar to sound better and better. Madera and Concorda line guitars feature a Polyester/Polyurethane high gloss finish, offering another great choice for Walden players. We build with traditional Lutherie woods and allow them to cure, dry and stabilize before transforming them into a Walden guitar in a humidity controlled environment. Inside each steel string instrument we incorporate a scalloped-X sprucebraced soundboard, bolt-on neck, and a 2-way adjustable truss rod. Fine instruments are a lifetime investment and our guitars will make this musical journey with you. In the following pages you will discover the Walden Madera, SupraNatura, Natura, Standard, and Concorda lines of guitars. We trust these pictures and descriptions will inspire you to go and play a Walden guitar because the sound of a great guitar is something that is beyond words. We hope you will allow Walden Guitars the opportunity to appeal to your heart and touch your soul.

BODY SHAPES
Choosing a Walden guitar begins with the essential step of discovering the best body shape for you. Every guitar has its own unique voice which is a product of choosing the right body shape, as much as the right wood configuration. As your musical partner, your guitar must feel good in your hands and rest comfortably in your lap, while providing all the complexity, volume and nuance you would expect from a world class instrument.

The traditional classical guitar body originated in the early 1800s. By the 1920s, Spanishbased designs emerged as the standard for the classical guitar. The Walden "N" remains true to its heritage and delivers a voice that has a mellow, singing quality with good bass presence.
"
4 ⅛" 19 ⅜"
Walden's "O" body OM guitar is reminiscent of the pre-war guitar for which it is named. Smaller than our "G" body shape, the O body is popular among finger-stylists and female players. A shallower side depth makes it easier to play and contributes to its focused voice, great for a studio "tracking" instrument.
T TRAVEL GUITAR P POINTFIVE Upper Bout
15 ⅞" 3 ½"
The Stage body shape is based on the Walden Grand Auditorium cutaway body with a reduced side depth of 3 ½". This creates a thinbody acoustic-electric that is particularly suited to live playing. The "S" has a clear and precise acoustic voice, even when played unplugged.

The Dreadnought body design dates back to the early 1900s. This grandfather of modern guitar body shapes is respectfully represented by the Walden Dreadnought. It delivers the powerful bass, round mids, and crisp trebles expected from this body shape.

The "T" body shape is a ⅞ sized guitar with a 24.2" scale length. The short scale contributes to its easy playability. Similar to a parlor guitar with a slightly wider lower bout, the T is braced appropriately for its shape and produces surprising volume. It has a focused voice, making it particularly pleasing as a sololead instrument.
Waist Depth
8 ⅞" 7 ¾" 12" 3 ½" 16"
The PointFive body has a 21.5” (547mm) scale and body dimensions within the range of measurements detailed by the European Guitar Teachers Association for ½ sized instruments. For parents that genuinely want their child to learn how to play, the P5 provides a quality instrument that is not an impediment to learning. With bracing optimized for this smaller body, the P5 has a unique voice, elegant design, and remarkable tone.
TONE WOODS
The magic of great tone is produced by the woods used in building great guitars. Each piece of wood contributes its own distinctiveness to the voice of your instrument. Proper seasoning is an absolute necessity when building a world class instrument. We use only quarter sawn, bookmatched woods imported from around the world. Tonewoods are seasoned and air dried before entering our kilns. Kiln dried woods then undergo our high-frequency drying process, insuring the woods' stability. Finally, it will equalize in humidity and temperature control rooms before being transformed into a Walden Guitar.
Sitka Spruce
Engelmann Spruce
Western Red Cedar
(Picea sitchensis)
(Picea engelmannii)
(Thuja plicata)
North American solid Sitka Spruce produces a loud and balanced voice with a strong fundamental. Sitka tops are sought after by players with a strong attack.
North American solid Engelmann Spruce is a beautiful, rich whitish soundboard wood. With the volume and crispness inherent to all spruces, Engelmann adds its brilliant complex overtone structure.
The voice of Western Red Cedar is characterized by dark, rich and smooth tonality. Solid Cedar top guitars are favored by fingerstylists and musicians with a lighter touch.
Central American Mahogany
African Mahogany
Sapele Mahogany
(Swientenia macrophylla)
(Khaya ivorensis)
(Entandrophragma cylindricum)
One of the most traditional woods used for acoustic guitar necks, sides and backs, illegal logging and unsustainable export levels are threatening to render big-leaf mahogany commercially extinct in the near future.
Also known as Khaya Mahogany, its interlocking grain contributes to excellent strength and stability. African Mahogany is an excellent choice for neck material.
Sapele Mahogany has bright striped grain and is clear and responsive. Both beautiful and brilliant, Sapele is an excellent tonewood for back and sides.
Ebony
Indian Rosewood
Katalox
(Diospyros ebenum)
(Dalbergia latifolia)
(Swartzia cubensis)
Ebony is the traditional fingerboard material found on violins, classical guitars, and high-end steel string instrument due to its hardness, stiffness, and resistance to wear. Ebony is a very dark wood, often black, but sometimes dark brown.
One of the world's most prized guitar woods for back and sides, Indian Rosewood is visually gorgeous. Sonically, Indian Rosewood is complex, warm and deep.
Katalox, sometimes called Mexican Royal Ebony, is native to Central America. It compares well to Ebony and is stronger than Teak or Hard maple. It is one of the few available fingerboard woods responsibly harvested in FSC certified forests.
DESIGN FEATURES Carbon Graphite & Glass-fiber Neck Reinforcement Design All Walden 1000-4000 Series guitars feature a modern thin-profile neck. This is reinforced with two rails of Carbon Graphite, a feature unique to Walden among comparably priced instruments, which increases stability and adds harmonic content. Walden 500-700 Series guitars incorporate two rails of “Glass-fiber” resulting in similar strength, stability and harmonic advantages.
Satin Nitrocellulose Lacquer Finish Nitrocellulose lacquer is made from plant fiber. Because it can vibrate along with the moving soundboard, it has been the finish material of choice among the best luthiers since the late 1800s. A satin finish allows for the application of a thin coat thereby translating more energy into tone. A satin finish is also smoother than a glossy finish which can sometimes feel sticky, allowing the musician to play with greater ease and speed.
“Pre-war” Scalloped-X Soundboard Design Walden steel-string guitars incorporate the “Pre-War” scalloped spruce X bracing on their soundboards based on the great guitars of the pre-World War II era. The scalloped-X brace and scalloped tone bars provide instruments with good clarity and openness of voice, while also stabilizing the soundboard against the pull of the strings.
Bolt-on Neck Joint The bolt-on neck joint design has no unintended internal stress, resulting in increased stability, more resonance, and easier repair. The Walden neck joint is a tried-and-true method that involves joining a guitar neck and body using threaded-inserts in the heel and KD bolts through the neck-block.
Two-way Adjustable Truss Rod All Walden guitars incorporate a 2-way adjustable truss rod that allows for the precise adjustment of the guitar's setup in response to seasonal changes. Furthermore, a player can increase or decrease fingerboard relief to exactly suit his or her personal playing style.
Bone and Fossalite Nut & Saddle 1000 to 4000 Series instruments incorporate a compensated bone nut and saddle, the finest material traditionally used on hand-made instruments. The material contributes to their exceptional depth, sustain and complexity of voice. Walden uses Fossalite nuts and saddles produced by Graph Tech, makers of the precision materials Tusq and Nubone. This synthetic material is used on Walden 300 through 700 series instruments. Approximating the tonality of vintage bone, Fossalite increases the warmth and depth of the instrument’s harmonics and tone as well as contributing pristine highs and mids.

Madera You’re Part of the Solution Ecologically friendly, responsible acoustic guitars made of woods from well managed forests are rare. Certified “responsible” instruments made by ethically run Mainland China factories are even rarer. With Walden’s Madera Line, guitarists can make purchasing decisions that both serve your musical aspirations and take part in reducing the over consumption of world resources.
STEEL-STRING GUITARS
The all-solid wood Madera line is built with 100% certified FSCPure traditional guitar tonewoods such as certified FSC-Pure solid Sitka spruce (Picea sitchensis), certified FSC-Pure solid Western Red cedar (Thuja plicata), and certified FSC-Pure solid Central American “genuine” mahogany (Swientenia Macrophylla). With an FSC Chain-ofCustody (COC) certification, all woods on the Madera are tracked from forest to finished instrument thereby guaranteeing its responsible origins. These woods are stiff and sawn perfectly on-quarter, maximizing tonality, voice and stability. We permit visual character inherent to wood such as mild bear claw and winter growth lines. Obtaining products from organizations with COC certification and building with 100% FSC-Pure materials is the only way you can trust that the instrument is genuinely constructed of woods from responsible sources. FSC, the Forest Stewardship Council, is the leading independent, non-governmental, not-for-profit organization established to promote the responsible management of the world’s forests. Walden chose the name Madera for its association with the Spanish word for “wood.” Guitars in this line can be easily recognized by a distinctive pearl headstock embellishment shaped like the Chinese character “ 木 ” for wood. Your demand for Green instruments will aid in certifying more forests around the world making sustainable living commonplace. The Walden Madera: “You’re part of the solution.”

Madera 4000
The Walden Madera line is built with traditional guitar tonewoods. The difference is that 100% certified these tonewoods are certified “FSC-Pure” meaning they all originate from well managed forests. Certified North American Sitka spruce or Western Red cedar soundboards with Central American Mahogany back, sides, and neck result in instruments with the voice you expect, without the guilt of clear-cutting rainforests. FSC-Pure certified South American Katalox is used for the fingerboard, bridge and head-plate and contributes tonal characteristics similar to Ebony. All Madera steel-string instruments are recognizable by the tasteful “wood character” pearl embellishment below the pearl Walden headstock logo, an abalone two-ring rosette, and faux-tortoise shell binding. The all-solid Dreadnought CD4040-CERT pairs certified Sitka spruce with certified Mahogany back and sides and a gloss finish, making it a “classic” with its loud volume and great response. The allsolid Grand Auditorium CG4070-CERT mates a certified Western Red cedar soundboard with certified Mahogany back and sides. With a wider 1-3/4” wide bone nut and a deep, rich voice, it is the fingerstylist’s choice. The CD4040CERT and CG4070-CERT are both available with Walden’s Tobacco Burst finish as well.

All-Solid Mahogany Madera 4041
Currently the FSC tonewoods, particularly Spruce and Cedar soundboards, are extremely difficult to obtain due to the lack of certified forests. True Mahogany (Swienteia Macrophylla) is better developed and is responsibly available. In Walden’s eco-friendly Madera line, there are several choices that allow you to pair your desire for a great guitar with your desire to live responsibly. New for 2011 are the CD4041-CERT and CG4041-CERT, allsolid Mahogany acoustic guitars with a unique tonal character of its own: bigger than Koa and more focused than Spruce.

My Walden ~Chris Hinson~ SupraNatura G3030CEQ Owner "I love my Walden 3030CEQ! Played side by side against the high dollar guitars, the Walden delivers excellent bass, great mids and a warm crystalline high end that is every bit the sonic equivalent of the expensive guitars. The playability exceeds that of the more expensive models! I haven’t been able to put this thing down and it has really inspired me to spend more time playing again."

Concorda 2000 Handmade, all solid Concorda 2000 guitars are close relatives to their SupraNatura cousins, sharing a handmade bone nut-saddle, rosewood binding and wood trim, a graphite reinforced neck and the SupraNatura narrow neck shape. A gloss finish and maple-mahogany rosette are refinements that complete the alluring Concorda 2000. The CD2040 mates a Sitka top with mahogany and a standard 1-11/16" nut to produce a voice and playability in line with its "workhorse" lineage. Wide 1-3/4" neck G and O bodies serve finger-stylists, each incorporating solid Indian rosewood sides contributing to the breadth and resonance characteristic of this wood. On the CG2000CEQ, Prefix Pro electronics made by Fishman ensure the guitar sounds as great on stage as it does unamplified.

By Acoustic Guitar magazine, November 2009 Magazine Review “STYLISH VERSATILITY” “Walden's Concorda CG670TB bundles elegant design with easy playability and pleasing, balanced sound at an affordable price. The striking sunburst finish and simple, refined appointments lend it a classy appearance that makes this guitar stand out from the pack. The full, well-balanced tone is appropriate for almost any music that doesn't need a big, thumping bass, and the comfortable neck should please players who prefer narrow string spacing.”

By Guitar magazine in Germany, August 2009 Magazine Review “A Rockin’ Stage Hog!” “This one’s a winner! Put away your vintage axes! There are more important things on stage than nostalgia. Whoever carries the attractive Walden CS500CE on stage will be rewarded with a rich sound with lots of harmonics, and also enjoy the important subtleties for gentle playing. The great Fishman preamp balances any unamplified weaknesses and really makes this acoustic guitar a real “stage hog.”

My Walden ~Pete Laracuente~ Standard D351 Owner “I was impressed with my Walden D351! I purchased it because I'm learning to play Blues and wanted a 'voice' different from my other acoustics. I am also very pleased with the workmanship, attention to detail, and the 'Bluesy voice'. Unbelievable! If this is the overall quality present at the lower-end of the Walden model/price spectrum, the high-end models must be outstanding.

~Steve Valenti~ Standard D350CEB Owner My Walden "I traded in another guitar for a brand new D350CEB for my 12 year old son. This guitar, even for being on the entry level of Walden, is fantastic! He loves it. Hell, I love it! It's very comfortable and easy to play and sounds great....not to mention it's great looking black gloss finish. Keep up the good work! It amazes me that with this quality and price point that Waldens aren't more common."

Nylon String Guitars
“I play a Walden SupraNatura N2030. It’s just brilliant and so easy to play due to its low string action. Barré cords can be done without difficulty which is often a decisive factor for beginners, so I can really recommend purchasing a Walden guitar. Additionally, its value for money is incredible.”

Natura Like aging a fine wine, the more you play a Natura, the better it will sound. Only solid spruce and cedar soundboards are used on a Natura guitar because the tone of a solid top improves as the the natural wood fibers resonate and respond to your musical style.

Natura N700
The clarity, brightness and complex harmonic structure of the 700 series classical guitar originates from a solid wood soundboard paired with a solid wood back. The solid Western Red Cedar soundboard/solid Rosewood back model produces warmth and breath, whereas the solid Sitka Spruce/solid Mahogany back model is crisp and bright. Natural aging lacquer ensures that the tone continues to blossom as the solid woods open up. Tasteful ornamentations like an inlaid wood rosette and mitred trim complete these excellent solid wood classical guitars.

My Walden ~Carlos B., Guitar Technician~ Natura N550CE Owner "As an employee of Walden’s German distributor, many guitars by several brands go through my hands every day. The great Walden guitars made it easy to decide to buy a N550CE. I'm from Peru. It is wonderful to play either Peruvian music, Criollo or even Afro-Peruvian music with my Walden. Now I live in Germany, and whenever I'm playing a jam session with my Walden and my Peruvian compatriots, we live again in a piece of South America.
