DESIGN CONCEPT/INTENTIONS
URBANISATION: TO DESIGN A COMMUNITY CENTRE IN KUALA LUMPUR CITY CENTRE. AS PART OF THE KL2020 CITY PLAN, DBKL PLANS TO INCLUDE MORE PEOPLE-ORIENTATED SPACES IN THE CITY OF KUALA LUMPUR – MORE OPEN SPACES, MORE PARKS, SCHOOLS, MORE NEIGHBOURHOOD SHOPS, CULTURAL FACILITIES, MORE HEALTHCARE FACILITIES, CHILDCARE AND DAYCARE CENTRES AMONG OTHER COMMUNITY FACILITIES.

THIS COMMUNITY CENTRE COULD BE A LIBRARY, LEARNING & TRAINING CENTRE, HEALTH FACILITIES, PERFORMING ARTS CENTRE, FITNESS CENTRE… THERE ARE TWO PARTS TO THIS PROJECT. PART 1 IS ON THE MASTER PLANNING OF THE SITE WITH MIXED DEVELOPMENT INCLUDING THE COMMUNITY CENTRE. PART 2 IS ON THE DESIGN OF THE COMMUNITY CENTRE WITHIN THE MASTER PLAN.
MASTER PLANNING [5 WEEKS] FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS: TO MASTER PLAN IN GROUPS OF 3 TO 4 STUDENTS IN A GROUP. THE MASTER PLAN SHOULD INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING MAJOR COMPONENTS: RESIDENTIAL BLOCK/S; COMMERCIAL BLOCK/S; RETAIL SPACES; CAR PARK; AND A COMMUNITY CENTRE.
