Our commitment to Ascension Parish has always meant serving both sides of the Mississippi River with technology solutions for residential and business customers. In addition, our investments include facilities in Gonzales and Prairieville, and employees who both live and work in Ascension.
Staying connected has become more important than ever during a global pandemic and economic uncertainty. “It’s no secret 2020 taught us so much for its challenges,” says Leigh King, Vice President of Cox Business Louisiana. “One of the year’s most important lessons was the robust role technology plays in our daily life.”
As a result, we’re working every day to strengthen our fiber optic infrastructure and empower technology solutions that are accessible to everyone–especially as the internet becomes increasingly essential in connecting to school and work.
In April of 2021, Cox announced that we will permanently increase the speeds of our discounted internet program, Connect2Compete, to 50 Mbps from 25 Mbps. We also announced our participation in the federal government’s Emergency Broadband Benefit program. The FCC program, which is open to eligible Americans for only a limited time, is available to provide temporary financial assistance for internet service. Eligible families may qualify to receive up to $50 off their monthly bill based on their current internet service and equipment rental, or up to $75 if they live in a tribal area, for as long as government funds remain available.
“Although many restrictions are being lifted and people are heading back to schools and workplaces, we want to make sure regardless of circumstance, our customers can have the internet bandwidth they need to be successful,” King says. Meanwhile, Cox commercial customers enjoy superfast speeds of up to 100 gigabits, as well as access to robust, scalable solutions that keep businesses competitive.
Business products such as Cox Business Cloud Solutions allow commercial customers to store all data securely in the Cloud and work remotely with all the same conveniences of being in the office. King calls the product transformational in the COVID environment because it allows customers to store information securely while accessing it from anywhere.
For a business with a remote workforce, this means easy access to data and information that once could only be accessed at the office.
