team maile for legisaltive session 2021 RECOGNIZING & CONGRATULATING Jewelyn Kapuamohala Yun Lee Kirkland As an Outstanding Westside Leader and Teacher Selflessly Building the Community Each and Every Single Day
WHEREAS, there are those individuals who faithfully manifest a desire, vision, and dedication to teaching and sharing their mana'o in a healthy learning environment for all keiki on the Wai'anae Coast; and WHEREAS, JEWELYN KAPUAMOHALA YUN LEE KIRKLAND, is a Nānākuli homesteader since 1970 and Secretary and Board for Ahupua'a O Nānākuli Homestead since 2013, and supported the restoration of the Nānākuli muliwai at Kalanianaʻole Beach Park through the Ahupuaʻa O Nānākuli Homestead; and xv WHEREAS, JEWELYN KAPUAMOHALA YUN LEE KIRKLAND, is a 1979 graduate of Wai'anae High School, and an educator since 2002 who is currently employed by Nānākuli High and Intermediate School (NHIS) since 2006; and WHEREAS, JEWELYN KAPUAMOHALA YUN LEE KIRKLAND, created lessons that combined art, culture, and science to make learning interesting and relevant by re-establishing a nursery on the campus of NHIS and began growing native Hawaiian plants for restoration projects and facilitated huakaʻi (field trips) to Kaʻena Point with her students to understand the importance of and threats to the native coastal ecosystem and seabirds, and designed the ʻAʻaliʻi Program of NHIS and engaged students in countless activities with Mālama Learning Center’s (MLC’s) mauka- to-makai ʻĀina Restoration Programs; and WHEREAS, JEWELYN KAPUAMOHALA YUN LEE KIRKLAND, mentored teachers in the Waiʻanae Region in ʻāina-based education and served as a key point-person for community outreach and education in Nānākuli; and WHEREAS, JEWELYN KAPUAMOHALA YUN LEE KIRKLAND, joined the MLC’s Mālama ʻĀina Field School as one of the original teachers in the summer of 2013 and has been teaching every summer since then; and WHEREAS, JEWELYN KAPUAMOHALA YUN LEE KIRKLAND, advocated for Watershed Management and Restoration by partnerships with MLC, Ka'ala Learning Center, Wai'anae Mountains Watershed Partnerships, O'ahu Army Natural Resource Program, Mālama Loko Ea, and Mokauea Fishing Village; and WHEREAS, JEWELYN KAPUAMOHALA YUN LEE KIRKLAND, volunteered on the Kaiaulu, WatershedManagement/Restoration, Ulana (weaving) Lauhala, and Hula and 'Ohana; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Thirty-First Legislature of the State of Hawai‘i, Regular Session of 2021, that this body hereby commends JEWELYN KAPUAMOHALA YUN LEE KIRKLAND for her dedication, service, and commitment to her students and colleagues on the Wai'anae Coast and throughout the State of Hawai'i.

Eliminate residency requirements to ini�ate & complete a divorce in Hawaii. This is helpful in domes�c violence vic�ms, or military service members, or others seeking jus�ce.
Reconstructed Vehicle SB 57 SD2 HD2 to GOV
Eliminates the "obsolete" addi�onal inspec�on required for reconstructed cars which are already subjected to "safety checks."

$ 40 MILLION Build an auditorium / performing arts center to accommodate the growing interest in drama & music on the Leeward Coast. The robust Performing Arts program has produced more than 100 different produc�ons and performances garnering numerous awards & accolades.
Wai‘anae High School Track & Field $ 6 MILLION
$1.5M for ongoing track & field improvements $4.5M to significantly improve the football field
The current facility is over 50 yrs old and poses several risks for those relying on it. Improvements to this resource will provide a more competitive and safer track & field.
