During the summer season, we’re looking for fun and engaging activities. Fortunately, there is no shortage of opportunities in our area to explore, socialize, and stay active. Here are some ideas for fun activities to enjoy this summer.
Take a Sunset Cruise in Calabash
Calabash is well known for its fresh seafood and scenic waterfront, making it the perfect spot for supper and a twilight voyage. The Sky Tonight show is a perfect activity for anyone interested in astronomy and the universe’s wonders.
The show displays the night sky on the planetarium’s dome ceiling and points out the stars, planets, and constellations visible in the local area.

Enjoy the Arts in Leland
Leland Cultural Arts Center is a hub of artistic activity, offering a range of classes, workshops, and events for the community. Sugarbritches is the very definition of a unique boutique with warm Southern charm. Located in Supply, this fun, family-friendly shop offers products from local artisans, including sustainable and upcycled, repurposed items. You can even purchase a Buddy By The Sea tee shirt as a memento to support service dogs for those in need. Sugarbritches is located at 3252 Holden Beach Rd SW in Supply, open from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Dive into the Coast at The Coastal Carolina Museum
The Museum of Coastal Carolina, located in Ocean Isle Beach, is a natural history museum that educates visitors about the region’s natural and cultural history. Highlights include a touch tank with live marine animals; aquariums showcasing local marine life; exhibits exploring coastal ecosystems and local fossils; a diverse shell collection; and educational programs. The museum also features exhibits on the area’s Native American and European settler history. In the Summer 2023 lecture series, you can learn about coastal ecology and history. Lectures will be held in the morning and late afternoons. The museum is also seeking volunteers, and seniors are encouraged to apply. All-day admission is $9 for those 62 and older, or a combo ticket for admission to the museum and an Ingram planetarium show is $14 for seniors.
