SNICKERDOODLES
From Beth Klare, Buzz Writer Here is my all-time favorite cookie recipe from my mom. They are crunchy on the outside and chewy in the middle. They freeze really well. 1 cup soft shortening 1 ½ cups sugar 2 eggs 2 ¾ cups fl our 1 teaspoon baking soda 2 teaspoons cream of tartar ¼ teaspoon salt 2 additional Tablespoons sugar 2 teaspoons cinnamon
Preheat oven to 400°.
Mix the shortening, sugar, and eggs well. Stir in the fl our, then add the baking soda and cream of tartar and salt.
Roll into balls the size of walnuts. Roll balls in a mixture of 2 Tablespoons sugar and 2 teaspoons cinnamon.
Place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes at 400° (or 8 ½ minutes at 350°).
