Photo by Gene Viviano Cover photographer Gene Viviano counts both gardening and photography among his hobbies. “This dahlia is ‘Starsister Red and White’ from Monrovia that I bought at one of the local home supply stores in Shallo e,” he says. “I s ll have the plas c s ck that I keep for all my flowers that I buy.” Gene credits his love of gardening to his mother. “She belonged to a garden club in Long Island, NY when I was growing up there,” he says.

A Brighter Day at the Brunswick Centers

The day many have been longing for has finally arrived—reopening of the senior centers in Brunswick County.

During this pandemic, many people have felt isolated from their friends, loved ones, and seemingly the whole outside world. As things begin to progress in the positive direction, I hope we have learned much from the experience, and that you have a never-ending bucket list to get back to!

For me, the past 15 months have been a time for reflection and growth. I learned that there are always going to be problems; you just have to pause and take time to find the solution. There is always a solution.

I realized how important it is to surround yourself with people with purpose and good intentions. I’m grateful to have found that in our team here at the Brunswick Center at Calabash, and in Brunswick Senior Resources as a whole. I’m thankful for each staff member and volunteer who has lent a helping hand to make things possible. Although a great deal of time has passed since we all gathered at
