The 2022 Women’s History Month theme, “Providing Healing, Promoting Hope,” is both a tribute to the ceaseless work of caregivers and frontline workers during this ongoing pandemic and also a recognition of the thousands of ways that women of all cultures have provided both healing, as woman healers harken back to ancient times. Together, healing and hope are essential fuels for our dreams and our recovery.

Festivities on the Day of the Groundhog
The Brunswick Center at Shallotte celebrated Groundhog Day with a contest. “We sat out two boxes. Participants got to choose if the groundhog saw his shadow and we had six more weeks of winter, or if not, we'd have spring weather! It was like a lottery,” says Center Director Jillian Hardin. “On Tuesday, February 2nd, we took the box that was labeled ‘Groundhog sees shadow’ and Tonya drew a name from that box. Ms. Tressie Gore, who is nearly 100 years old, won the prize.”
