Frozen Lake
for Three Electric Guitars Duration: 3 minutes Performance Notes: This piece is meant to have a very fluid tempo. That said, for the delay, I set a Boss DD-20 to 106 BPM at the “tape” setting which gives a quarter-eighth-quarter-eighth (etc) pulse. I used this setting as well as a large open reverb for all three guitars. In addition to that, the center stage guitar uses a tremolo pedal set to fast and mid-depth vibrations (other than when noted to turn from fast to slow while the notes ring out in m 26). I’ve purposefully not indicated any dynamic markings for the two guitars that use EBows since the dynamics with an Ebow are basically on or off other than the natural decay of the fade-outs that happen as you pull the Ebow away from the strings. That said, all these lines should be something like mf and really just simply blend well with the fades and p.i.m.a. plucking of the center stage guitar. I highly recommend referencing my recording of this piece to get an idea of how it all fits together (track 6 of my 2020 album, Electric Seeds). Hope you enjoy it!
