NEW SPACES IN FAMILIAR PLACES
ARTIST
STATEMENT
Since March we have been living our lives primarily indoors sheltering at home. It has changed all of our lives in so many ways and there is still no guaranteed end in sight. This body of work is in response to those daily changes. For me and many others the time spent out of doors as frequently as possible in the open spaces and parks within a short distance from my shelter has provided bottomless inspiration for my art. Virus and ďŹ re have made me appreciate my natural surroundings more than ever. The paintings reect that love of the California landscape I inhabit. Each one is inspired by the places I walk, run and cycle in. They are not literal descriptions of a speciďŹ c place but portray the colors, shapes and feeling of place. I hope you are reminded of your most favorite place in one of these pictures.
