THE BRITISH SCHOOL AL KHUBAIRAT
INSTRUMENTAL TUITION britishschool.sch.ae
GENERAL INFORMATION The Instrumental Department is located in the Phase 4 Building, 2nd Floor. Students are scheduled one 30 minute lesson per week during school hours and will leave their academic class to attend the instrumental lesson. Due to scheduling constraints, please be aware that instrumental lessons may start in one academic subject and overlap into another. Instrumental lessons are very popular within the School and therefore we run a waiting list system when necessary. If spaces are immediately available in your chosen instrument you will be offered a place in writing, otherwise we will contact you again when vacancies arise. Music tuition is available for students from Year 2 onwards. (Yr 2- subject to proportion & size suitability). If you wish to request a place on our waiting list(s) for instrumental lessons, then please provide the name and class of the student along with their preferred instrument(s) to: Instrumental@britishschool.sch.ae The first lesson will be a Trial Lesson; Trial Lessons will be free of charge regardless of whether tuition is continued on a regular basis. If the teacher, student and parents agree that lessons will continue, the instrumental teacher will send a contract to the parents including subsequent costs of tuition and, if applicable, instrument hire (which starts from the date of the first scheduled lesson) after the trial lesson. • • •
Students in Year 2 – 4 will be collected for all lessons Students in Year 5 – 6 will be collected for their first lesson only Students in Year 7 – 13 must make their own way to lessons

Students must have their own guitar for lessons as we do not hire out these instruments. If your child does not currently own one, then we will suggest the appropriate size to purchase after their first trial lesson on one of the department guitars.
INSTRUMENTAL INVOICES: • • •
Instrumental invoices will be sent from our accounts team by email after the free trial lesson. Students who have unpaid instrumental invoices from previous term will not be allowed to start lessons in the new term. Lessons will recommence when the outstanding invoice has been paid. Any lessons lost (due to school holidays, school trips, teacher absence) will be given as a credit. Lessons missed by students due to forgetting or being absent from school are counted as a received lesson.
ROTATION OF LESSONS: • •
Students in Years 2-11 will have their instrumental lesson rotate to a different time/day each week or every 2 weeks (where applicable). Sixth Form students can have their lesson fixed in a study period. Timetables for the following week are emailed to parents every Thursday.
