The Ministry of Education Arabic course targets the native speakers of the language.

It aims to help all students to develop their linguistic skills, expose them to many classical and modern literary works and deepen their understanding of Arabic and Islamic culture.

COURSE CONTENT

The course content is based on a wide range of selected literary texts that relate to different eras as well as extracts from the Holy Quran and the Sayings of the Prophet (PBUH).

The course content will draw heavily on:

Reading texts: literary and factual texts Writing practice in line with what was covered during reading lessons Conversational drills where students use and apply the skills they acquired The structure of the language: applied rather than theoretical syntax and morphology

SKILLS DEVELOPED

● Native understanding and analysis of written and spoken Classical Arabic ● Knowledge and application of language skills ● Writing for different purposes ● Conversing in Classical Arabic on a given topic

SPECIFICATION LINK

ASSESSMENTS Half termly assessments take place as well as a final exam at the end of each academic year. Students in Year 12 will undertake the Ministry of Education Arabic Exam at the end of the academic year.
