This course will enable students to explore a wide range of themes and issues through the use of a variety of dramatic strategies.

Students will create, perform and respond to drama informed by their theoretical knowledge of Drama and Theatre.

COURSE CONTENT Introduction to Drama and Theatre Component 1:

Understanding Drama - Students will study a set text - Blood Brothers - by Willy Russell

Component 2:

Devising Drama - Practical process of creating and evaluating devised drama. This section of the course is internally assessed and externally moderated by AQA examiners.

SKILLS DEVELOPED

This qualification will further develop a students ability to: ● Rehearse and perform effectively ● Work creatively as individuals and in a team ● Understand the characteristics of performance text(s) and dramatic work(s) ● Collaborate and communicate ● Analyse and evaluate theatre performance

FURTHER STUDY

This course is strongly recommended for any path involving communication and interpersonal skills. It is a perfect foundation for a substantial number of A Levels: ● Theatre / Film / Design ● Marketing ● Public relations ● Journalism ● Education A grade 6 at GCSE is required to study this subject at A Level.
