BRONZE AWARD LAUNCH

THE CREATIVE ARTS TEAM

MISS LORD:

I struggle to pin down my main artistic passion. Theatre helps me to draw all of Director of the things I love together. I love to write, Creative Learning design sets, interpret literature, produce and and direct shows, paint murals and to bring people together to create new Partnerships, Director of Drama creative ideas. I work with lots of different organisations to build exciting and projects in school and in the community.

Teacher of English

In my spare time I go to the theatre, art exhibitions and music events as often as I can. I really enjoy exploring the culture and styles of historical eras across all forms of artistic production. I’m also really interested in architecture and city planning and love exploring cities across the world. These experiences fire new ideas in my mind and feed back into my work at school.

Mrs Ryder: Teacher of Art Head of Year 8

I make sure I create something every single day. I keep a sketchbook for each year and I’m on my fifth. This pile is from 28th June 2014 to the present. I draw, paint, collage, stitch anything I fancy doing. Rarely does anything get completed in a day but a little soon adds up.

Mrs Whitmore: Teacher of Music Although I already do quite a lot of it at school, my musical interest outside of school is singing. I am a member of the Manchester Chamber Choir and take part in a wide range of concerts in all kinds of venues – art galleries, cathedrals, the Bridgewater Hall and once even at a Labour Party Conference! We cover all kinds of music and often work with professional orchestras such as the BBC Philharmonic; during the summer I performed a concert of music exclusively from The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones! Although I also play several instruments, the music I choose to listen to also tends to be vocal – anything from classical to Stevie Wonder, musical theatre to Bruno Mars. And I love cats!

Mr Bleasdale: Director of Music

I started learning the violin after being inspired by a string quartet who visited my primary school. Some years later I started to play the guitar and spent all my spare time practicing which eventually led me to study music at college. I then had a really enjoyable career as a freelance musician for a number of years before becoming a teacher. The great thing about music is that there is always something new to discover and I listen to many different genres of music whenever I have the opportunity. I also love to go walking when I have time, especially in the Lake District.

Mrs Brewer: Teacher of Art and Graphics

I studied at Fine Art at UWE in Bristol, where ‘collage and drawing were my specialisms. However, when I started my career in education (as an Art technician), I soon became obsessed with all things digital!

I have a million favourite artists, but the best ones for me combine my love of collage, graffiti and the digital aspect. I love going to exhibitions and seeing theatre that challenges me and takes me out of my comfort zone. In my spare time I go to music festivals and exhibitions. I like going out with my friends exploring new places. I have a little daughter now who is two and I love teaching her about drawing and collage too!

Mr Deakin Creative Arts Technician

I started out at sixth form college studying BTEC Music Technology and then went on to complete a BSc degree in it as I wanted to be the ‘sound man on the mixer’. Music Technology covers a vast array of topics and has many opportunities to pursue a specialism. For example: Recording, Music Production, Dj-ing and Live Sound. I chose to specialise in Live Sound and became a Sound Engineer

I've worked on many different projects as a sound engineer from live music with many bands and artists both signed and unsigned, to theatrical projects and corporate presentations. I've also recorded different items from live performances to radio jingles. In addition to sound engineering my role also incorporates lighting , projections and video editing . If I get some spare time between projects I like to go to see upcoming artists and play golf.

Mr Forgrieve Head of Instrumental Studies

Playing percussion instruments is my passion! I have been lucky enough to work professionally with some amazing musicians and have travelled on tours throughout the UK, Europe and coast to coast in the USA. I have performed on many radio and television broadcasts, can be heard on over 50 commercial CDs, and I even marched on stage as drummer in battle scenes with the Royal Shakespeare Company!

I love virtually every type of music from classical to jazz to folk to pop, although I do struggle to get into rap – maybe you can help to convert me! In my spare time I enjoy walking and attending social events.

Miss Sherry: Teacher of Music Arts Award Coordinator

My main artistic passion is playing the clarinet. I play for Manchester Wind Orchestra and Chorlton Festival Orchestra which involves lots of rehearsals and concerts.

In my spare time I go to music events as often as I can; enjoying everything from watching my friends at local jam nights to formal classical music concerts and festivals. I listen to music when I am driving, running or cooking and am really open minded about styles of music. I grew up listening to jazz but currently am more of a Motown and electronica fan.
