Bekka Environmental Services (Be’ah) Key Services Areas BES is a leading full service environmental consulting, engineering and services firm with national and international expertise, providing superior solutions for the following key areas.

Emission Control Smelter and Refinery Plant advanced emission control systems in the world, with monitoring equipment installed for continuous real-time monitoring. Efficient fume collection systems installed in the main production canters ensure minimum emissions to the atmosphere. Emissions are monitored using CEMS - Continuous Emissions Monitoring System.

Waste Management The operation of the aluminum smelter and refinery plant results in a variety of solid and liquid wastes. All of these are identified and appropriate procedures for handling, storage and disposal are stringently employed.

Opportunities for waste reduction and for improvements in waste handling are continually assessed and implemented. In particular, opportunities to reuse, recycle and recover waste materials are pursued whenever feasible.

Water Use and Recycling Aluminum smelting is essentially a dry process. However, some amount of water is needed for the cooling process and for cleaning.

In the long term, the aim is to minimize the consumption and use of desalinated water and maximize the reuse and recycling of treated wastewater.

In its quest to make Aluminum and Refinery Plant a zero effluent discharge smelter, a state-of-the-art industrial effluent treatment system has been put in place. Treated effluence from the sewage treatment plant is recycled for reuse to water the green area around the smelter.

BES Echo: Our home, our world living green, (Rethink, Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle) With Living Green, BES is examining its environmental practices and ramping up efforts to improve them. It is a national effort that is most effective because it has captured the imaginations of people in the firm’s collective backyard - its local offices.

By incorporating Living Green into BES’s decision-making process, as it focuses on continuous improvement in its business processes and practices, the firm has become more environmentally responsible. We are continuously identifying leading practices that encourage partners and employees to Rethink, Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. The 4Rs provide a foundation for the Living Green program and serve to build awareness around environmental concerns with our partners and employees, and assist in the identification of improvement opportunities.
