JOB TITLE
EAL Teacher
JOB PURPOSE
To implement and deliver the EAL Curriculum, according to the age, aptitude and abilities of the pupils being taught.

Teaching and learning - To plan, prepare and deliver schemes of work in accordance with the EAL programs set out by the curriculum and the school, - To maintain a working knowledge of the EAL Curriculum, - To maintain records of pupils’ progress including: - To write reports to parents as and when required and conduct termly interviews with parents to discuss and explain their child’s performance and progress in school, - To provide and maintain an attractive and stimulating environment in which to foster effective teaching and learning in line with the school’s display policy, - To monitor progress and effectiveness of class work and to evaluate and modify as necessary, - To be part of the EAL curriculum working party that ensures consistency across year groups. - To take a proactive approach towards continuous professional development Pastoral - To be aware of the physical and emotional well-being of pupils and the need to respond to particular situations, - To comply with and assist the School in the implementation of any rules and regulations which the school may from time to time issue to ensure the efficient operation of the school and the welfare and interests of its students and employees, - To liaise with other agencies e.g. school nurse, SEN Co, educational psychologist as required.
Administrative/additional duties to understand and implement: - Regulations and correct procedures - Emergency and evacuation procedures - Health and Safety policies - Child Protection policy - All curriculum or organizational policies or agreed procedures - To conduct standardized or other tests when required and document pupils 
performance - To attend and participate in weekly staff meetings and also on other occasions when required e.g. team planning meetings, support the decisions taken at those meetings, and respect the confidentiality of the matters discussed - To attend and participate in training days, - To supervise playtimes, lunchtimes and provide ASAs as required, - To register students and take on responsibilities of a form tutor as required, - To supervise after school matches or concerts when required, - To supervise pupils in assemblies and lead a class assembly as required, - To supervise and lead: 
Teaching Assistants, Students, Voluntary Helpers - To liaise with colleagues enabling smooth transfers of children within school and to and from others Contracted hours - Minimum working hours for full time teachers shall be Monday to Thursday from 7:30 till 4.00pm and 3.00pm on a Friday as long as all responsibilities are accounted for,
Appropriate dress for the role Dress should be professional at all times the school is in session. Smart tailored skirts or trousers may be worn (not leggings) with an appropriate shirt or top, or a tailored dress. Clothes made from denim, lycra, corduroy or other casual materials are unlikely to be appropriate, and tops with thin straps or casual t-shirts with prominent logos or should be avoided. Shoes should be formal. Uggs, flip flops etc are not to be worn, and stiletto heels are not suitable for the demands of the school day. Staff may wear makeup and jewellery appropriate for a formal business environment. Tattoos should be covered. Note -
