Mathematics Teacher, SECONDARY To teach pupils who are assigned to a class within the school and to carry out such associated duties as are reasonably assigned by the Head of Secondary. To promote the ‘mission’ and philosophy of the school ensuring that children are working towards being International citizens and independent learners. Ensuring that planning, preparation, recording, assessment and reporting meet their varying learning and social needs and to be flexible and adjust to the needs of the school, actively contributing to its development and growth. Demonstrates thorough curriculum knowledge, can teach and assess effectively, take responsibility for professional development and has pupils who achieve well through the High Performance Learning agenda. PACKAGE KEY RESULT AREA Planning, Teaching and Class Management Teach allocated pupils by planning their teaching to achieve progression of learning through:  understanding and applying effective classroom management;  understanding and applying a range of teaching strategies;  positively targeting and supporting individual learning needs;  maintaining high levels of behaviour and discipline;  effectively using homework and other extra-curricular learning opportunities;  attending residential trips with Mathematics teams  effectively managing other adults in the classroom  nurturing enquiry and engagement in students  encouraging the development of independent learning skills of our students ;  demonstrating appropriate consistent progress and high expectations for the majority of pupils across all teaching areas across all spectrums of background, ability and behaviour that compares favourably with pupils in similar settings  participating in the GLOBAL CLASSROOM Monitoring, Assessment, Recording, Reporting  Use performance data to evaluate pupils' progress and set appropriate targets for improvement;  Use assessment to inform planning and teaching;  Report on progress to all stakeholders. Pastoral Duties  Be a form tutor to an assigned group of students;  Promote the general progress and well-being of individual students and of the Form Tutor Group as a whole;  Liaise with the Pastoral Leader to ensure the implementation of the school's pastoral system;  Register students, accompany them to assemblies, encourage their attendance at all lessons and their participation in other aspects of school life;  Contribute to the preparation of Action Plans and progress files and other reports;  Alert appropriate staff to problems experienced by students and make recommendations as to how these may be resolved;  Communicate, as appropriate, with parents of students and persons or bodies outside the school concerned with the welfare of individual students, after consultation with appropriate staff;  Contribute to PSHE and citizenship and enterprise according to school policy


Other Professional Requirements  Have a working knowledge of teachers' professional duties as specified in the schools handbook  Operate at all times within the stated policies and practices of the school;  Maintain an up to date knowledge of good practice in teaching techniques;  Know subject(s) or specialism(s) to enable effective teaching;  Take account of wider curriculum developments;  Incorporate national strategies in all teaching;  Communicate learning objectives;  Undertake professional development to enhance teaching and pupils' learning, and apply outcomes and identify impact; share outcomes with colleagues  Take responsibility for professional learning.  Inspire trust and confidence in pupils and colleagues;  Build team commitment with colleagues and in the classroom engage and motivate pupils;  Demonstrate analytical thinking Improve the quality of pupils' learning contribute to the school improvement / development planning and promote the learning priorities of the school SDP;  Contribute to the development and / or implementation of school policies , especially the schools four priorities and the secondary schools priorities;  Use the pupil tracking and monitoring process to advance pupil learning and enhance professional practice in line with the school's aspirations and priorities;  Promote the wider aspirations and values of the school. PERSON SPECIFICATIONS Qualifications/Training  QTS/PGCE,  Experience of A Level at least 2 years’ experience (preferably UK)  good Bachelor’s degree in [SUBJECT] Experience / Knowledge   Proven track record with at least two years’ teaching experience  Experience of being part of a highly successful department and school  Experience of leadership/management in a school  Demonstrable evidence of innovating and adapting curricula to engage children and enable them to perform highly  Experience of delivering the UK National Curriculum, IGCSE and A level  Working in partnership with parents  Skills  Excellent oral and written communication skills  Ability to engage children and enable them to perform highly  Strong organisational skills   Personal Attributes  High levels of personal integrity.  Excellent organisational and time-management skills  Attention to detail  Ability to work under pressure and remain calm  Willingness to take on multiple tasks  Proactive and able to prompt others to ensure deadlines are achieved  Self-motivated and enthusiastic  Ability to work independently  Continually strive for improvement  Adaptability  Ability to use IWB in lessons (Promethean)  Ability to use iPads and Macbooks to enhance student learning  Ability to set up and manage Moodle courses Other conditions  Hold a current Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure or equivalent for countries lived in outside of the UK.  Compliance with visa requirements for working in China
