Purpose of the role:

To assist the Outdoor Education department in the planning and delivery of our extensive Outdoor Education provision across the schools’ group to promote the school’s values of aiming high with integrity, serving others and being adventurous.

Job Description

Areas of responsibility:

To deliver a range of activity sessions including high ropes, archery and bushcraft to a variety of groups in a range of different educational contexts

To assist the department in the planning and delivery of bronze, silver, and gold DofE expeditions, with a view to lead at least one award level in this

To assist the department with administration of bronze, silver, and gold DofE, including pupil enrolment and eDofE, with a view to lead at least one award level in this

To plan required trips and events including residential trips and day events across the schools group, which may include activity programming, liaising with external providers, enrolling pupils, and leading parent and/or pupil information sessions

To assist in the extra-curricular provision of the department by attending our weekly after school climbing clubs

To provide high quality pastoral care to pupils, including in a residential environment

To assist with the provision of the Outdoor Education provision for games each week

To assist in the provision of residential trips, including activity instruction and pastoral care, to destinations which may include the Lake District, the Brecon Beacons, Dorset and Sweden to name a few

To assist in the maintenance and upkeep of the equipment stores

Job Description

Skills and qualifications: Essential

Experience working with young people in outdoor education and/or adventurous activities

A full, UK driving licence

Experience planning, delivering, or supporting the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

Basic IT skills

At least one of the following qualifications: ML, RCI, ERCA traditional ropes course instructor, ERCA generic rescuer, CWI

Desirable

More than one of the qualifications listed above

D1 driving entitlement

Current 16 hour Outdoor First Aid certificate

Experience planning or leading activity residentials or DofE expeditions

Experience or formal qualifications in bushcraft or archery

DofE supervisor and/or assessor

Experience with eDofE
