The year 2020. A whole sentence. The new decade came with things we as humankind have never experienced before. The COVID pandemic forever changed us, whether it is acknowledged now or later. Change is inevitable. The phrase we’ve heard often rings more real each day in a year when many of us are still trying to figure it all out: the health and the welfare of our family and friends. Suddenly our quiet fears thrust at the forefront as we were reminded or began to realize what mattered most. For some, it was the question of where the next meal would come from or how long will my family and I have a home? Front line workers we know that became our modern-day heroes. Never have so many of us appreciated grocery store clerks, janitors, and maintenance workers the way we do today. Nurses and doctors, we cannot thank you enough. The red lines on your faces the marks of a health war that show the hours upon hours you mask up to save our fathers, mothers, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and young ones. The tears you have had to hold back as you informed loved ones to say their goodbyes through technology. Human touch never to be taken for granted again. Racial injustice still reared its ugly head. Who has time to hate right now? Unfortunately plenty. We were saddened when celebrities or sports stars we loved passed away no matter before or after March. Basketball great Kobe Bryant’s death immensely affected a nation before the world became still, no matter race, culture, or economic status. COVID-19 became the great equalizer in a deeply divided land where a black man called out his

Fatally shot inside her home. Breonna Taylor. Protest after protest. Fed up citizens. A sitting president and chaos. A newly elected one and a hope to restore the Soul of a hurt Country. We are not political, but we live here. America. Not all is lost. Many people have thrived in this season with businesses created—creativity at an all-time high. Humanism and kindness reflective everywhere, like on social media. If there was ever a time to blow away the dust of any dreams you may have shelved, it is NOW!! We dedicate this entire issue to you, the readers, and each person that has graced us with their presence this year. Some you will see in the pages you turn. Thank you! Best regards,

Article by Twins of Media (La Trisha M. and La Tasha T.)

Lenny can be seen in Ruthless which premiered on BET+ in March and follows the story of a woman named Ruth who kidnaps her young daughter to join her in the dark underworld of a fanatical religious cult. Lenny excels in the role of ‘Dikhan’, second hand man to ‘The Highest’ who is the cult’s god. Season one of the show came back for its midseason return on Thanksgiving day, with three new episodes for fans to enjoy. Lenny will reprise his fan-favorite role of Dikhan in season two of The Oval, set to be released early next year. Season two of both The Oval and Ruthless were shot back to back at Tyler Perry Studios this summer under strict quarantine guidelines. Lenny along with the cast and crew had the unique opportunity to not only work at the studio but to also live on-site in what used to be a Confederate Army base during the American Civil War.

You star in two of Tyler Perry’s hit shows for BET, Ruthless and The Oval. Did you have to audition for both series?

What has been your experience working on the two shows? Which character do you relate to the most?

I auditioned for Ruthless only. Because the show is a spin-off of The Oval, I’m playing the same character (Dikahn). Mr. Perry likes to throw his actors in other things, much to my delight!

The Oval felt a lot more fast paced, somehow. I pop up in several episodes as Dikahn in the upcoming season and I have to say, I think I like The Oval version of him more.

Some may consider Ruthless a controversial show. Did you have any concerns or reservations before accepting the role of ‘Dikhan’?

Speaking of the pandemic, what is something new you have learned about yourself during this time?

I’m a bit of an exhibitionist, so the nature of the show intrigued me more than anything else. This is something you just don’t see portrayed on TV. My only real concern was being confident I could do a good job. The show is shedding light on a very real thing that has happened (and likely continues to happen) all around the world. Granted it is for entertainment purposes, but it may shed light on how to safeguard yourself from landing in the shoes of the characters in the show.

I’ve learned that I’m a giver who can do anything I put my mind to. For real! During this time I’ve taught audition technique classes, coached other actors in marketing themselves. Taught myself photography, cinematography, screenplay writing, real estate investing. The list goes on, but none of it would matter if I wasn’t helping someone better themselves whenever I’m called to do it.

Share your experience working with Tyler Perry and the other castmates during a pandemic. So... What a ride! Safety first, of course, and Mr. Perry and his team pulled no stops in keeping us all safe and taken care of. I’d never been to a summer camp before, so living on his land gave me that experience and more. It hardly felt like work! The hardest part of it all was dealing with the heat and keeping up with Mr. Perry’s pace. That man is nonstop and I’ve grown tremendously just by being in his presence. The best part of it all was my cast and the crew, though. The most hardworking and loving people I’ve had the pleasure of working with. Felt like I was kicking it with family.

How will you celebrate Christmas with your family this year? A lot of my family doesn’t celebrate Xmas or any holidays for that matter due to religious beliefs, but for those who do, we’ll likely set up a zoom party of sorts. This pandemic has put the world on ‘time out’, and I just want to do my part in staying smart and safe.

Any upcoming projects you can discuss with us? I’m looking to develop a good friend’s stage play into a screenplay. I had the privilege of seeing it on stage and it blew my mind. I’d love to bring it to the big screen. More on that if I get the “go ahead”!

2020 dealt small businesses a bad hand, and not just bad, in some cases unfair. To stick the analogy, if the game was blackjack, 2020 has dealt small business owners a joker and the Parcheesi instruction card. But entrepreneurs are resilient, they’re smart, dedicated and driven, and as we approach the end of 2020 here are exclusive tips to small business owners on how to start building their legal framework now to make 2021 a success. Whether it’s an entrepreneur looking to launch a brand new business, or a seasoned business owner looking to adapt to the current landscape, Andrea can offer on the actionable steps to take now to ensure you’re entering 2021 with the greatest chance of success, including:

• Entity: Ensure you have the correct entity set up (i.e. LLC paperwork) • Tax Structure: Once you’re making enough money in your business, you want to consult with a CPA or small business attorney to see if adjusting your structure can help save money on taxes (i.e. S Corp vs. LLC)

• Contracts: ALWAYS use reliable contracts. Contracts save you when issues arise, and they ensure both parties understand what’s part of the contract.

• Payments: Ensure you’re using a proper payment system. AVOID Paypal!

• Trademarks: Protects your branding, including your brand name, logo, and slogan.

Trademark infringement is one of the quickest ways small business owners get in trouble.

• Copyrights: Protects your creative works, including your photos, videos, books, and so much more. Using someone else’s photos can easily make you liable for monetary damages.

• Patents: Protects your inventions.

@iamnoemigonzalez

Your latest project, Selena the Series, streams to Netflix in December. How did you land the sister’s role (Suzette) of the most famous Tejano star known? It all started with an audition! Then callback, interview process, and lastly, I had the opportunity to do a camera test at home proving my likeness to Suzette. It was so fun!!

Were you a Selena fan before this project came along?

Where did the interest in acting begin? Had you always wanted to do television and film? Acting found me. Growing up, I watched movies over and over with my family. Then I went to UC Santa Barbara expecting to become a music major and eventually a teacher. But I was still undecided when my friend Lorely asked me to audition with her for the university’s illustrious and competitive Bachelor of Fine Arts Acting program. I went along and ended up getting into the program and fell in love with the craft! Once I had these skills, I was reminded of growing up watching Robin Williams with my dad. I immediately wanted to apply my acting towards the screen.

To say I’m a huge Selena fan would be an understatement. I followed Selena since she appeared on variety shows on Univision and Telemundo. My mom and I knew she was someone special and someone to follow; we will forever be fans of Selena. It’s been wonderful to have Selena as an inspiration and role model as a fan and give back as an actor in telling her story playing her sister and drummer through this series.

What have you learned about the legacy of Selena you didn’t know going into filming the series. Honestly, I am such an avid fan; I think I knew more than most going into it! I love Selena! Selena y Los Dinos! The Quintanilla family! It was such a cool opportunity as both a fan and an actress to see how this series presents all the amazing details of her legacy. I can’t wait for everyone to see it!

How will the series be different than the movie that starred Jennifer Lopez? Well, firstly, I absolutely love Selena the movie and Jennifer Lopez’s performance. It will always be one of my favorite movies of all time. But to answer your question, when you have a two-part series format, there’s an opportunity for more of the story to be told. This series will be a deep dive for longtime Selena fans and will also offer the opportunity for a new generation of fans to discover Selena’s story and music. With the family’s blessing, the diverse creative team involved with the series has done a tremendous job bringing this story to life.

When not acting, how do you spend your days? I pour a lot into the craft, so I focus on balancing that out with my own creative and personal ventures. I try to relax and spend quality time with loved ones. Also, I am currently developing a TV show with my best friend and fellow actress Chelsea Rendon. I love being in nature and going on hikes, as well as working out. Lastly, because of the quarantine lockdowns, I’ve started painting!

Dream role and with what actor or actress? I would love the opportunity to work with Viola Davis. I’ve always admired her work and love of the craft. I also went to a screening and Q&A of Fences with the cast, which solidified how much I would love to work with her. Dream role would probably be activist Dolores Huerta, Shakira, or Rita Hayworth. The viral image of Kamala Harris and Ruby Bridges surfaced quickly upon news that Harris was the first woman and woman of color elected as Vice President. It took on a life of its own. It symbolizes that a hurt country can hope for change. It is not from a political eye but from the vision of so many looking for a semblance of humanity, whether people understand the pairing of Ruby Bridges, the little black girl, the first to desegregate an all-white school, and Harris, a half Indian and Jamaican woman from the Bay Area of California. Looking at the image communicates, much has changed, and more has remained the same. What is to be said is decency holds no color. It is an action to be exchanged from person to person whether we are of the same race, religion, political party, or socioeconomic status. Like Bridges, Harris walks into a new territory of change. Bridges did so in 1960, Harris, in 2021. Her historical achievement has already created a young girls and women’s movement that this first monumental occasion is not the last time for the many after VP-elect. Harris knows what this means not only for herself but for the countless young girls and women watching and listening. She acknowledges they are the reason why she is here. Something she spoke about when she delivered her acceptance speech on November 7. “And to the woman most responsible for my presence here today – my mother, Shyamala Gopalan Harris, who is always in our hearts. When she came here from India at the age of 19, maybe she didn’t quite imagine this moment. But she believed so deeply in an America where a moment like this is possible.”

Harris includes in her journey “every little girl that sees this is a country of possibilities.” Again, an excitement signals she is the first but not certainly the last woman in office as vice president. With her mother close to her heart, she can see “generations of women, Black, Asian, White, Latina and Native American.” But no office holds priority more than her home life with husband Doug, children Cole and Ella, her sister Maya and her entire family and expressing her love in more ways than she could ever say. The shadow of Ruby Bridges walking alongside Harris is a journey of the past, present, and future. There would be no Harris without Bridges. It is a reminder to us all that each step that rights any wrongdoings springs forth another generation of a child turned woman leader who stands on the shoulders of a little girl before her. As Harris walks with Bridges in the image seen around the world, may we all do the same, knowing the energy put forth makes tomorrow better than the day before. The Year 2020 threw curves no one saw coming. If nothing at all, Harris and Bridges’ image is simply a beautiful way of knowing togetherness is more progressive than division. Vice President-elect Kamala Harris is every little girl and woman, and woman of color who dreams.

Best known for his role as Derwin “Ding dong” Davis on the much-loved television sitcom of the 2000s “The Game,” Hall has gone on to do other work on both the small and big screen. He wrapped up his role as Darryl in the long-running series “Ray Donovan” at the beginning of the year and before the pandemic forced a lockdown. But Hall is very much a family man and a great listener, who spent most of the time chatting with the ‘Twins of Media’ on how his upbringing helped him to be where he is now. Not to mention patient because with the pandemic came technical glitches going LIVE without a crew. Still, Hall was more interested in the conversation than occupying his thoughts on a temporary mishap. We left inspired by an individual who loves his craft, but it doesn’t define him outside of what comes first, God and his loved ones, because everything else falls in its rightful place. Boy, do we miss him and Melanie “Med School” Barnett and long for a reboot, but we have Netflix to thank for streaming a fan favorite that made staying home better.

This social media influencer turned entrepreneur gained attention with her YouTube followers sharing her story of insecurities throughout her childhood. It’s hard to believe the bubbly personality and beauty of Ty-Leah B. Hampton was ever an issue growing up, but it was. She cites why she chronicled her personal stories on social media because “somebody else could be dealing with this.” Having run track through high school and beyond, the 25-year-old is an avid fitness lover. Not surprising, considering her bonus mother is actress and Vegan Influencer, Tabitha Brown. Still, Ty-Leah holds her own by turning what were hurtful times (she recalls some kids would tease her looks) to embracing her beauty both inside and out. What’s on her list of goals? The Olympics and a fitness wear line available now to her thousands of followers. Ty-Leah is beautifully showing a humble spirit, and a good heart will move you well past anyone who may think otherwise.

Her Instagram post this past October touched us on the spot. Famed television host Ananda Lewis announced she has Stage 3 Breast Cancer on the first day of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. And here she was in a video message telling other women to get mammograms. Her health challenges, an inspiration to many, including ourselves, while choosing to save lives through her personal journey. When we spoke with Ananda then, she had returned from treatment. She gave herself only a few minutes to spare before connecting with us via live stream—expecting to see someone a little fatigued, Ananda greeted us with lively energy consistent throughout the conversation. She inspired us by this principle, “When I say I am going to do something, I do it,” and more so because she is still actively a mom and a champion of not only her health but the countless women surviving breast cancer one day at a time.

The music executive, talent manager, and businessman says these days he focuses on oneword happiness. Responsible for developing the careers of daughters Beyoncé and Solange and the group Destiny’s Child. He shares how he would work hard to win awards as a young man and be number one for himself and his artists, but not so much focus that same energy on his happiness until now. Knowles places his mental and physical health as a high priority and lives his life through his passions, truth, and others’ empathy and care. Having survived Male chest cancer, Knowles has long partnered with the American Heart Association to champion for men, especially black men, to get regular checkups and go to the doctor. Proving his happiness includes saving the lives of men who are our husbands, fathers, brothers, and uncles.

He is full of feel-good energy. The singer and songwriter will either share gems, laughter, or a song on the spot. He did exactly that when we spoke with him back in November as he was preparing for the Black Music Honors in which he was performing. His humor was on full display when we asked what he learned about himself in the pandemic. Simple: Realizing he knows some things, but not all. His primary focus outside of music is marriage. The “Doves Cry” singer tied the knot with his wife Nichelle in August of this year. Quoting his pre-marital counselor, he says, “When we decide marriage we decide to enroll in the University of each other. Acknowledging it is a curriculum that is forever evolving. As a student, you will never graduate, so get comfortable and be the best you can possibly be for yourself and your spouse—wise words for a man whose songs are famous for being played at countless wedding ceremonies.

By Sheena Robinson Financial Consultant Sheena Robinson shares tips and information on how best to spend money in a pandemic with ways to give back and get more creative during the holidays.

Photo Credit: Thought Catalog 38 | BSM MAGAZINE | BSMANDMEDIA.COM

@financialparentacademy What is the number one thing people should consider when holiday shopping in a pandemic? People should consider that the #1 thing is not trying to go broke pleasing everyone this holiday season with materialistic gifts. How can families or people with fewer resources this year enjoy the holidays? What tips do you offer that will not cost a lot of money if any? What advice can you provide going into 2021 to best prepare our finances?

With many people feeling the burden of job loss and pay cuts during this time, it may seem impossible for some families to imagine enjoying the holidays. If you do not have a lot of money, you should consider doing something creative like making a card or a handmade gift. You could also do other non-traditional things such as helping a mom with kids by giving her a free day or maybe even helping an elderly family member clean their home (with a face mask). The important thing to remember is to have a heart of gratitude. Spread the love this holiday season. As you go into 2021, you should consider reinventing yourself. If you are struggling in an area such as budgeting, you should consider working with someone who can get you back on track. Write down everything you want to achieve in 2021 financially. You should make sure you are using S.M.A.R.T goals. They should be specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and have a time limit. After making sure you know what you want, I encourage you to work with a financial professional to build a strong financial foundation. After hearing your goals, they can help you implement the right

strategies to ensure you reach your goals. Be willing to invest in yourself and the future! If you cannot connect with a professional, use platforms like YouTube and read books to increase your financial literacy skills. In 2021, if you want to begin to move forward in your finance, start paying yourself first. Be intentional about having specific accounts that will help you meet your goals. Also, consider joining an online community that focuses on financial education. What conversations should parents have with their children this holiday season when it comes to fewer gifts under the tree because it is a challenging year for many? In what ways can we give back during the holidays?

Parents should talk to their children about wants vs. needs. It is important to remind your children to be grateful for what they already have. The holidays are a great time to help those who may be less fortunate. You may not be able to serve the homeless in person this year, but you could send a donation to a shelter or drop off clothes your family no longer wears. Your children could also draw a picture, make a craft or cards to encourage others, and show someone cares. Use your creativity this holiday season to make a difference in the lives of others. How will you spend Christmas with your family?

We will have a small Christmas together and make new family traditions. We will also FaceTime and Zoom other relatives to check on them and let them know we care.

Amidst a global pandemic and a national reckoning with racism, mental health experts are expecting this year to have a devastating impact on communities of color. Disparities have been illuminated, and Black families are facing an increasing variety of challenges related to income, social injustice, and access to quality health care. For this reason, filmmaker Brian Ellison, anthropologist Marlon Hall, and sculptor Anthony Suber hosted a global conversation focused on the Black male experience in modern society. Suber spoke with us on why he is a part of a movement that “inspires a positive social change” for black men.

As a sculptor, Anthony you and filmmaker Brian Ellison and anthropologist Marlon Hall host a global conversation focused on the Black male experience in modern society. Explain that here. The connection that we share as brothers, fathers, creators, and friends is the bedrock that we have established in this work. The lens that we have come to see this necessary work is one that combines our different vocations and experiences. As a multidisciplinary artist, I use sculpture as a forge to give voice to the idea of the mask. The mask for us is a metaphor for the camouflage that has become necessary as we navigate culture and society. Our conversation activates the meaning and significance of this necessity and the need to heal from wearing masks for black men.

UnMASKulinity Salon Experience: Third Ward Edition is an event that aims to reach 3,000 people from around the world virtually, to honor the approximate 3,000 Black Americans dying by suicide each year, and shed light on the importance of seeking mental health support. What made you answer the call to action? We all bear witness to what society does to people of color and specifically those of the African diaspora. Black Americans are the victim of dual, concurrently devastating circumstances. On one hand, we are the product of a culture that undermines our mental health and a system that does not provide safe spaces for us to process our experiences. On the other hand, we have to contend with the negative messaging that surrounds mental health. Our answer to this call for action is based on being unwilling participants in this faulty system. We are tasked with being the change as the victims, but we also have survivors’ remorse in the fact that there are so many that slip through the cracks. Our efforts are aimed at multiplying our efforts through inspiring others. BSM MAGAZINE | BSMANDMEDIA.COM | 41

The program offers a virtual dinner focused on mediation, reflection, and affirmation. How has it helped those that attend? This particular iteration of the UnMaskulinity program is new to us. Our interaction has been faceto-face in the past, which we have found to be fruitful for the attendees. From vulnerability to truth defining, the salon experience is one that we have seen is truly unique in our culture. The men that come and participate often remark on the unexpected openness that permeates the experience. The virtual component has been born from necessity, but it allows us to extend our reach from 16 to 3000+.

You say, “To be whole is to be vulnerable, and it is not possible to be whole if a vision of vulnerability that Black men can relate to doesn’t exist.” How do you communicate this thought to broken men? The path for anyone’s understanding of a new or foreign concept is to simplify that idea so that it is digestible on a micro-level. We feel that we’ve made the gateway to vulnerability more approachable through ritual and breaking the experience up into poetic stanzas. From a day to day standing, this looks like routinely and ritualistically addressing those core components through reflection, intentionality, and embracing self-forgiveness.

What do you want people to take away from the Black male experience? We want people to be free. Freedom, for many, seems like an easy idea until they really try to free themselves. Many soon discover that it takes real work in that process because there is a cost associated with it. Often the problem is that men may not know what the cost is because society has not equipped them.

How do you protect your mental health, and in what ways do you refuel? Protecting my own mental health is a daily moving target. I have discovered that it takes much of that same reflection and intentionality that we call on men to seek out through our project. I have learned to be a disciple of finding quiet time. That may be a quiet inner time, but through that is a seed for mental health. My refueling ritual involves taking time to love on myself. Physical health is also a part of it. Many people neglect themselves through a lack of physical care, which is a direct line to our spirit and emotions. I have to fight back the neglect that can happen through not paying close attention to my own physical care.Â

You are looking forward to 2021 because... Not to be philosophical, but any new year is a new beginning and a new opportunity to do something meaningful. 2020 has not been the best year, so I think we are all looking forward to a fresh start. 2021 has so much promise, but I think the real potential is in the seeds we plant in the new year by being good to ourselves and being good to those around us.Â

Make it a family affair – So while you may not be able to visit family this holiday due to the pandemic, you can still make it a family affair. Like most people, there are Zoom calls, which may overextend, but there’s always hope! In addition to Zoom calls, here are three thoughtful ideas to stay connected with family for the holidays this season.

Handwritten Christmas cards: Nothing says I love you like a personalized letter or card where you can share your heartfelt words with your loved ones. And it makes a beautiful keepsake to enjoy for many years to come.

Personalized video: Yes, we get it if you are «Zoomed» out. Well, how about a personalized video where you can share a poem, song, or just warm words with your family. And again, another beautiful keepsake to enjoy through the years. That good old fashion phone call – Yeah, remember this? With social media and text messaging replacing everyday conversation, it’s nice just to pick up a phone and spend a little quality time together during the holidays. And let’s face it, not everyone is comfortable with video or expressing their cares in a card or letter or technology savvy.

So how are you going to stay connected to the family this holiday season? Be safe! BSM MAGAZINE | BSMANDMEDIA.COM | 47

The Gospel Singer Releases New Video for Hot New Single God Flow Article by Twins of Media (La Trisha M. and La Tasha T.)

Tell us about your new single, “God Flow,” and the inspiration behind the music video. God Flow is my second released single. It is an inspirational message that encourages listeners to let go and trust God. I just wanted a simple video that would focus on the message in the song. The director Jason Hass and I thought a black and white video would do just that. The black and white symbolize light and darkness, and we thought it would be great to convey the message of living a life in this world while being a Christian.

You previously wrote a post on Instagram that said, “I’ve been asked a few times was God Flow written to express the hard times due to the pandemic.” How do you answer this question to music listeners? This song wasn’t written due to the pandemic, but it fits. If it helps you get through the day in quarantine or however you’re spending your time, I thank God for that. This song is also a song that can inspire when the pandemic is long over. We are all facing some type of issue. This song will inspire you to let it go and let God handle it.

Discovered at the age of six by the choir director at your church led to where you are today. How important is it that you remember your humble beginnings? Do you come from a musical family? My upbringing is so important. It is the foundation of a lot of what I feel and know. Much of it goes into my writing. I was brought up in the church in a low SES area. I’ve seen what it looks like to have to trust God solely. I come from a long line of singers. I don’t think anyone has made it professionally, but to me, they are.

If you could uplift anyone at this moment with words, what would you say and why? I know you’re tired, and life is hard. Sometimes it feels like there is no way out. But if you are a Christian, there is. God is the way, the truth, and the light. Lean on Him. He wants you too. You are deserving of his love and Grace, just as you are.

Philanthropy work is a part of who you are as well. What motivates you to give back and help others? I’ve probably been there in some form of fashion. I’m no stranger to the struggle.

How have you grown musically in 2020? I think I’ve grown a lot vocally. I’m discovering vocal strengths I didn’t think I had. I’m also learning new techniques. I’m excited. I love it!

What new projects do you have lined up? I have another single that I plan to release before the year is out—one of my favorites. I plan on doing more philanthropy work in the New Year. Hopefully around nonprofits.

Please complete the following. People will enjoy listening to “God Flow”... The message catches your attention. It’s clear. After listening to it, if you don’t know God, the vibe is so good that you will want to.

The New Comedy Stars BJ Britt, Brittany Hall, Carl Anthony Payne II, and Christopher B. Duncan Article & Photo courtesy of CR8 Agency

TV One’s new original holiday film CHRISTMAS DILEMMA is set for Sunday, December 6, 2020 at 7 P.M. ET/ 6C with an immediate encore at 9 P.M. ET/ 8C. The film marks the first project directed by Essence Atkins and builds on the actor’s longstanding relationship with TV One. As an actor, Atkins’ TV One credits include original films such as Girlfriend’s Getaway and its sequel, along with Coins For Christmas, and Coins For Love. Filmed in Atlanta, the movie stars BJ Britt (Being Mary Jane, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Brittany Hall (Ballers, Satisfaction), Carl Anthony Payne II (Martin, 5th Ward), and Christopher B. Duncan (Black Lightning, The Jamie Foxx Show). “I am blessed to have the opportunity to collaborate with TV One once again to direct my first movie,” remarked Atkins. “I am immeasurably grateful for the opportunity to helm a film that I can declare I’m proud of. This entire experience has taught me so much and was a true delight.” “This will undoubtedly be a different kind of holiday, so we thought an offbeat Christmas comedy was the perfect choice,” remarked Robyn Green Arrington, VP Programming and Production. “Additionally, having consistency behind-the-scenes during this unpredictable time was a must, so working long-time production partner, Swirl was a no-brainer. Continuing our tradition of giving deserving and prepared talent an opportunity to diversify, made the decision to have Essence Atkins at the helm of this movie easy.”

CHRISTMAS DILEMMA follows a newlywed couple Jay (Britt) and Monica (Hall) as they struggle to decide which set of in-laws they should join for their first Christmas. After each pleads their case and even attempts a little trickery, they decide to bypass the guaranteed disappointment of picking one family over the other. Unbeknownst to them, the decision is made for them when their families show up at their home unexpectedly. Drama ensues as the in-laws clash, longlost relatives decide to make an appearance, and Jay’s grandmother joins the holiday festivities accompanied her caretaker who just happens to be Jay’s gorgeous ex-girlfriend. CHRISTMAS DILEMMA cast includes: · BJ Britt as Jay · Brittany Hall as Monica · Carl Anthony Payne II as Eddie · Christopher B. Duncan as Howard

CHRISTMAS DILEMMA is produced for TV One by Swirl Films, with Eric G. Tomosunas and COO Robert A. Boyd II, serving as Executive Producers. James Seppelfrick, Ron Robinson and Keith Neal serve as producers for Swirl Films. For TV One, Jason Ryan is the Executive Producer in Charge of Production, Donyell Kennedy-McCullough is Senior Director of Talent & Casting, and Robyn Greene Arrington is Vice President of Original Programming and Production.
