Thank you so much to those of you who have taken the time to fill out the online surveys (that are on the class blogs) - they will remain open for one more week before I close them and begin to sift through the findings. If you haven't done so - please have a look and complete one. The children will find out which class has won the chocolates next week! From the next newsletter, we will be introducing something new: the Attendance Competition. Each week we analyse the attendance records of all the children in the school looking at absence, illness and so on. We look for patterns of absence and follow up any issues that may be arising -clearly, it is really important that our children attend school as much as possible and if there are any problems in this area then we need to deal with them quickly and effectively. The problem with this ap-

proach is that we seem to focus on the negative all the time and don't take the time to celebrate the positives, namely: children actually being in and making progress at school! So, in the next newsletter we will celebrate the class who have the highest school attendance for that month. There could even be a prize! We are desperate for our children to be successful at school and excellent attendance is a very important part of the package. This includes being in school on time. If your child is late after the register has closed then it is logged as an unauthorised absence. As we are trying to eradicate any sort of absence then lateness is just as an important issue as any other. Of course - if your child is ill then they have a genuine reason for not being at school and it is important they stay at home until they are well enough to be at school. OK - let the competition begin - and let's celebrate our high attendees!
