Upcoming Events 18th March ~ Red nose day 8th April ~ Last day of term 11th ~22nd April ~ Easter Holidays
Dear Parents Most of the time I write to you with a huge smile on my face and such positivity pulsing through my veins that I have to go over what I’ve written several times to ensure I haven’t gone over the top. However, I’m writing this with the radio on in the background which is reporting continuously on the plight of Japan and the dreadful events there. Sometimes it’s difficult to be so bright and positive. We’ve reflected on the disasters (and it is incredible to think that there have been more than one and that they are continuing still) as a school and as individuals. It is really difficult for us as adults let alone as children to comprehend the scale of what has happened and what must happen now to piece shattered lives back together. Suffice it is to say—as always we root any response or prayer to such events in the realisation and appreciation of how lucky we are here in England. We are all facing our difficulties here as money becomes tight and jobs a little scarce but surely as a community we are not likely to have to face such adversity as the Japanese are at the moment. Keeping things in perspective has been a little easier this week but it hasn’t been easy accepting that. The children are currently in the midst of Enterprise Week—learning a little more about the wider-world and their understanding of it. Some of the activities are truly eyeopening! From learning about Fair Trade to learning how the tills work at Tesco’s—they are absorbing much information and devel-
oping crucial understanding and skills that will stay with them for the rest of their lives. Please check the blogs for updates. You will notice that we have a new recycling facility on the school grounds—please contribute to this throughout the year. I must make a request regarding the school carpark. The car-park is for staff and visitors only. It is not the largest space in the world and to reduce the chance of accidents or any parking issues we request that cars belonging to parents or carers are parked outside of school. Many thanks for helping us with this. After school can be difficult at times. Please make sure you keep your children with you after school—children have been told not to play on the Astro-turf or on the climbing frame after school. Neither of these areas are supervised after school and should an accident happen—there would be no one there to help. Once again—thank you for your support in this. Finally—as I’m sure you have noticed(!) - Mrs Harris is expecting a baby! She will remain working until the Summer half-term. Of course— we wish her love and luck (not that she’ll need it). We are currently organising a temporary replacement and will keep you in touch with proceedings!

Do something funny for money! Friday 18th March is Red Nose day! We are inviting all the children to wear something Red this Friday in support of Comic Relief. We are not making a collection in regards to this non uniform event, however a collection bucket will be in the school hall for the day, should the children wish to contribute. Red noses are for sale in the office.
Class Photographs The school photographer paid us a visit on Monday, taking some lovely contemporary shots of the children in their classes. We look forward to seeing the results in a couple of weeks when they will then be available to order.
