Dear Parents Dear Parents, As an old friend of mine Bob Dylan once wrote ―The times they are a changing‘‖... You can‘t fail to notice that education is in the news once again. You can‘t fail to notice that a new Minister for Education appears to have the silver bullet for education and that an overhaul is required. Hmm...

already make comments and suggestions to school by visiting the Contact Us page. You will also find some information on our school governors by visiting the Governors page. There is a new facility for you to be able to contact the governors directly should you want to. All feedback gratefully received—it‘s part of what helps us develop the community.

Here at Blandford St Mary Primary School we believe in ―Being the best that we can be‖ that all of our children should be educated in an emotionally warm and safe atmosphere where they are valued and loved. We believe that they should be encouraged to live up to their responsibilities and become good, responsible citizens in their local and wider communities. They should also be aware of their rights and learn about entitlements too. As you will know, we involve our children in the planning of our curriculum and we make sure they are enjoying what they are learning—because we believe anybody will learn more effectively if they are engaged and enthused with their education.

As far as I am concerned, we are a learning community here. We are all part of the team that will help your child develop into a successful young person ready to move on when they are at the end of their time here. We all have a role to play. I can‘t think of anything that Mr Gove or the government is going to say that will change our approach or philosophy when it comes to educating the Blandford St Mary Primary School way.

We do all of this in partnership with you. You are your children‘s first educators, you are the ones who make decisions about your children‘s future. We want to work in partnership with you—we always have done and always will do. If you visit the school‘s website over the next week you will see some new additions—certainly you can

―It might be tough for a while, but

Bob Dylan also wrote the song ―Let‘s Stick Together‖ and in it is a line that sums up our school‘s approach to the impending governmental changes that may be coming our way. He says:

consider the child.” We always have and we always will.
