Dear Parents Dear Parents, Happy new year to you all! I hope you’re not too ‘mince-pied out’ and that you're fit and well for the new year. I know I am... Honest... It’s been a fairly quiet start to the term— which is nice! The children and staff have come back ready and refreshed—I have missed them all over the break and it’s been lovely to be back within the Blandford St Mary Primary School community.
Safeguarding
Upcoming Events Wednesday 19th January ~ School Nurse Drop-in Mon 21st Feb-Fri 25th Half-Term
Yesterday, we had an audit with regard to our safeguarding procedures at school. The inspector that came to look at what we are doing was very pleased. An area that stood out for us was the school website and the guidance that is available. Please make sure you are aware of the material that we put on the school website—all of our work is geared towards making sure the children here are happy, safe and secure and of course we work in partnership with you to ensure this remains the case. There are lots of activities and guidance in a range of areas on the site.
School Entrance Just a quick reminder of the procedures for dropping children off and collecting children at school. When bringing your children to school, they should be dropped off
outside their classrooms—only families s who need to come to the office to speak to the office staff or Mr Lavis should come to the main entrance. The reason for this is that it can become very busy in this area and it can be very difficult for the office staff to manage who is coming in, or out, or need dealing with in other areas. Thanks for your support in this—I know I’ve spoken to families before about this but it really does help us out at the beginning of the school day. If you’re children are late—that is to say that they arrive after 8.45am—they need to come to the school office as they have to be signed in. A reminder to all parents that you should be collecting your children from outside the classrooms or from the playground for children in KS2. For this reason it is imperative that you are in the playground on time to collect your child—if there is a problem then please let us know ASAP.
Clubs Just a quick reminder that there are several surveys on the school website—including the new clubs survey. If you don’t have access to a computer to fill this in then please go to the school office. Best wishes,

Arsenal Soccer School Just a reminder to those children who signed up for the Arsenal Soccer School, that the club will resume on Monday 10th January for a further 5 weeks.
After School Clubs We are looking forward to offering clubs again this term to start next Thursday 13th January. Please have a look on the school website to sign up, if you need access to one of our school laptops please call in at the school office.
Hot School Meals We have been asked by several of our parents as to whether they are entitled to a refund for the hot school meals ordered for the two snow closure days, we are happy to inform you that in this instance if you ordered your meal/meals on line then a 50% refund will be credited to your account, if you paid for your meals through the school office then please call in for your 50% refund, or we can carry it forward to your next order. However we regret to inform you that for any future such occurrences, it will not be possible for any refund to be given, as we do not hold a budget to fund untaken meals. We appreciate this is not ideal and we really do apologise for any dissatisfaction this may cause. .

A Message From Mrs Roberts Dear Everyone,
I would just like to say a HUGE thank you for all the wonderful wishes and the lovely presents that I had at the end of last term. Everyone has been extremely kind, very generous and I am completely overwhelmed. Our school is a very special place, a community full of amazing children, parents and staff who really care~ and it shows! And as I tried (very unsuccessfully!) to say at the final assembly, I have been exceedingly lucky to have been a small part of such a wonderful team. I will treasure the gifts and memories of my time with you all and wish everyone a very Happy New Year. Thank you SO much. Very best wishes
Niki Roberts
