Well, it would appear that Autumn is leaving us and Winter is fast approaching. I guess this is a good opportunity to say: Please make sure the children come to school in the appropriate clothing for the time of year! You would be surprised at the number of children who say they don’t have coat when it’s absolutely freezing outside!

Celebration Assembly Dates 9th November ~ Remembrance Assembly 16th November ~ Year 1 23rd November ~ TBC 30th November ~ TBC

Talking of outside – I have a plea. After school (and before school) please please please keep your children with you at all times. The school cannot be responsible for children climbing on fences, benches etc and running around the playground and Astroturf or even through the school. This is a plea not just from me but the whole staff who would be mortified if somebody hurt themselves or went missing after school.

Thank you so much to all of those who have attended Friday assemblies over the past halfterm – they have been wonderful occasions. If your children are due to be in the limelight soon I look forward to seeing you then. Finally – those parents in Year 6 who haven’t filled in the forms for transfer to secondary school: make sure you do so by 31st October! Finally, may I wish you all a lovely half term break and, if you are attending any firework displays, or indeed having your own, then please keep you and yours safe and I look forward to welcoming you all back to what is traditionally a very busy but exciting half term.

Notice Board

Data Collection sheets

Drop--In School Nurse Drop The next School Nurse drop in is on Monday 19th November at 8.45am. Please let the office or one of the class teachers know if you would like to make an appointment to see Sarah. You can also just pop in on the day.

Thank you to everyone who has returned their data collection sheet to the office. Can I please ask that the remaining sheets are returned, with any corrections that are required, by Friday 9th November. It is important that the information we hold about your child/children is accurate. Thank you.

Parking We have had a number of complaints regarding parents parking in dangerous places and in some incidences, parking illegally. The police are aware and will be making visits to the school to monitor the situation, however we must ask that if you are dropping your child/children off in the morning or collecting them at the end of the day, please be mindful of where you park, if there are no spaces then you will need to seek another location and walk. Under no circumstances should anyone be parking on the roundabout or on the yellow zig zags. Also we should not be seeing cars driving in through the exit of the school car park. This car park is for staff and visitors to the school only which is why the entrance gate is closed at 8.30am. We do appreciate your frustrations with the parking situation, but we must always put the safety of the children first . Thank you to those who continue to support us with this.

Head Lice

Page 3

Collection arrangements

We have had several cases of head lice reported in school. This is a problem that keeps recurring, and is causing distress to some of our children and their parents. We would be grateful if you could check your child's hair carefully and treat if necessary. We would also like to suggest that long hair is tied back which will help prevent further outbreaks. Thank you.

Can we please remind you, that any change to the regular collection arrangements for your child/children, must be reported to the school office. Unless we know that your child is regularly collected by someone other than a parent/ guardian, we will not allow them to leave school unless we have had prior notification. If the person you have asked to collect your child for you, is not familiar to us, we will ask you to set a password that the person collecting will know, they will then be expected to come to the office to introduce themselves and confirm the password. We really do appreciate your cooperation with this.

Poppy Appeal

School Photographer

After half term, members of the school council will be visiting classes during registration, to sell poppies on behalf of The Royal British Legion. If your child would like to purchase one, please make either their class teacher or teaching assistant aware that they have the donation with them.

The School photographer will be visiting the school on Friday 9th November to take individual pupil photo’s. Those children who have siblings in school will automatically be photographed together.

Mobile Phones There has been new government legislation regarding the use of mobile phones in school. It dictates that they should not be used in any area where the children are working or playing. In order to ensure that, we comply with this ruling, when we return to school after half term, we will be asking any visitors to the school to hand their mobile phones in at the office, where they will locked away. We thank you in advance for your co-operation in ensuring the safeguarding of your children. Should you ever have any concerns regarding safeguarding, our Designated Senior Person (DSP), for safeguarding is Mr Lavis and our Deputy DSP is Mrs Harris.
