Being a Teaching Assistant at the BSN Welcome to the BSN Our three Junior School Campuses are situated in and around The Hague. We are fortunate to welcome students from around the world and celebrate what this brings to our community.

Our curriculum The Hague

We encourage curiosity in our children, and from the youngest age help develop a love of learning that will last them a lifetime. Our curriculum is based on the National Curriculum for England & Wales but has been expertly adapted to meet the unique needs of our international student body. Our aim is for all of our students to receive quality teaching and learning. To accomplish this our Teaching Assistants support the delivery of learning activities (especially in Foundation Stage, Year 1 & Year 2).

Your responsibilities

Life at the BSN

Being a Teaching Assistant at the BSN means having knowledge and understanding of the learning opportunities and goals for students of the relevant age group. Teaching Assistants are required to assist the Teacher with the planning and execution of of learning activities; support individual students as well as groups of children, both inside and outside the classroom; and provide regular feedback to the Teacher(s) on student progress. This includes attending and contributing to meetings regarding the children. A willingness to contribute to the school’s co-curricular programme is also an essential part of joining the BSN.

Our Junior Schools are lively, warm and welcoming. All are housed in attractive buildings and some of our facilities include stimulating playgrounds, school libraries, media centres, music rooms and mini-gyms/ sports halls. We make excellent use of our schools’ open spaces for creative and collaborative learning.

We are as ambitious for our staff as we are for our students. As such we expect all of our staff to take up development opportunities in line with their career, their team and the whole school vision.

The school year is spilt into three terms. Fulltime Teaching Assistants are required to work 190 days per school year, 181 of which are teaching days.
