Foundation 2 to Year 11
School uniform
Welcome | 1 Internationally British
The BSN school uniform We believe that a school uniform provides a sense of pride, unity and common purpose for our internationally diverse student community. We consider it an integral part of being in the British School, as it provides children with a true sense of belonging, and fosters discipline and respect for all cultures. The BSN uniform is both practical and comfortable and is worn by all students from Foundation 2 until the end of Year 11. Some elements of uniform vary according to year groups.
We would like you to help us maintain high standards of dress by ensuring your children properly adhere to the uniform code. BSN students should only wear official BSN branded items or, where indicated, approved standard items from other suppliers. Your support in this regard is invaluable in ensuring that students look smart, presentable and properly representative of the high standards that we expect at the BSN.
Buying your uniform The BSN has two Uniform Shops – the main one is located on our Leidschenveen Campus (on the 1st floor of the Language Centre building, behind the school) and there is a smaller one located at the Senior School in Voorschoten (selling Senior School items only). All shops take cash, PIN and Credit Card payments. New arrivals are strongly advised to visit the shop with their child to allow fitting. Extra opening times are planned for new families just before the start of each term – these dates can be found on the BSN Gateway. Please email uniform@britishschool.nl or telephone 070 315 4086 to make an appointment.
Online Uniform Shop Orders can be placed online using our webshop 24 hours a day, 7 days a week – these are then processed and fulfilled twice a week during term time. Goods will be dispatched on Thursdays, together with a copy of the order.
Junior School orders are delivered to the Class Teacher and then handed to students. Orders for Senior School are held at the SSV School Office. Students will receive an email asking them to go to the Office to collect their order.

Jewellery
•
In general, jewellery should not be worn in school, for safety reasons. Children with pierced ears should wear small stud earrings, but they should be removed or covered during PE lessons. Inappropriate jewellery such as large rings, necklaces, bracelets or large earrings should never be worn – such items will be confiscated and returned at the end of the day.

Library bag (optional for all Junior School students) PE bag (optional) Calculator (year 5 onwards) Insulated lunch box/bag (optional) School bag (optional) Laboratory coat (Years 12 and 13)
Shoes Correct school shoes can be notoriously difficult to come by in the Netherlands. A small quantity in the smaller size ranges are available from the Uniform Shop but if at all possible we advise sourcing shoes for all students before arriving in the Netherlands. If this is not possible, staff in the Uniform Shop will direct you to a supplier who will have shoes available at the Main Uniform Shop at the start of the school year, or who can be contacted personally for a fitting appointment at a convenient time.
Second-hand uniform The BSN Family Association holds a second-hand uniform sale on two or three occasions each term. Dates for these sales can be found on Gateway.
