The BSN’s technology infrastructure provides great opportunities for learning, communication, information-sharing and networking. You have a responsibility to use these opportunities with care and consideration. When you use the BSN’s digital devices, systems and network, we require you to sign and adhere to our Responsible Use Agreement (RUA). This agreement also covers digital activity which may take place outside of school but is linked to your membership of the BSN. This ensures that all users and their data are kept safe and secure.

We expect you to do the following:

● keep your login details to yourself ● reveal only the minimum necessary personal information about yourself online ● ensure you have consent to share information about others, including pictures ● communicate with others in a way that you would be happy for your parents, teachers, university admissions tutors or future employers to see ● be respectful and considerate of the work, data and intellectual property of other people ● uphold the BSN’s values and behaviour expectations in digital, as well as physical, spaces ● use the passcode or face recognition lock on your Surface Pro ● update your Surface Pro whenever you are notified to do so ● restart your Surface Pro every day ● charge your Surface Pro every night and bring it to school every day ● catch up with any work missed if you forget your Surface Pro ● save all work and other important files to OneDrive, just in case your

Surface Pro breaks ● seek help promptly if you have a problem with your Surface Pro or our digital platforms ● be aware of where your Surface Pro is at all times, especially when on public transport ● keep the case on your Surface Pro at all times ● handle your Surface Pro gently, especially the kickstand and hinge ● return your Surface Pro and accessories in perfect condition when you leave the BSN ● pay for any damage to the Surface Pro or accessories

What happens if you do not use technology responsibly?

The school takes any breaches of the RUA extremely seriously. Parents will be informed if you are not using technology responsibly. We hope you will never engage in the activities listed below, but we want you to be aware of the potential consequences of these choices. ●If you are unsure about anything contained within this document, or in your use of the Surface Pro or other technology, you must speak to a responsible adult (e.g. parent, teacher, form-tutor, Assistant Headteacher). ● The school is responsible for providing guidance to students to ensure compliance with this policy.
