English Deportment Organizes Exhibition On William Yeats "Few poets have filled the short span of a lifetime with so much intellectual and physical activity," said Prof, S,B, Bushrui, associate professor of English, in referring to William Butler Yeats, who will be the subject of an exhibition which illustrates his life, work and the history of his time, The exhibition is organized by the English Department. The exhibition is a pioneering treatment in the use of visual techniques to show the relationship between historical and biographical facts and imaginative writing. It is planned to appeal not only to the student of literature, but to the general public. Professionally, Dr. Bushrui said, the material presented is of great help to students, teachers and critics. The Yeats Exhibition, which includes part of Prof. S.B. Bushrui's collection, will be on view in the Exhibition Gallery of the Jafet Memorial Library from January 7 through January 14. This exhibition, which is under the auspices of Lady Yvonne Sursock Cochrane, consists of over 100 photographs, with commentary, suitably reproduced for public display, of people, places and events in the poet's lifetime. The material includes a number of rare photographs, a number of rare editions of Years work and a selection of his published writings and related critical studies.

University Bookstore To Sell Surplus Stock Here Next Week All surplus stock in the AUB Bookstore will be sold at substantial reductions at a sale to be held in the AUB Bookstore, Dodge Hall, Tuesday, December 17, through Friday, December 20, 1968. The sale will be conducted because of the necessity of providing space in the Bookstore for next year's stock, the Bookstore officials announced. The surplus consists of texts and reference books covering subjects taught in previous semesters in all departments in Arts and Sciences, Agriculture, Engineering and Medical Sciences. This sale provides an opportunity at a very nominal cost, for students, faculty and staff of AUB to acquire and build up a library on subjects in which they are interested.

AUB Introduces Training Program To Improve Employees Performance Six training programs have already been introduced in AUB this year to improve employees' performance in their present assignments and to meet present and future needs of the University from within the University whenever feasible, announced Mr. Joy Abu Jawdeh, the University Training Specialist. These programs deal with: approaching people; English instruction; shorthand instruction; secretarial office practice; handling and preparation of food, and induction. Approaching people is a program of seven one-hour sessions given to the safety and protection personnel to expose them to problems that may arise when dealing with people during the course of their work. This is done by case study together with role playing. Participants are instructed on methods and techniques of talking with, approaching, and handling of people. The English instruction program is given to nine employees from the division of safety and protection. They are presently receiving regular instruction in Engl ish. Another group will be enrolled in a job English course specifically designed to meet their needs. The shorthand instruction proprogram gram is a seven-month given for two hours a week on a voluntary basis to any employee who wishes to learn this skill. With the skill of shorthand, participants can then develop themselves to occupy secretarial positions whenever a vacancy comes up. This year's program has 14 participants. The secretarial office pranice program is a six-month program given for one hour a week on a voluntary basis to employees in the secretarial group. The program consists of instruction in the basic theories of secretarial work as well as discussion of cases and role playing of actual situations. It was anticipated that 25-30 employees will participate in this program, however when it was announced, the number came up to 58 which made it necessary to start a second division. Handling and preparation of food is a ten-hour sessIon program given at the rate of 2 hours per week to the food service personnel through the assistance of the School of Public Health. Instruction in this program consists of lectures. and demonstrations. on the subjects of the human physiology. disease and its control, personal hygiene, food preparation and handling, sanitation and housekeeping. program conInduction is a cerned with all new employees joining the AUB. AI-Kulliyah's Autumn Issue Now Available The autumn issue of al-Kulliyah. the alumni magazine. is now available at the Development Office to all members of the AUB community. It was mailed to alumni on campus earlier this week. The new issue carries the speech Kirkwood at the of President convocation opening the 103rd year of AUB, an article on the University Computer Center, profile on Sheikh Najib Alamuddin and a feature on old faces around ACE campus.

AU B Student Develops New Plow A Pakistani graduate student in the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Mr. Sarwat Ali Siddiqui. has successfully made an adaptation of a gang plow while studying at the AUB farm. The new plow is cheaper and more practical than the old plow used in Leb-

According to Dr. Harry Henderson, Mr. Siddiqui's faculty "dviser. the new plow is essentially the same as the old one. but with the following modifications: the beam has been shortened, thus enabling the machine to have a more uniform center of draft (roughly speaking, center of draft is the center of gravity). there is a more evenly balanced pull, and the plow itself has a quicker response.
