Room service and meal plans coming soon!!

It's never too early - or too late - to develop good study habits. The sooner you get into a good study groove, the easier everything will be and the more your chances of getting good marks will improve. Here are some tips to make your study efforts more efficient and effective.

3

Establish a set time and place - organise a dedicated study space and stick with a specific time to develop a routine.

Study every day - be sure to do at least a little bit every day, this will get you into the right mindset and will help better immerse you in it.

Plan your time - make lists, set alarms and time limits; whatever you need to make you stick to a schedule.

Find your learning style - Be mindful of how you best learn, whether it is visually, aurally, kinesthetically (physically/practically) or a combination of these.

Review and Revise - Quizzes are great for this, also try making your study materials yourself as this will help to reinforce the information.

Take breaks - Physical activity can be especially beneficial.

Ask for help - It’s often much safer and quicker to do this if things aren’t making sense.

Stay motivated - Don’t forget the big picture! Keep reminding yourself of why your reasons for studying.

There’s an app for that - There are plenty of digital resources for you to utilise in your study practice. Head to http:// www.youthcentral.vic.gov.au/news/articles/5-study-apps for just a few.

Look after yourself - Don’t forget that you learn best when your body and mind are healthy. Sleep is crucial for information retention as this is when the brain processes short-term memory into long-term. Much of last week’s stress relief advice will serve you well in this respect.

Emoji’s are used in everyday life through messaging and on social media platforms to express emotion. If Apple and Android can recognise diversity within our culture, then why can’t the Australian Government? #FreeTheEmoji is all about letting the emoji be free to do what it wants and express how it feels. Transferring to people - letting people be themselves, free from discrimination.

Marriage equality is really only the first step towards decreasing many health issues. LGBTI community is up to 14x more likely to attempt suicide than their heterosexual peers (National LGBTI Health Alliance 2013) due to discrimination and exclusion as key determinants. #FreeTheEmoji aims to promote marriage equality in Australia and have partnered with Australian Marriage Equality. For info on the upcoming rally this Saturday 13th June, Parliament House Steps, 2.30pm and all the latest updates, go to the Facebook page and follow Instagram and Twitter. www.facebook.com/freetheemojiwww.facebook.com/freetheemoji Twitter: @freetheemoji Instagram: @free_the_emoji

The Noise/Guest/Party/Alcohol Free Period is still in session and will not finish until 2pm Friday 19th June. The main priority for student accommodation is to allow students the best opportunity for academic success. Part of allowing that is to make sure that residents are in the best conditions possible to prepare for their exams. During the Noise/Guest/ Party/Alcohol Free Period, the following applies on residence 

No loud noise at anytime of the day

No guests permitted

No open alcohol in communal areas. Communal areas are any place that is not your own room.

Basketball court open from 2pm – 4pm ONLY

Breaches will incur financial penalties and formal breaches against your residential record. We thank you for your cooperation during this time to allow all residents to have an environment conducive to studying. Please speak to your RL or a staff member if you have any questions.
