Healthy Habits While the main goal of your time here at Deakin University is to achieve good grades and receive a high quality education, it can be equally as important to maintain your health!

Exercise regularly The demands of university life can be quite stressful and hard to handle at times but one of the best ways of dealing with this is to simply get up and get active!

Eat a balanced diet If you notice that you have a lack of focus and loss of energy then maybe you aren’t
getting enough vital nutrients into your body.

Drink plenty of water The benefits of drinking water regularly are widely acknowledged as a pillar of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Sleep Poor sleep quality can cause increased tension, irritability and confusion and also have a negative effect on your academic performance. Strong evidence indicates that those who get 7-8 hours of sleep regularly will perform better academically than those who are getting too much or too little sleep!
Racism. It Stops With Me Deakin University is proud to support the national Racism. It Stops With Me campaign. Deakin University values diversity and seeks to promote a safe and inclusive community for all. We don’t tolerate racism at Deakin University. Racist behaviour is unacceptable and we can all take action against it. We need to work together to prevent racism and respond effectively when it happens.
Tackling racism starts with all of us!

Get involved on social media. Speak out on Twitter with the hashtag #itstopswithme
Speak up when you see racism taking place - speaking out has been shown to stop racist behaviour at the moment that it is happening. The role of the bystander is

Safer Community See something. Say Something. Do something.
Safer Community is a Deakin service that acts as the central point of enquiry for information, if you:
have been targeted by a member of the Deakin community behaving aggressively
feel unsafe because of the behaviour of a member of the Deakin community
believe they have been sexually or non-sexually harassed, bullied, stalked or threatened
have witnessed problem behaviour
have concerns about the wellbeing of a member of the Deakin community
believe that misconduct has occurred
believe a member of the Deakin community could be a missing person
would like advice and/or training on recognising and managing problem behaviour
wish to clarify issues of responsibility, confidentiality or duty of care.

Recipe of the Week Lemon, chicken and parmesan rissoles Ingredients (serves 4) ·
500g Steggles chicken mince
·
1 egg, lightly beaten
·
2 garlic cloves, crushed
·
1/2 cup fresh breadcrumbs
· 1 tablespoon fresh basil leaves, finely chopped ·
1 teaspoon finely grated lemon rind
·
1/4 cup pitted kalamata olives, chopped
·
1/3 cup parmesan cheese, finely grated
·
1/4 cup plain flour
·
Cooking spray
Method 1.
Combine mince, egg, garlic, breadcrumbs, basil, lemon rind, olives and parmesan in a bowl. Place flour on a plate. Shape into eight 2cm-thick rissoles. Roll in flour to lightly coat. Place on a large plate. Cover. Refrigerate for 20 minutes.

Preheat oven to 180°C/160°C fan-forced.

Apply cooking spray to a frying pan and put on medium heat. Cook rissoles, in batches, for 1 to 2 minutes or until browned. Transfer to a greased baking tray.
