Acknowledgement On our week long trip to India’s First Heritage City, Ahmedabad, we were exposed to a avriety of structures, all of varying programs, styles and influences. From institutional campuses such as NID and CEPT, heritage structures like the Adalaj Stepwell, religious structures like the Sarkhej Roja Mosque and modern structures like the Mill Owners Association, these experiences helped us gather a better understanding of what constitutes a diverse city. This document is a compilation of our selected works from our experiences there, in an effort to convey our observations and learnings. We would like to extend our gratitude to our Dean and the university, as well as our mentors Mr. Atrey Chhaya, Ms. Dhwani Shanghvi and Ms. Shriya Bhatia for accompanying, encouraging and guiding us.

Ahmedabad is a city of contestation: there is the old city, with its vibrant culture that has a very prominent impact till today, as well as the ‘new’ Ahmedabad, the city of evolving technologies and innovations. The two Ahmedabads run parallel to each other, like two planes, working together and influencing the spaces between them. The comprehensive study trip included ducumentation, sketches and measure drawings of various structures in Ahmedabad, through individual student work. The compilation is our portrayal of the various ‘Ahmedabads’, the ones you see, as well as the ones you don’t
