Senior quarterback Keith Wenning passes the ball downfield against Army on Sep 7. Wenning completed his Ball State regular season career Nov. 29 against Miami. He had a record day against the RedHawks, going 27of-33 for 445 yards and six touchdowns — breaking the school record for touchdown passes and single-season record for passing yards. He finished the regular season with 296-of-454 attempts, 3,933 yards, 34 touchdowns and six interceptions. In his Ball State career, Wenning collected nearly every passing record, including career records for yards, attempts, completions and touchdowns. MUNCIE, COME ON DOWN

A contestant on “The Price is Right Live!” stands next to Mark L. Walberg while they watch the wheel spin. Walberg, from “Antiques Roadshow,” hosted the live game show. He said he likes to bring the show to college towns. He also joked about how “The Price Is Right” is a show that people watched when they were younger during a day off from school. A student races to the stage after hearing her name called to take part in “The Price is Right Live!” on Oct. 23 at John R. Emens Auditorium. Students won prizes that included a TV, a Netflix subscription, a popcorn machine, a car, trips to Hollywood and Las Vegas, appliances and cash. Contestants had the opportunity to play classic games, including “Plinko,” “Hole In One (or Two)” and “Any Number.” The show has entertained more than a million audience members and has given away more than $10 million in prizes during the last 10 years. Matt Hageny, Park Hall director, won his bid on a quadcopter toy and got to compete for an Apple desktop computer.

After the band’s set, which included hit songs and hip-hop and pop covers as well as a dance party with Ford, the band ended the night with its first No. 1 single, “Cruise.” “Good God O’Mighty it’s Crazy at Ball State,” Ford tweeted after the performance. “What a night in Indiana y’all were ROCKING can’t wait to come back.”

DEVELOPMENT UNIVERSITY BEGINS SEARCH FOR PRESIDENT IN THE VILLAGE OPENS LEASING

Ball State President Jo Ann Gora talks about her resignation at a press conference Oct. 28 in the L.A. Pittenger Student Center. Gora announced Oct. 26 that she plans to retire at the end of June 2014. “At some point you say, ‘OK, I need some space in my life,’” she said at a press conference. “I feel that I need more space in my life right now.” The president’s legacy is considered to be immersive learning as well as her Education Redefined 2.0 plan. The Board of Trustees is reviewing firms to help find Ball State’s next president, although the search will be closed to attract better potential candidates. Alumnus David Letterman said he will miss Gora. “Without question, she has not only raised the profile of the university, [but] she has elevated the opportunities and ambitions of the students and faculty,” Letterman said in a statement Oct. 29.

AT LEAST 6 POLICE AGENCIES GROUP PROTESTS ABORTION LOOK FOR REPORTED GUNMAN A daughter of Jason Storms, a Missionaries to the Preborn protester from Milwaukee, holds a sign to protest abortion around 3:30 p.m. Oct. 9 in front of Bracken Library. Storms said his daughters joined the protest by choice. The anti-abortion organization brought speakers and graphic signs depicting aborted fetuses as a part of the demonstration on campus. After a few hours, university police and officials spoke to the 15 to 20 protesters and restructured where and how they could protest. The group was allowed to stay outside in the Bracken Library area, but they were asked to stay out of the way of people walking by. They also were told they could not use megaphones.

Officer Ryan Trissel tells students how they can leave after the report of an armed assailant Nov. 15 at the Student Recreation and Wellness Center. After three shouts of “Gun!” were heard in the rec center, several police departments responded, including the University Police Department, the Muncie Police Department, the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, Indiana State Police, Homeland Security and Delaware County Emergency Management and the FBI. Students inside the complex hid in closets and rooms. Those that were in the rec center went to the track on the third floor. Dan Tracy, a graduate assistant, hid under his office desk until police officers came to escort him out. “If it was a crazed killer, if he heard even slight movement, you never know,” he said to the Daily News. “Honestly, I was prepared for the worst, if this was a Virginia Tech situation.” The university was never on an official lockdown, however several officials said this was normal when dealing with a campus this size.

Chloe Anagnos, Student Government Association president, recites her oath along with SGA adviser Jennifer Jones-Hall on Sept. 11 in the L.A. Pittenger Student Center Cardinal Hall B. Anagnos, who was former vice president, replaced Malachi Randolph, who resigned Sept. 4. Malachi Randolph, SGA former president, resigned and apologized after he posted racially insensitive tweets Sept. 3. “Today, I made insensitive comments through a social media account,” he said in an email statement. “I understand my words were hurtful. My actions in no way reflect the Student Government Association, and I vow to use better judgment in the future.” Randolph said he received threats after news of his insensitive tweets spread. Charlene Alexander, Ball State associate provost for diversity, said the situation highlighted natural biases. “It reminds me that this is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to understand how important diversity is,” she said in a Daily News article Sept. 5. “While we’re making lots of progress, there are still lots of areas for growth.” DN FILE PHOTO COREY OHLENKAMP
