OXO Tower - Bar Proposal
01 BAR PROPOSAL: For the Bar Proposal I have designed an ice cream bar targeting families and a younger audience. I have explored a range of different designs in order to to create a contemporary space which is both concealed, yet open to the eye. The design conpcept is based on a timbre structure featuring glass facades as a way of interacting with the sapce.
Here I have placed the building on the park. This allows visitors to view the skyline and city view from the front of house. As the roof material is made out of mesh, this will allow a great amount of light in and out of the space. Also due to the glass latace the change in day light creates a range of shadows, producing a moving atmosphere.
Bar storage room, behind the second counter. You will be able to store the ingredients and ice cream in the fridge freezers built in. also any other important items for storage.
Toilet facility within the bar, it will be near the rear back. With both a maintenance room and a unisex toilet to accommodate able and disabled users.
Main seating area for everyone to sit down and enjoy their ice cream or dessert. Main audience are tourists and kids, so they tend to come in groups of 3 or more and so this is ideal seating, as it will be across the mesh wall, giving them a unique view of the river front.
Small lounge area. For bigger groups of users. Comfortable seating to bring the atmosphere of the building together and emit a relaxed environment.
As soon as you walk in through the door, you come to the main counter where you can order your dessert, or be escorted to your seat. You can also order for take away and then collect it from the counter at the back.
