Learn the basics of creating metal jewelry. Techniques covered include sawing, piercing, filing, annealing, soldering, texturing, cold connections, ring sizing, and more. Students will create wearable art while exploring different styles and design processes. The class includes some copper, brass, and nickel for class projects as well as the use of all basic tools and open studio access during the weeks of your class. No class August 10. PENDANTS

DARKROOM PHOTOGRAPHY
Wednesdays, July 13-August 17, 6-8:30 pm Instructor: Cooper Dodds $300
Explore the traditional, analog black and white darkroom. Students learn how to properly expose black and white film, process film into negatives, and make silver gelatin prints. All 35mm film, paper, and darkroom supplies included, as well as access to darkroom open studio during the weeks of class. Students need to provide their own manual 35mm or medium format film camera.
DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY
Wednesdays, July 13-August 17, 6-8:30 pm Instructor: Mark LaRosa $300
Learn the basics of making a great photograph from initial exposure to editing and printing in this comprehensive class. The class starts with an overview of camera controls and functions, including aperture, shutter speed, ISO ratings, shooting in RAW, lens choices, metering techniques, and more. Organizing and editing files in Adobe Lightroom is also covered, and students leave with a selection of high-quality prints made on our archival Epson printer. This class also includes assignments and supportive critique sessions to discuss the composition, content, and concepts explored in your photographs. Students should bring a DSLR or digital Mirrorless Rangefinder camera and a Mac-compatible portable hard drive or flash drive. Open studio use is also included during the weeks of this class. No experience necessary. PHOTO PRINTING: CYANOTYPES
Saturday, July 30, 10 am-4 pm Instructor: Sarah Jayne Kennelly 1 day workshop $108
In this one-day workshop, students create one-of-a-kind photo prints using the historic cyanotype method. Cyanotypes are made by placing negatives, large transparencies, or objects on chemically coated watercolor paper, and then exposing this paper to UV light. This workshop covers digitally preparing and printing digital negatives, hand-coating watercolor paper and making the final print using sunlight or a UV light table. All basic materials are provided. If you’d like, bring a Maccompatible portable drive with a selection of images to the workshop or select from some of our stock images that are provided. Students should also bring a bag lunch.
