It's like a sampling of what you would find at a comic con if you've never been able to make a con. They have a soxplay contest and nerd triva with prizes. It's all sorts of fun and they usually have it towards the end of summer break. They've invited me for the last two years and they treat us very well. It's a fun event if you're on

The Mississippi coast. You should keep an eye out for it.
CROSSROADS CREATURES In an earlier issue we had an article on the artist Bryan King. He's a cartoonist that does some coastal art and art for gmaes that he makes. He has just come out with a new game called Crossroads Creatures. It's a card game and losts of fun to play. I know because I helped test out the game with him.

He has done all of the art work for the game as water colors and it's simple to play and works best with four people. Check it out by following this link Http://www.thegamecrafter.com/games/crossroad-creatures
There's a better description there of it too. Even better, be sure to buy one while you're there. MISSISSIPPI BOOK FESTIVAL Be sure to head to Jackson, MS on August 19th for the Mississippi Book Festival. I think this is the third time they've had one. I had to miss the first two but will try to make this one to walk around. They have authors with booths with their booths and panels. Be sure to go and check it out. Http://msbookfestival.com

BACKYARD CHICKENS
Http://louisvilletireandbrake.com Not front yard chickens but back yard chickens I tells ya what. Nothing beats a fresh egg... except maybe an egg beater or a whisk I guess ‌. that's not what I meant. Once you get use to eating the fresh eggs it's hard to go back to the store bought ones. We built a chicken pen and started raising chickens a few years ago. When we just had a few we would let them
Roam the yard, if we were home, and put them up later. I would always give them a treat when we put them up so it became real easy to get them back in the pen. I also would only call them “ladies” when I had the treats so if I walked out in the yard and yelled, “Hey Ladies”, I had chickens running from all over to meet me. Since we've added to the flock we just leave them in the pen or what is called the “run”. As the second batch was growing in the

Brooding pen we decided to expand on the original pen so there would be more room. We basically doubled it. Our neighbors started raising their own chickens and we borrowed one of their ideas. We went out and chopped down pine trees. Not very big ones mind you, but saplings and young ones. We used these for the posts of the chicken pen. You notch out where they meet and they fit right together then you just screw them in. It's actually gives it a very cool rustic look also. We of course have a hen house for them to lay in and get into at night. It also helps to protect them from the critters and varments that would try to break in and eat them at night. The twelve chickens that we have gives us an average of six to eight eggs a day. One special day we got two eggs more than they number of chickens we had. They looked exhausted that day too.

So go get you some chickens or find someone who has some already and buy you some fresh eggs, why don't ya? UNCLE BUBBA'S BOOK SHACK & EMPORIUM OF ODDITIES & CURIOSITIES That's a mouth full of a name I tells ya what. It's in Louisville, MS. Just three miles out of town. It's also just off of Highway 25 bypass for anyone coming from out of town. It's open on Friday's and Saturdays from 10 am till 5 pm. It has novels and graphic novels and it's also an art gallery. There's some back issues of comic books to peruse thru and a lot of grpahic novels. Graphic Novels and Trades are going to be the main focus of the store. They're not worrying over new monthly books. They would rather sell the trades with the full story contained.

Also they plan to have more independent books also. There's plenty of Novels and Paper Backs to chose from also. There are plans to have book signings every so often. There's a lot of independent authors around that you may not find in a chain book store. The Book Shack wants to have a place for people like that. The same goes for artists and cartoonists. So keep an eye on the facebook page. Https://www.facebook.com/BubbasBookShack
for announcements. There's the Art Gallery part also. There's an exhibit of coastal art by Bryan King that you can buy

Prints of right now. There's plenty of art by the owner also. More is planned to come. It's just a Book Shack in the middle of nowhere but not too far away from somewhere. Pick a Friday or a Saturday and make a trip to it. Check out the Oddities and Curiosities that they have also. See ya there my nerdlings.
