Buben Zorweg LUXURY GOODS MAKER BUBEN&Z0RWEG IS PROOF POSITIVE THAT IT PAYS TO FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS… Harald Buben and Christian Zorweg first met when they were 10-year-old schoolmates, dreaming of one day travelling the world. A trip to Australia as teenagers lit an entrepreneurial spark in the duo, who began selling Australian opals while at university. While still students, they launched Buben&Zorweg, specialising at first in luxury watch winders. They pair have not looked back since, and in 2015 Buben&Zorweg celebrates 20 years as a purveyor of fine luxury items, including incredible watch winders and collectors’ cabinets, their own brand of stunning tourbillion clocks, and more. With seven standalone boutiques and more than 25 in-shop boutiques, the company is present in more than 100 countries. Buben&Zorweg has collaborated with luxury car maker Aston Martin, and counts heads of state, royals, athletes and Hollywood stars amongst its loyal clients. It prides itself in close personal relationships with its retailers in the East and West, many having endured since the 1990s. Buben&Zorweg’s beautiful creations, made in Germany, leave no stone unturned in the quest of the ultimate in craftsmanship – and cutting edge technology. The Grande Infinity (just 75 pieces worldwide) marries a 20-piece watch cabinet, using Buben&Zorweg’s ultra-advanced Time Mover system (developed with partner brand Elma), with a beautiful pendulum clock illuminated by a sophisticated LED lighting system. The cabinet is
finished in fine, hand-stitched Italian nappa leather, and macassar wood-aluminium coated in 10 layers of high gloss “piano stardust” lacquer. And if you want to hide your prized watch collection from prying eyes, a touch of a button operates a “magic swing and hide” mechanism to swiftly conceal the timepieces. On a smaller, but no less finely engineered, scale is the Allure – a luxury table clock that can also incorporate a Time Mover watch winder or a weather station. Buben&Zorweg’s Collector Safe XXL, bristling with electronic security systems, can be configured to house watches – or guns – and again is finished to the highest specifications, including stainless steel handles with mother-of-pearl inlay, precious wood finishes and a hand-stitched Italian leather interior. And Buben&Zorweg brings its innovation and finesse to the watch wearer as well, with the stunning One Tourbillon wristwatch. Just 25 of the 48mm timepieces, housed in 18-carat rose gold, are available. The watch is powered by a Calibre BZ01 Tourbillon Manufacture hand-wound movement, with 144-hour power reserve. “We’re thrilled to mark our 20th anniversary. True luxury is to be found in the details and Buben&Zorweg is rarefied luxury at its best. We invest thought into every detail – from searching far and wide to hand select rare macassar ebony with the perfect grain and colour, to the way the doors of the Buben&Zorweg Object of Time Aston Martin One77 glide open and close remotely at the touch of a button,” says Christian Zörweg.
