Community Recreation Division
Improve Overall Fitness by using the Fitness Trail While you Enjoy the Outdoors
The Community Recreation Division Sports and Fitness Branch offers to the community a 20 Stations Fitness Trail that starts and ends in front of the Fitness Center. You can either walk or run the trail and do the exercises that are explained in each station. There is also an introductory station, close to station #1, with general instructions for the participants. The trail includes stretching exercises, abdominal exercises, such as sit-ups and leg raises, upper body strength exercises that include body raises, pushup and pull ups and even a balance walk for perception and balance. The route distance is approximately 1.3 miles. The trail uses the major muscles of the body to improve overall strength, conditioning, and burn more calories. It could be used as a circuit type workout of doing different movements which involve a cardio effect as well as strength. Also, it may be used as an interval training, by doing the exercises at the station at a high intensity and jogging or walking at a lower or even vice versa. There are route maps available at the Fitness Center with a legend indicating station number and the type of exercise to be done in each station. We invite the community to enjoy the Fort Buchanan Fitness Trail. Should you have any question call the Sports and Fitness Office at 787-707-3277.
