What it means to
be a bison “... the pursuit of athletics in college need not interfere with a fellow’s studies, and if you give a boy a well developed body his brain will get the benefit of it.” — Christy Mathewson in his book Won in the Ninth,, written in 1910 Ninth
The term “student-athlete” signifies something extraordinary on the campus of Bucknell University. Being a Bison means that you have the rare blend of physical skills along with the drive and passion needed to succeed at the highest level of collegiate athletics. Being a Bison also means that you are a scholar first and foremost. You believe that values associated with Division I athletics, such as time management, leadership, teamwork and grace under pressure, are but a part of a wellrounded college experience. At Bucknell, our students, faculty and staff pride themselves as national leaders in upholding the scholar-athlete ideal that balances a challenging academic program with the demands of successful Division I athletics. Being a Bison means that you have pledged to be a studentathlete in the purest sense. In doing so, you will be rewarded for a lifetime. Bucknell Bison Athletics A National Model in Promoting the Scholar-Athlete Ideal Bucknell Athletics is first and foremost a student-centered organization, one that strives to be a national model when it comes to operating by a true scholar-athlete model. At Bucknell, student-athletes’ academic programs are their first priority, and providing a competitive Division I athletics program only advances the mission, values and residential learning goals of the university. To that end, the Department of Athletics and Recreation proactively seeks ways to assist student-athletes in their daily academic pursuits. Below are just some of the student-athlete support programs currently in place. FACULTY ATHLETICS REPRESENTATIVE: The faculty athletics representative (FAR) is a member of the faculty or administrative staff who is designated to represent Bucknell in its relationships with the NCAA and the Patriot League. Bucknell’s FAR is Mitch Chernin, Professor of Biology. The FAR can enhance the student-athlete experience by promoting a balance between academics, athletics and the social lives of student-athletes, which affords them opportunities to enjoy the full range of collegiate experiences available to students generally. SIDELINE COACH PROGRAM: This program is a truly unique initiative in Division I college athletics, and it involves the invitation of a member of the faculty, administration, staff or community by one of Bucknell’s 27 varsity teams. The participant has the opportunity to discuss the overall program with the respective coaching staff, including practice preparation and strategy for the upcoming contest. The sideline coach attends a practice session and an actual intercollegiate competition, where he/she is introduced to the team and gains rarely seen insight into the relationships that exist between player-coach and player-player. The purpose of the Sideline Coaches Program is to foster a better understanding by the faculty and administration of the roles played by coaches and athletes in the university’s competitive intercollegiate athletic arena. ACADEMIC ENHANCEMENT CENTER: In the Fall of 2005, the Department of Athletics opened a study/computer lab for student-athletes on the concourse level of Sojka Pavilion. The center is outfitted with computers, a laser printer, four television monitors and a projection unit with computer, VCR and DVD player. Additionally, the study lab can be used as a meeting place for group projects, tutorial area or just a secluded and quiet study space before or after practice. LAPTOP PROGRAM: The Department of Athletics owns a number of laptop computers that may be signed out by student-athletes for use on away trips. STUDENT-ATHLETE ADVISORY COMMITTEE (SAAC): Representatives from each varsity team comprise the SAAC, which is designed to enhance the total studentathlete experience by promoting opportunity, protecting student-athlete welfare, and fostering a positive student-athlete image. The Committee is an invaluable resource for promoting communication between athletics administration and student-athletes; promoting communication between athletics and campus-wide administration; providing feedback and insight, as well as soliciting responses into department issues and proposed NCAA legislation; building a sense of community within the athletics program involving all athletics teams; organizing community service projects and efforts; creating a vehicle for student-athlete representation on campus-wide committees; serving as a collective voice of campus student-athletes; and disseminating information to the student-athlete body. OTHER PROGRAMMING: The Department of Athletics, through the identification of outside speakers and periodic “Brown Bag Luncheons,” thrives to enhance the quality of the student-athlete experience as well as to educate student-athletes on a variety of issues that may affect them throughout their collegiate career. Some recent topics of interest have been alcohol, nutrition, body image, hazing, sexuality, diversity, career development, study skills, religious life and gambling.

SEASON OUTLOOK A Patriot League Tournament title in 2008. A regular-season r-season Patriot League mpionship in 2010. Can crown in 2009. Another Patriot League postseason championship rs? That remains to be Bucknell make it four Patriot League titles in four years? seen, but 30th-year head coach Gene Depew certainly h hopes so. The Bison did lose the top four hitters in their record-breaking lineup to graduation, but 13 effective pitchers return, including all four regular weekend starters. With the graduation of All-Patriot League players Ben Allen, Andrew Brouse, B.J. LaRosa and Ben Yoder, Bucknell lost 202 runs scored (of team’s 392), 302 hits (of 633), 50 doubles (of 111), 34 home runs (of 75), 161 RBIs (of 355) and a combined batting average of .359 (overall team .311). While the loss of that offensive production is difficult to endure, the Bison return 425.0 of their 481.2 innings, 23 of their 25 wins and 281 of their 311 strikeouts on the mound. Entering the 2011 campaign it appears as though pitching will be the unquestioned strength for Bucknell, and that is especially comforting given the renewed importance of pitching given the more stringent bat rules that will reduce their potency. “The new bats will make it a different college baseball game,” mentioned Depew, who has piled up 545 victories during his tenure in the Bison dugout. “The new bats are not nearly as productive as what was used in the past. They are much more like wood and the game scores for everyone will be a lot lower.” Bucknell’s season opener is Feb. 18 at James Madison, while its home opener at newly remodeled Depew Field is March 23 vs. Mount St. Mary’s. Depew Field received new brick dugouts and a state-of-the-art scoreboard during the offseason, one year after adding a new FieldTurf playing surface. PITCHING STAFF: Depew is very confident in his veteran pitching staff and expects them to be very effective throughout the season. “We have five senior pitchers, which is probably the most we have ever had. And all five are serious contributors,” commented Depew. “We also have five juniors that have a lot of experience. Those guys need to be effective for us. They have to make opponents work for the runs they do give up. “We really have 16 potential pitchers and this is the first year every one of those guys is capable of being a good pitcher for us. We don’t have anyone that is a project, where we hope a year or two down the road they might be able to help us. Every one of these guys is capable of going out and giving us innings and we are going to have a lot of flexibility.” All-Patriot League right-handed seniors Dylan Seeley and Trey Frahler return to anchor the Bison starting unit. Seeley has been a regular starter since his freshman year, while Frahler has two years as a starter behind him. Seeley was a second-team selection a year ago when he posted a 5-3 record with a 4.08 ERA in a team-high 88.1 innings. He finished the regular season with three straight complete games, including a pair of 1-0 shutouts. The lanky hurler also fired the 21st two-hitter in program history. Frahler, who was an All-Patriot League performer in 2009, won four games and struck out a team-high 55 hitters in 74.2 innings last year. The starter in game one of each Patriot League regular-season series in 2010, Frahler has logged nearly 175 innings in his career. “I expect a good, solid outing from Dylan and Trey every time they go out there,” said Depew. “They have been doing it for three years now and I think they have the maturity and confidence. Neither will overpower the opposition, but they have good control and change speeds. They are going to be steady performers for us.” Junior right-hander Jack Boehm was the third starter in the rotation last year when he posted a 4-3 record in 59.1 innings. The durable Illinois native averaged nearly five innings per start and started the clinching game threes in both Patriot League Tournament series. Senior Steve Carlin and junior Ryan Ebner were the only other pitchers to start games against Patriot League opponents last year, and Depew sees them both in the mix for starter’s innings. A transfer from Arkansas-Fort Smith last year, Carlin went 3-6 in 16 appearances, one year removed from arm surgery. He started five games, but also tied for the team lead with two saves and was one of just two Bison to average more than a strikeout per inning. Ebner went 3-0 with a 5.08 ERA last year, but ended the season on a high note, registering a 3-0 record with a 1.80 ERA in three Patriot Legue Tournament appearances. He yielded just five hits in 10.0 innings and hurled five scoreless frames of relief in the clinching game three at Holy Cross.

Depew also sees sophomore Marcus Garone and junior Alex Cillo in the mix for important innings. Garone was a weekday starter a year ago, while Cillo was mainly a reliever, striking out 26 in 23.2 innings. “ l h l h d good d velocity, l b he h has h added dd d some off-speed d pitches h “Alex has always had but and improved upon the mental aspects of the game as well,” commented Depew. “He’s going to be much more of a contributor than he has been.” Senior Daniel Hart is one of the most experienced relief pitchers on the staff and he should continue to be effective. Last year he appeared in 19 games and has 42 career appearances on the mound. Fellow senior Eric Jarrett still hopes to rebound to his freshman-year form when he was among the best left-handers in the Patriot League, while juniors Matt Lamore and Russell Seidell are two-way players who should provide valuable innings in relief. Lamore, an accomplished hitter who hit .284 with three home runs and 16 RBIs last year, will likely see plenty of time at designated hitter as well. Sophomore Taylor Runge, who sat out his freshman campaign after undergoing arm surgery, should be a welcome addition. CATCHER: Two-year starter and Major League Baseball Draft choice B.J. LaRosa must be replaced, and junior Scott Reed has the inside track on the position heading into the season. The Reston, Va., native hit .254 with three home runs and 11 RBIs last year, although he was hitting a solid .318 at the time of an early-season ankle injury that sidelined him for a few weeks. Freshmen Justin Meier, who is an especially skilled defensive player, and hard-working Tom Hrabchak will likely back up Reed. FIRST BASE: There is no doubt about who Depew will pencil into his lineup at first base: senior Doug Shribman. A First Team All-Patriot League selection, Shribman had a postseason to remember when he hit seven home runs, drove in 16 runs, scored 10 runs and hit .423 in six Patriot League Tournament games to earn MVP honors. Overall, Shribman hit .359 with a Bucknell singleseason record 21 home runs and 62 RBIs. He enters 2011 second on the Bison all-time lists for home runs (27) and slugging percentage (.661) and sixth in batting average (.358). Seidell and freshman Luke Lombardi will serve as backups to Shribman, who started 59 of 60 games last spring. MIDDLE INFIELD: A lot of new faces will be around the middle infield as the Bison must replace four-year starters Allen and Yoder. Filling in for Yoder at second base will likely be sophomore Travis Clark, who hit .271 in 48 at bats last year while backing up at both shortstop and third base. Fellow sophomore Scott Glass will also be in the mix at second base. He hit .278 in 16 appearances last year. Entering the year, Clark provides more offense, while Glass is a little better defensively. Another sophomore, Robb Scott, is penciled in as the starter at shortstop. He saw action in 23 games a year ago, drawing nine starting assignments. “Robb is very solid defensively and is working hard at the offensive part,” praised Depew. “As long as he is able to come in and make the plays at shortstop, we’ll take it.” Freshman Corey Furman, a left-handed hitter, will likely enter the season as Scott’s backup at shortstop. THIRD BASE: Junior David Duffett, who started 58 of 60 games last year, returns for his second year as a regular. A solid defensive player who has shown flashes of ability to produce offensively, Duffett will be expected to show more consistency at the plate this year. He hit .225 and drove in 20 runs from the No. 8 and 9 holes in the lineup. Freshman Will Mooney, who Depew refers to as a solid player, will back up Duffett. OUTFIELD: Two-thirds of last year’s starting lineup returns with senior Drew Constable (.302, 4 HR, 36 RBI) in left and junior Bob Donato (.315, 6 HR, 29 RBI) in center. However, the loss of Patriot League Player of the Year Brouse leaves a gaping hole in right. Heading into the year, Depew expects junior Gerry Runyan, a native of Milton, Pa., to be the frontrunner for the position after a strong fall campaign. Juniors Lamore and Mark Figgie, as well as sophomore Matt Busch, could also see time in the outfield. Additionally, the versatile Seidell has spent some time taking fly balls. High school center fielders freshmen Chet Otis and Colby Vanderbeck and fellow rookie Brett Ashley will also compete for time. Depew calls Otis the fastest person on the team, while Ashley’s 6-3, 235 frame is imposing.
2010 BUCKNELL BASEBALL
BISON NOTEBOOK • Bucknell won its fifth Patriot League title and appeared in n the NCAA Tournament for the fifth time in 2010. The Bison also won league titles and advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 1996, 2001, 2003 and 2008.
• Bucknell enters 2011 having won 20 games for three consecutive years, the first time it has accomplished that feat since reaching that milestone six consecutive years from 1996 to 2001.
• Bucknell set a number of team records in 2010. The Bison set the following records: • Runs Scored: 392 (old record: 375 in 2000) • Doubles: 111 (old record: 96 in 2008) • Home Runs: 75 (old record: 50 in 1997) • Total Bases: 991 (old record: 837 in 2008) • RBIs: 355 (old record: 328 in 2008) • Put Outs: 1,445 (old record: 1,415 in 2008) • Assists: 602 (old record: 601 in 2008) • Innings Pitched: 481.2 (old record: 471.2 in 2008) • Games Played: 60 (old record: 56 in 2008) • Fielding Percentage: .972 (old record: .960 in 2001)
• Bucknell’s fielding percentage in 2010 was a strong .972, a figure that easily paced the Patriot League and was the best in program history, eclipsing the .960 fielding percentage the 2001 squad posted. The Bison, who had 19 errorless games during the regular season, did not commit an error in six of eight postseason outings.
• Bucknell individuals set a number of individual single-season records in 2010. Following is a list of those new standards: • Games Played: 60, Ben Allen/Andrew Brouse (old record: 56) • Games Started: 60, Ben Allen/Andrew Brouse (old record: 55) • At Bats: 249, Ben Allen (old record: 209) • Runs Scored: 60, Andrew Brouse (old record: 58) • Home Runs: 21, Doug Shribman (old record: 14) • Total Bases: 160, Doug Shribman (old record: 130)
• Bucknell used just five different starting pitchers in the 26 games against Patriot League opponents last year, including the postseason. Trey Frahler and Dylan Seeley, along with Jack Boehm, made seven starts apiece, including all six postseason starts. Steve Carlin started in each of the first four Patriot League series, but sophomore Ryan Ebner replaced him in the final series at Army.
• Bucknell individuals also registered three new career records in 2010: • At Bats: 691, Ben Allen (old record: 683) • Hits: 222, Ben Allen (old record: 217) • Home Runs: 30, Andrew Brouse (old record: 24) • Doug Shribman (21), Andrew Brouse (17) and Ben Yoder (11) combined for 49 home runs in 2010. That figure was just one shy of the previous singleseason team mark of 50 that had stood since 1997.
• Despite its 25-35 overall record, Bucknell outscored its opponents (392-386) in 2010. • Bucknell’s six All-Patriot League selections in 2010 tied Holy Cross for the league lead. Of the six selections (Allen, Brouse, LaRosa, Seeley, Shribman, Yoder), five were multiple-time honorees.
• Doug Shribman enters the 2011 campaign three home runs shy of equaling Andrew Brouse’s program career record of 30. As recently as four years ago only three Bison had ever hit 20 home runs in a career. That number has swelled to six with the recent additions of Brouse, Shribman and 2008 graduate Jason Buursma. • 2010 graduates Ben Allen and Andrew Brouse were named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District II First Team for the second consecutive year in 2010. It marked the fifth straight year at least two Bison baseball players were recognized. The Bucknell baseball program has had at least one Academic All-District selection in 11 of the last 12 years. Overall, 39 Bison have been cited a total of 58 times since 1983.
• The 38 combined home runs for Doug Shribman (21) and Andrew Brouse (17) in 2010 marked the most by a pair of Bison teammates in program history. The previous high was 21 by Jason Buursma (13) and John Avanzino (8) in 2008. • Bucknell hit .335 as a team with 17 home runs and 45 runs batted in during the six-game 2010 Patriot League Tournament. Highlighting the postseason was tournament MVP Doug Shribman, who hit .423 with seven home runs and 16 RBIs. Four Bison hit over .420 and seven different players hit at least one home run. The top five hitters in the Bucknell lineup, who were all AllPatriot League selections during the regular season, hit a combined .402 (53for-132).

COACHING STAFF #33 Gene Depew
Head Coach • 30th th S Season Bucknell ’71 7 At Bucknell: 545-632-7 Guided by four-time Patriot League Coach of the Year, Gene Depew, the Bucknell baseball team annually ranks near the top of the Patriot League. The Bison have been especially successful over the last 15 years, finishing in the top two in the Patriot League eight times, winning five Patriot League Tournament titles and claiming the regular-season crown six times. Additionally, Depew has guided Bucknell to five NCAA Tournament appearances over that span. Since 1996, Bucknell has broken the 20-win plateau 12 times, including three 30-win campaigns, and Depew’s career winning percentage of .463 (545632-7) is the best at Bucknell since William Lane’s career ended in 1957. Depew, who is entering his 30th season in the dugout as the Bison head coach, shows no signs of slowing down as he has guided Bucknell to a Patriot League title in each of the last three seasons. In 2008 and 2010 the Bison won PL Tournament crowns, while in 2009 they claimed the regular-season championship. Last spring’s title was Bucknell’s fifth tournament crown and NCAA berth under Depew’s watch. The fourth-seeded Bison won best-of-three series at topseeded Army and second-seeded Holy Cross on back-to-back weekends to claim their second Patriot League crown in three years. In 2009, Depew helped the Bison earn their sixth regular-season Patriot League title as he oversaw a 13-7 conference campaign. In 2008, Depew guided Bucknell to perhaps the biggest win in program history when it defeated No. 4 nationally ranked Florida State 7-0 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. It was just the fourth time a Patriot League team won an NCAA postseason game. On an individual level, Depew has won the Patriot League Coach of the Year award four times (1993, 1996, 2003, 2009), has had three Patriot League Pitchers of the Year (Mike Tomko, 1996; Mike Anders, 1998; Kevin Miller, 2003), four Players of the Year (Kevin Silverman, 1996; Frank Fresconi, 2000; Jason Buursma, 2008; Andrew Brouse, 2010) and two Rookies of the Year (Phil Futrick, 2003; Ben Yoder, 2007). Depew has also led 60 student-athletes to 95 Patriot League first- and second-team accolades. In the classroom, Bucknell baseball has had 11 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-Americans since 1992, including Jason Buursma, who was named to the first team in 2008. A 1971 Bucknell graduate, Depew has the longest tenure of any coach in Bucknell baseball history. At 30 years, he has headed the program twice as long as second-place Tommy Thompson, who served as head coach for 15 years. He has directed his teams to 545 victories, five times the amount of any coach in school history. To honor that, Bucknell’s baseball field was renamed Depew Field during the 2003 season. A native of Mifflintown, Pa., Depew was the recipient of both bachelor and master of science degrees in education from Bucknell. Football was the first sport for which Depew was a coach, as he oversaw the Bison gridders’ defensive line from 1972-1992. It was in 1974 that Depew began his current occupation, first as an assistant coach for the baseball team until 1981, after which he assumed the lead role. As an undergraduate, Depew was a standout football player for the Bison. He was a three-year letterwinner and co-captained the squad in 1970. He played every position on the defensive line, and was described by his head coach as “being as hard-nosed as they come. He has excellent speed and size for a defensive lineman.” In 1969, he was named All-Middle Atlantic Conference honorable mention. Depew has two brothers who also played football for Bucknell, Terry (’73) and Alvin (’81). Depew and his wife, Debbie, reside in Mifflinburg and are the parents of a daughter, Erin, a 2006 graduate of Bucknell, and a son, William, a 2010 Bucknell graduate.

COACHING/SUPPORT STAFF #34 Scott Heather
#44 Jim Gulden
Assistant Coach ach h • Seventh S v th Season S Arkansas rkansas ’03 Former University of Arkansas pitcher Scott Heather begins his seventh season as pitching coach for the Bison. Under Heather’s direction, Bucknell’s pitching staff has posted an ERA of under 4.50 three times. The staff had a 4.30 ERA in 2006, marking the team’s lowest since 1983 (4.10). During his tenure, Heather has tutored a number of outstanding pitchers, including 2008 graduates Jason Buursma and Mathew Wilson. Those two former Bison claimed back-to-back Patriot League ERA titles, while Buursma earned a pair of First Team All-Patriot League selections as a relief pitcher. Wilson, who was the 2007 Patriot League ERA champion, was a Second Team All-Patriot League selection in 2008, broke the school record for career shutouts (5) and pitched a complete-game shutout against nationally ranked Florida State in the NCAA Tournament. Last year, Heather helped current seniors Trey Frahler and Dylan Seeley become one of the best pair of starters in the Patriot League. Seeley was a Second Team All-Patriot League selection, while Frahler was among the league leaders in ERA, strikeouts, innings, starts and complete games. Frahler and then-senior Chris Yamaguchi finished second and third, respectively, in the Patriot League ERA race in 2009 under Heather’s watch. Yamaguchi bounced back from arm surgery, while Frahler improved his ERA by nearly 6.00 from his rookie campaign. Heather has seen a pitcher from the Bison staff selected in three of the last five Major League Baseball Drafts. Buursma was drafted in 2007 (42nd round by Seattle Mariners) and 2008 (25th round by St. Louis Cardinals), while Kyle Walter was selected in the 18th round of the 2006 draft by the Toronto Blue Jays. Heather worked closely with Walter during his days in Orange and Blue to transition from position player to pitcher. In addition to his duties with the Bucknell pitching staff, Heather serves as the primary recruiter for the Bison. Prior to his arrival in Lewisburg in the summer of 2004, Heather served as an assistant coach for Arkansas-Fort Smith from 1999 to 2004. Heather began his playing career at Arizona Western College in Yuma, Ariz., where he was MVP of the 1996 team that was ranked third nationally, before moving on to Arkansas. Heather lettered for the Razorbacks as a pitcher in 1997 and 1998, then became a student assistant in 1999 when Arkansas won its first Southeastern Conference championship. He also pitched professionally for the Duluth Dukes of the Northern League in 1998.
Assistant Coach • Fifth Season Cleveland State ’05 Lewisburg native Jim Gulden enters his fifth season as an assistant coach for Bucknell and is responsible for working with the Bison hitters and catchers while also serving as the team’s game-day bullpen coach. Gulden was drafted out of Lewisburg Area High School, where he graduated in 2000, by the Montreal Expos in the 47th round. He attended Virginia Tech and was a member of the Hokies’ baseball squad for two years before transferring to Cleveland State, where he graduated in 2005 with a degree in communications. Gulden previously served as head junior varsity baseball coach and varsity assistant coach at Lewisburg High School.
#39 Jason Neitz
Assistant Coach • First Season East Carolina ’06 Former professional baseball player Jason Neitz joined the Bucknell staff in the winter of 2011. A native of nearby Mifflinburg, Pa., Neitz was drafted in the 37th round of the 2007 Major League Baseball Draft by the San Francisco Giants. A 2002 graduate of Mifflinburg Area High School, Neitz played baseball for four years at East Carolina before graduating in the fall of 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in physical education. A left-handed pitcher, Neitz was 3-2 with an ERA of 4.71 in 80.1 career innings over 43 appearances with the Pirates. He recorded 55 strikeouts. Neitz played professionally for four seasons, three in the Giants organization, and most recently one with the Washington Wild Things. Neitz got his start in the coaching profession as an assistant at Mifflinburg Area High School in the spring of 2010.
Bob Curtis
Fitness & Conditioning St. Lawrence ’58 The Bucknell baseball team’s strength and conditioning is in the hands of Bob Curtis, a former Bucknell football coach, and fitness and conditioning coordinator Jerry Shreck. They have at their disposal Bucknell’s top-notch 15,000 square foot Krebs Family Fitness Center, which opened during the 2002-03 school year. The general philosophy of the Bison fitness program is year-round periodization with a high-intensity base, supplemented with functional and sport-specific training. Training programs for most teams will employ explosion techniques with power bands and pliometrics. The ultimate goal of the fitness and conditioning program is the prevention of injuries and training athletes to their peak physical condition, as opposed to training for bodybuilding. As the head football coach from 1975-85, Curtis compiled a 48-56-3 record. His 48 wins are tied for the most wins by any coach in school history.

The Plan for Bucknell Bucknell is a unique national university where liberal arts and professional programs complement each other, where 3,583 full-time students are educated for a lifetime of critical thinking and strong leadership. For nearly 170 years, the University has remained true to its fundamental purpose: to educate and prepare students for lives that make a difference and have a positive impact on the world. In keeping with that purpose, the University has developed The Plan for Bucknell, which includes its collective vision — “To provide students with the premier undergraduate experience in American higher education.” The Plan comprises five strategies. Strengthen the Academic Core aims to ensure that a Bucknell education is challenging and engaging, with openness to new ideas and a culture of innovation; Deepen the Residential Learning Experience will provide a residential learning and living experience that complements the academic program, integrates the athletics and recreation program and promotes personal growth and development and civic and ethical responsibility; Enhance Diversity is a commitment to diversity in all its forms within a civil and supportive environment of open exchange to prepare Bucknell graduates to live and work in a globally integrated and intercultural world; Build Bridges will bring the world to Bucknell — through visiting scholars and sports teams, international students and alumni, guest speakers, international focus semesters, and electronic communications — and bring Bucknell to the world through strategic partnerships and community engagement activities as well as opportunities for off-campus study and faculty research; Secure Our Financial Future will secure resources necessary to engage new opportunities, lessen dependence on tuition, and ensure our financial future. The Plan for Bucknell was unanimously approved by the Board of Trustees on April 29, 2006, having previously been approved by the students and faculty. We have begun implementing it and are determined to make it a reality over the next decade.
