Bucknell takes great pride in its commitment to excellence on and off the playing fields. From Presidents’ Cups to Academic All-Americans to graduation rates that are ranked annually in the national top-10, Bucknell is clearly at the head of the class when it comes to upholding the scholar-athlete ideal. •
According to federal data released by the NCAA each fall, Bucknell’s student-athlete graduation rate annually ranks in the top 10 among all Division I institutions. Bucknell has led the nation in graduation rates three times, including in the most recent survey in the fall of 2013.

Bucknell has claimed a league-high 131 Patriot League Scholar-Athletes of the Year since the league’s inception as an all-sports conference in 1990-91.

A total of 399 Bison appeared on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll in 2012-13 after recording a GPA of 3.2 or better during their sport’s competition season. Among all BU student-athletes, 509 made the Dean’s List with GPAs of 3.5 or better during 2012-13.

Bucknell Bison Athletics
A National Model in Promoting the Scholar-Athlete Ideal Bucknell Athletics is first and foremost a student-centered organization, one that strives to be a national leader when it comes to operating by a true scholar-athlete model. At Bucknell, student-athletes’ academic programs are their first priority, and providing a competitive Division I athletics program only advances the mission, values and residential learning goals of the university. To that end, the Department of Athletics and Recreation proactively seeks ways to assist student-athletes in their daily academic pursuits. Below are just some of the student-athlete support programs currently in place. BUCKNELL BISON LEADERSHIP ACADEMY: In 2011-12, the Department of Athletics launched the Bucknell Bison Leadership Academy. This program is designed to help student-athletes learn how to be effective leaders on and off the playing fields. The Leadership Academy features programming and instruction that bridge theory, development and real experiences in an interactive learning environment. Through this endeavor, team leaders can enhance their impact on their teammates’ and their program’s performance immediately and for years to come. FACULTY ATHLETICS REPRESENTATIVE: The faculty athletics representative (FAR) is a member of the faculty or administrative staff who is designated to represent Bucknell in its relationships with the NCAA and the Patriot League. Bucknell’s FAR is Mitch Chernin, Professor of Biology. The FAR can enhance the student-athlete experience by promoting a balance between academics, athletics and the social lives of student-athletes, which affords them opportunities to enjoy a full range of collegiate experiences. SIDELINE COACH PROGRAM: This program is a truly unique initiative in Division I college athletics, and it involves the invitation of a member of the faculty, administration, staff or community by one of Bucknell’s 27 varsity teams. The participant has the opportunity to discuss the overall program with the respective coaching staff, including practice preparation and strategy for the upcoming contest. The sideline coach attends a practice session and an actual intercollegiate competition, where he/she is introduced to the team and gains rarely seen insight into the relationships that exist between player-coach and player-player. The purpose of the Sideline Coaches Program is to foster a better understanding by the faculty and administration of the roles played by coaches and athletes in the university’s competitive intercollegiate athletic arena. ACADEMIC ENHANCEMENT CENTER: In the Fall of 2005, the Department of Athletics opened a study/computer lab for student-athletes on the concourse level of Sojka Pavilion. The center is outfitted with computers, a laser printer, four television monitors and a projection unit with computer, VCR and DVD player. Additionally, the study lab can be used as a meeting place for group projects, tutorial area or just a secluded and quiet study space before or after practice. In addition, the Department of Athletics owns a number of laptop computers that may be signed out by student-athletes for use on away trips. STUDENT-ATHLETE ADVISORY COMMITTEE (SAAC): Representatives from each varsity team comprise the SAAC, which is designed to enhance the total student-athlete experience by promoting opportunity, protecting student-athlete welfare, and fostering a positive student-athlete image. The Committee is an invaluable resource for promoting communication between athletics administration and student-athletes; promoting communication between athletics and campus-wide administration; providing feedback and insight, as well as soliciting responses into department issues and proposed NCAA legislation; building a sense of community within the athletics program involving all athletics teams; organizing community service projects and efforts; creating a vehicle for student-athlete representation on campus-wide committees; serving as a collective voice of campus student-athletes; and disseminating information to the student-athlete body. Among the programs the Bucknell SAAC has undertaken in recent years are regular volunteer trips to the Lewisburg Food Bank, and involvement with the “Orange and Blue goes Green” sustainability program. BISON GOOD SPORTS: Now in its seventh year, Bison Good Sports is a sportsmanship awareness program designed to promote appropriate fan conduct at all Bison sporting events. Bucknell teams have some of the best fan support in the Patriot League, and we encourage all fans to enthusiastically cheer on the Orange & Blue in a positive manner.

Bucknell Athletics Facilities THE KENNETH LANGONE ATHLETICS & RECREATION CENTER The Bucknell University Department of Athletics and Recreation prides itself on setting the standard of excellence when it comes to success both on the playing fields and in the classroom. With 18 Patriot League Presidents’ Cups in 23 years, national leadership in graduation rates, 125 Academic All-Americans in 43 years and 131 Patriot League Scholar-Athletes in 23 years, Bucknell is clearly at the head of the class in terms of upholding the scholar-athlete model. The addition of the Kenneth G. Langone Athletics and Recreation Center, one of the finest collegiate athletics and recreation venues of its kind, ensures the continuation of that success. The facility, which celebrated its 10th birthday in 2012-13, has enhanced each of Bucknell’s 27 varsity programs and has greatly expanded the scope of its growing intramural and recreational sports offerings. A visually appealing structure located along Moore Avenue on the “downhill” side of campus, the Langone Athletics and Recreation Center was designed to reach out to all members of the campus community, including the student body, varsity student-athletes, faculty, staff and alumni. Three primary venues lie within the facility: the Arthur D. Kinney Jr. Natatorium, the 4,000-seat Gary A. Sojka Pavilion and the Krebs Family Fitness Center. Other features include a new location for the Bucknell Athletics Hall of Fame, a display of Bucknell’s Congressional Medal of Honor recipients, a brand new display highlighting Bucknell’s all-time Academic All-Americans, a sports medicine and athletic training suite, classrooms, modern offices for coaches and staff and increased locker room space for varsity and recreational athletes. The facility is named in honor of Ken Langone, a 1957 Bucknell graduate who, along with his wife Elaine, pledged $11 million toward the center’s construction. Langone was a member of the university Board of Trustees from 1980 to 1996. One of the special qualities of the Langone Athletics and Recreation Center is the manner in which it supplements the pre-existing facilities. The construction surrounds Gerhard Fieldhouse and historic Davis Gymnasium, which has been restored as a competition venue for the Bison wrestling and volleyball teams, as well as intramural, recreation and other varsity practice activities. As Bucknell continues to strive toward its mission of setting the standard of excellence in college athletics, the Langone Athletics and Recreation Center becomes the centerpiece in an already impressive cache of athletics facilities that includes the 13,100-seat Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium and its new FieldTurf and 8-lane track surface; the scenic Bucknell Golf Club and brand new Bachman Golf Center; the newly refurbished Depew Field (baseball) and Becker Field (softball); and Emmitt Field and Graham Field at Holmes Stadium, the new portion of the West Fields project that includes covered grandstand seats, ticket and concession areas, team rooms, a training room and a press box area for soccer, field hockey and women’s lacrosse.

The term “student-athlete” signifies something extraordinary on the campus of Bucknell University. BISON RETURN PLENTY OF FIREPOWER IN NEW-LOOK PATRIOT LEAGUE IN 2014
senior sophie kleinert As Randall Goldsborough enters year No. 3 of her second stint as head coach of the Bucknell women’s lacrosse team, she can finally talk about having depth among a balance of classes. Whereas her previous teams relied heavily on younger players, the 2014 Bison are led by a strong group of eight seniors and 10 juniors who will occupy key positions while also helping to mentor a very promising first-year class. Bucknell finished 5-12 last season, but it was building momentum as the campaign concluded. The Bison won four of their last six games, including a thrilling 10-9 Senior Day win over Holy Cross that snapped a 26-game Patriot League losing streak. Now the Bison return nine starters, including 2013 leading scorer and two-time All-Patriot League selection Katelyn Miller. “We finally feel like we are not behind the ball coming into a season in terms of having to teach our system, because we have so many veteran players who have been through it,” said Goldsborough, whose team will play five top-20 opponents this spring, including three straight to start the season. “We have a strong senior class that really wants to win. Every senior is an extraordinarily good leader, whether they are getting playing time or not. That attitude helps our program for the future. All of our returning players are competing at a higher level, and then you add in an impact freshman class and we are in such a better place. “The Holy Cross win was huge,” added Goldsborough. “Beating a playoff team was so big for our confidence and our progress. It got that burden off our shoulders, and that streak is now in the past. It’s going to take a lot of work, but we feel like we can be a playoff team. We have a good system in place, and now it’s about the players thriving in it and being creative in it.” Miller is one of the best two-way midfielders in the Patriot League, and she was asked to carry much of the offensive load last year after highscoring attacker Arriana Sajjad went down with a season-ending knee injury in the second game of the season at Penn State. Miller led the team in goals (39), points (52) and caused turnovers (24)

junior arriana sajjad and ranked second on the squad in ground balls (29) and draw controls (40). The 2012 and 2013 Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Miller ranked in the top 10 in the conference in goals and points last season, and she enters her senior year ranked ninth in goals (98), 10th in assists (38), eighth in points (136), fourth in draw controls (110) and fourth in caused turnovers (68) on Bucknell’s career lists. “Kat has grown exponentially over the last three years,” said Goldsborough. “She knows all of her options, and she doesn’t always have to just drive to goal. She understands the flow of the game, and she just plays so hard. She gets most of the 50-50 balls and has also turned in to an outstanding defender. She is one of our fiercest competitors, and she sets a great example for the younger players to emulate.” Sajjad has recovered from that knee injury, and she is hoping to return to her 2012 form when she led the team with 38 goals and 51 points. Sajjad had multi-goal games against Duke and Penn State, and she had six goals, including the overtime winner, in a thrilling 16-15 victory over Liberty. “We are really excited to have Arriana back,” said Goldsborough. “Her presence is enormous in our low attack, and we need her ability to go 1-on1. Her shot is so strong, and she has the ability to dodge and shoot.” Senior Lindsey Ferro is also coming back after missing all of 2013 with a knee injury, and she is the elder statesman of the attack unit. An outstanding feeder, Ferro led the team and ranked third in the Patriot League with 21 assists as a sophomore in 2012. “For a player who has missed so much time due to injuries, Lindsey is doing great,” said Goldsborough. “She is like having another coach, she was such a big help to me when she was injured last year. Lindsey is a very smart player with good vision, and she is a great role model for the younger players.” Junior Emily Kookogey is a probable starter at attack after a terrific fall season. Kookogey started every game and scored 31 goals as a freshman in
2012, but last year she was limited to nine goals in 10 games. Now Goldsborough thinks she has regained her form. “Emily was probably our most improved player in the fall,” said Goldsborough. “We have seen a huge difference in confidence from her, and she is playing like an all-league player right now.” Juniors Carly Downs, Claire Switala and Chloe Chou are all battling for time at attack. Switala missed the fall season while studying in Italy, but she has had a strong preseason as an off-ball crease finisher. Downs is also an off-ball attacker, while Chou is a feeder. Freshmen Christina Manis and Bridget Shaffrey are expected to see significant time right away, and walk-on Courtney Burke gives the Bison added depth at attack. “Christina is one of the best feeders I’ve seen,” said Goldsborough. “Not only can she feed on a dime, but she can roll the crease well and score on her own. The one word to describe Bridget is ‘power.’ She is very strong going to goal, and she is still learning when to use different dodges. When she does get separation she can rip a shot. It’s going to be fun to see what both of them can do.” Miller has plenty of support in the midfield, most notably from versatile senior co-captain Sophie Kleinert. One of Kleinert’s main responsibilities is taking draws, and she enters her senior season ranked eighth on Bucknell’s all-time list for draw controls with 82. Offensively, Kleinert scored 12 goals last season, and she has 31 in her career. She is also a strong defender and is annually one of the team’s ground ball leaders. “Sophie has been our all-around most consistent player,” Goldsborough said. “She is one of our smartest off-ball players on offense. She is extremely knowledgeable about the game and always finds a way to get open. She would be a good coach someday, because she gets the nuances of the game and is extremely coachable herself.” Sophomore Sam Rickels and juniors Cori Thielemann and Blair McDonald all bring plenty of experience back to the midfield unit. Last year Thielemann started nine games and scored 12 goals, and there was no bigger goal all season than her game-winner with 8:29 to play in the 10-9 win over Holy Cross. The speedy McDonald has scored 11 goals over the last two years primarily as a reserve middie. Rickels started every game as a freshman in 2013 and was the team’s top rookie scorer with 14 goals and five assists. “Blair is really coming on,” said Goldsborough. “She is our fastest sprinter and has become much more vocal. She is a very important part of our transition game, and we are going to ask a lot of her this year. Cori is a very steady and smart player, and we are asking her to play more on defense this year. When we do get her on the offensive end, she is a good lefty finisher. Sam is also very fast and adds a lot to the offense. She is a natural leader, and she is also a very good rider who can get the ball back for us.” Keep an eye on sophomore Ally Furbay, who was still recovering from a knee injury when she arrived at Bucknell and thus did not see much game action last year. This year Goldsborough says she is playing with tremendous confidence and has been very good on the draw circle. sophomore sam rickels Molinari, Haley Hauser, Becca Golding, Lindsey Trachtenberg and Phebe Wong. “Maddy played field hockey in the fall but has regained her lacrosse legs,” Goldsborough said. “She was one of the top players on Long Island last year, and she is a smart, explosive player who can play defense and score goals. Haley is coming into her own and has an explosive first step. She takes draws and has good height and wingspan. Becca has amazing endurance, and she has the potential to be an impact player when she gets more confidence with her decision-making with the ball. Lindsey always goes hard no matter what side of the field she is on. She is playing great on defense and also goes hard to goal. Phebe was a late addition after coming to our summer camp. We love her ability on draw controls after the graduation of Adrienne Wendling.” On defense, seniors Andrea Feldman, Liz Gauf and Kerri Althouse, along with junior Alex Wallace, are all returning starters. Bucknell has played 50 games over the last three years, and Feldman has started 49, Gauf 41 and Althouse 34 of them. Feldman recorded 17 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers last season. Althouse had 22 ground balls and 15 caused turnovers, while Gauf forced 12 turnovers and picked up 10 ground balls. Wallace is a two-year starter and scooped 18 ground balls in 2013. “Andrea keeps getting sharper and sharper, and she is one of our toughest defenders,” said Goldsborough. “She has learned how to communicate with everyone on the field, and she has worked extremely hard on her stick skills. Liz has significantly matured as a team leader and as a defender over the last four years. She is such a tremendous leader on and off the field and is very involved on campus. On the field her fitness is better than ever, and her confidence has gone through the roof. You always want to see players peaking in their senior year, and she is doing that. “Kerri is a quiet leader by example. She is one of the fastest players on the team and brings great speed coming out of the back. Alex’s strength is her communication. She is a very good team defender.” Senior co-captain Char Damico has battled injuries over the last two seasons and will at least start out on the injured list in 2014. “Char has always been one of our best com-

municators on defense, and she has a great eye for opposing attackers’ strengths and weaknesses,” said Goldsborough. “We are counting on her to give us an extra set of eyes on the sideline.” Junior Caroline Collins found a niche last season playing on the draw circle. She collected 18 draw controls in 11 games, including four big ones in that win over Holy Cross. Sophomore Rennie Tankersley is much-improved after appearing in three games last season. “Caroline has a valuable skill set and is fierce between the 30s,” said Goldsborough. “We can use her on the draw and she wins us possessions. Rennie is a consistent defender who is good at reading off-ball. She intercepts passes well and is a really hard worker.” The Bison appear to have a pair of impact freshmen defenders in Annie Gilbertson and Lucia Smircich, both of whom are ticketed for playing time very soon. “Annie is not afraid to challenge an attacker, and she is very confident when she gets the ball in her stick,” said Goldsborough. “Her 1-on-1 defending is very strong, and she is getting used to our team defensive concept. Lucia is just a natural defender. She understands our team defense and is also very confident clearing the ball up the field. Depending on the formation that we play, it is going to be tough to keep her off the field.” Bucknell will have four goalies on the roster this spring. Junior Caroline O’Neill is the returning starter, with senior Emily Fask and sophomore Charlotte O’Donnell also back in the mix. Freshman Elizabeth Duswalt will be pushing for the starting job. O’Neill started every game last season and has 31 career appearances under her belt. “As a junior, Caroline has a hold of all aspects of what it takes to be a good goalie,” said Goldsborough. “Confidence is no longer an issue for her. Emily loves being on our team. She has not gotten the playing time, but she works just as hard and has accepted her role, and her teammates really look up to her for that. Charlotte has been set back by injury and illness, but she is healthy now and has been very steady. Elizabeth Duswalt has the ability to make big saves. She sees the ball well and clears it well. The more confident she gets with our system, the better her communication will be.” The Bison will be tested early and often with
another very difficult schedule this spring, one that is stiffened even further by the addition of Loyola Maryland and Boston University to the Patriot League. The Bison are slated to play five teams ranked in the Brine Top-20 Preseason Media Poll. The Bison open the season at No. 14 Stony Brook. Four days later No. 7 Penn State comes to Graham Field for the home opener at 4 p.m. Johns Hopkins, tied for the No. 20 spot in the poll, will host Bucknell at Homewood Field on Feb. 22, making it three straight ranked foes to start the season. When Patriot League play rolls around, Bucknell will battle No. 12 Navy and No. 10 Loyola, both at home just three days apart in mid-March. Bucknell will also host non-conference games against Villanova, Marist and Howard, and the Bison will visit Duquesne and Saint Francis (Pa.). “Our schedule is very tough, and that is something that we will always try to do,” said Goldsborough. “The student-athletes in our program and that we are recruiting want to test themselves against the best, and someday soon we want to be in that class with them.” Along with the addition of Loyola and Boston University comes an expanded Patriot League Tournament in 2014. Six teams will now qualify for the postseason, with the top two seeds receiving first-round byes. The third and fourth seeds will host quarterfinal games, and then the No. 1 seed will host the semifinals and final during the last weekend in April. Loyola was picked as the preseason favorite by the league’s head coaches and sports information directors, followed by Navy, Boston University and Holy Cross. The Bison were picked ninth in the nineteam league, but Goldsborough feels her team will be unfazed by those projections. “They understand why we were picked last, and they want to prove people wrong,” said Goldsborough. “This program is going to get turned around, and our seniors want that to be their legacy.”

RANDALL GOLDSBOROUGH HEAD COACH 5th SEASON
Randall Goldsborough, a former standout player at the University of Maryland and with the U.S. National Team, is in the third year of her second stint as Bucknell’s head women’s lacrosse coach. Goldsborough previously coached the Bison in 2003 and 2004, leading the team to .500 or better records and berths in the Patriot League Tournament both years, and she returned to the Bucknell sideline prior to the 2012 campaign. In her first two seasons at Bucknell, Goldsborough coached back-toback Patriot League Offensive Players of the Year in Suzanne Raffaele and Meredith Wright, as well as a PL Defensive Player of the Year in goalie Nicole Kallis. The Bison finished 8-8 in 2003 and 8-7 in 2004, and in 2003 they defeated Colgate in the Patriot League Tournament semifinals to reach the championship game for the first time in program history. Goldsborough’s 2004 team placed a national-best 10 student-athletes on the IWLCA All-Academic Team, and that squad’s 3.43 combined gradepoint average was the second-best mark in the nation. “We are certainly pleased and excited to welcome Randall Goldsborough back to Bucknell,” said director of athletics and recreation John Hardt in announcing her hiring in June 2010. “In her two previous seasons here, she was highly regarded by her student-athletes and our entire staff, and we were sorry to see her leave us after the 2004 season. Randall has achieved success at every level of lacrosse as both a player and coach, and she is adept at passing on all the experiences that she has collected through the years.” “I am absolutely thrilled to be back at Bucknell,” said Goldsborough. “I’d like to thank John Hardt for giving me this opportunity. It was really insightful talking to John and the staff and some of the student-athletes on the team throughout the search process, and I really came away with the feeling that everyone here is excited about the future of the program and the success that we know we can have. The timing is perfect for me to come back and take over a program that I feel is capable of achieving

a lot of success in the very near future. Bucknell has always had a special place in my heart ever since I left, and I have been waiting for the right chance to get back. We have a lot of work in front of us, but there is a lot of talent on the team, and I can’t wait to sprint right back into it and get started again.” Following the 2004 campaign, Goldsborough departed Bucknell to continue her international playing career while also serving as girls’ athletic director and varsity lacrosse and soccer coach at The Bullis School in Potomac, Md. In 2007 she headed west to become assistant women’s lacrosse coach and recruiting coordinator at Stanford, where she helped lead the Cardinal to the MPSF championship. Since the 2007-08 academic year, Goldsborough has been serving as a physical education and health teacher as well as head girls’ lacrosse and soccer coach and assistant basketball coach at Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C. A 1997 Maryland graduate with a degree in kinesiological sciences, Goldsborough was part of three NCAA championship teams in College Park. A student-athlete on the Terrapins lacrosse squad from 1993-96, the four-year starter was a member of Maryland’s back-to-back national championship teams in 1995 and 1996. In addition, she served as an assistant coach for her alma mater when the Terps won their third consecutive national title in 1997. She went on to serve as an assistant coach at North Carolina in 1998, where she helped the Tar Heels reach the NCAA Final Four. After a oneyear stint as lacrosse and soccer coach at her alma mater St. Mary’s High School in Annapolis, Md., in the fall of 1999 she earned her first collegiate head coaching position at Division III Franklin & Marshall. While in that role, she led the team to a top-15 national ranking in each season, while also consistently coaching players to regional and national All-America status. She accumulated a 26-22 record with the Diplomats and led her team to two straight Centennial Conference semifinal appearances. An active participant in national coaching camps and clinics since 1993, Goldsborough has also been heavily involved in lacrosse on the international level. She was a member of the U.S. National Team from 1994-2006 and was part of gold medal-winning U.S. World Cup squad in 2001. Goldsborough, who also played on the soccer team at Maryland, has been a consultant to the Wales national women’s lacrosse team, and in 2010 she coached a team with the Rebels Lacrosse Club. In the summer of 2013, Goldsborough served as an assistant coach with the Haudenosaunee Nation team at the Women’s World Cup in Oshawa, Canada. She helped the squad to a seventh-place finish out of 19 teams.

2014 bucknell WOmen’s lacrosse FORREST STILLWELL ASSISTANT COACH 3rd SEASON
One of Randall Goldsborough’s first tasks upon her return to Bucknell as head women’s lacrosse coach was to hire Forrest Stillwell as her assistant coach. Since 2007, Stillwell had served as head varsity girls’ lacrosse coach at Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School in Atlanta, Ga., prior to coming to Bucknell. Stillwell, who is involved in all aspects of on-field coaching, scouting and recruiting at Bucknell, was one of the most successful high school coaches in the state of Georgia after taking over a program without a winning tradition. While supervising a staff of five coaches, he helped lead Holy Innocents’ to the 2011 state championship game as well as the 2010 state semifinals. Stillwell was selected to coach in a statewide all-star game in both 2008 and 2009, all this even though the team finished 2-15 the year before his arrival. In addition to his duties as head girls’ lacrosse coach, Stillwell was also an outdoor and physical education teacher, where he implemented a new K-12 curriculum. He also served as an assistant football coach for a team that made the state playoffs every year from 2008-10 and reached the quarterfinals in 2009. From 2005-08, Stillwell held the role of assistant athletic director at the school. Last January, Stillwell was a lecturer as the annual US Lacrosse Convention in Baltimore. He has worked with the Positive Coaching Alliance and is a co-sponsor with Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Stillwell has been the co-owner of the Atlanta Draw, a competitive U-13 travel lacrosse team, and he is the owner of Team and Outdoor Performance LLC, a company that specializes in designing team-oriented lacrosse camps and outdoor leadership trips. Stillwell is a 2001 graduate of Auburn University with a degree in political science. His coaching career began as an assistant football coach at Citrus High School in Inverness, Fla., in 2001, and he later served as head girls’ soccer coach and assistant football coach while teaching history and economics at Crystal River (Fla.) High School.

ASSISTANT COACH 1st SEASON Julia Braun, a 2011 Bucknell graduate and a two-time All-Patriot League midfielder, returned to the Bison women’s lacrosse program as an assistant coach in July 2013. Braun, who ranks seventh on Bucknell’s all-time points list, recently received her master’s degree in exercise physiology from Long Island University. Braun received the Dean’s Scholar Award for Academic Excellence while pursuing her graduate degree at LIU Brooklyn. At the same time she served as a graduate assistant coach with the Blackbirds’ women’s lacrosse team and also worked with the LIU strength and conditioning staff. Last summer Braun worked as a sports performance intern at Velocity Sports Performance in Mahwah, N.J., training elite and youth athletes. The Tomkins Cove, N.Y., native also has coaching experience with Stick2Stick Lacrosse in New Jersey. At Bucknell, Braun majored in biology and was a member of Patriot League Academic Honor Roll. She was a four-year starting midfielder for the Bison women’s lacrosse squad, and she earned Second Team All-Patriot League honors in 2009 and 2010. As a junior in 2010, Braun led the team in all six major statistical categories, making her one of only two players in the nation to accomplish that feat that season. She set career highs in goals (37) and points (47) in 2010 and was the No. 6 goal-scorer in the Patriot League. Braun ranks in the top 10 on Bucknell’s career charts in five different categories. She ranks sixth in goals (116), seventh in points (143), fifth in ground balls (132), second in draw controls (160) and third in caused turnovers (76). Her eight ground balls in a game against Lehigh in 2009 are tied for the school record.

BUCKNELL ATHLETICS HALL OF FAME
The Bucknell Athletics Hall of Fame was established in 1979 to recognize the very best in the history of Bucknell Athletics. The Hall of Fame now numbers 234 all-time Bison greats. Seven members of the Hall played for the women’s lacrosse team.
Tricia Way ‘94
Way was the first woman athlete in Bucknell history to earn allconference honors five times. She was a three-time All-Patriot League selection in women’s lacrosse and a two-time honoree in field hockey. She co-captained the 1993 field hockey team and was a two-year captain in lacrosse. As a midfielder in field hockey, she registered five goals and three assists and was the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete in 1992. Entered Hall of Fame with the Class of 2006.
Margaret Philleo Ricci ‘79
Ricci was one of Bucknell’s top woman athletes of her era, competing in field hockey, basketball and lacrosse. She played four years of lacrosse and as a junior was named to the All-Central Pennsylvania second team. Entered Hall of Fame with the Class of 2002.
Pam Heller Shassian ‘78
Shassian was one of the pioneers of the women’s varsity lacrosse program at Bucknell and served as the team’s co-captain her senior year. In addition, she played field hockey and basketball for the Bison. Entered Hall of Fame with the Class of 2000.
Sue Gray Behringer ‘84
One of the most prolific scorers in Bucknell women’s lacrosse history, Behringer graduated with eight school records, including most career goals (127). She was named All-East Coast Conference, and was invited to try out for the U.S. Women’s Lacrosse Association national team. She captained both the women’s lacrosse and field hockey teams while at Bucknell. Entered Hall of Fame with the Class of 1996.

Kathy Kline Grove ‘80
A four-year starter in field hockey and member of the women’s lacrosse team, Grove was a 1980 nominee for the Broderick Award, which honors the outstanding female collegiate athlete in the country. She still ranks second in Bucknell field hockey history with 46 career goals and 103 career points. Entered Hall of Fame with the Class of 1994.
Barbara Castens-Seidell ‘79
A co-captain of the basketball and field hockey teams and one of the first two women elected to the Hall of Fame, Castens-Seidell was also a member of the women’s lacrosse team at Bucknell. Entered Hall of Fame with the Class of 1985.

Karin Wegener Knisely ‘79
One of the first two women elected to the Hall of Fame, Knisely was Bucknell’s first three-sport (field hockey, basketball and lacrosse) captain in 40 years. She set scoring records in field hockey and lacrosse. Entered Hall of Fame with the Class of 1985.
