What is Bucks Xtra
By Emily West
June Xtra edition
After a difficult year, we are excited to have events running all week for you in Bucks Xtra week! This week we will be bringing you a series of training events, rec activities and events every evening to keep you entertained and hopefully make up slightly for all the experiences missed this year.
We kick off the Monday with our British Sign Language taster session where you can learn some basic sign language and decide whether this is something you would like to learn more of next academic year as we run levels 1, 2 and 3 sign language through the year. We also have tickets to the Art of Banksy exhibit in London completely free to you, but with limited spaces, make sure to visit our website and reserve your space.
On Tuesday enjoy a free trip to Go Ape in the beautiful Wendover Woods. Take on the Treetop Challenge. Test yourself – the longest crossing is 20 metres and the highest platform is a jaw-clenching 14 metres skywards. One thing is for sure, a day out to this course will leave you buzzing!
Wednesday we have the first of our face to face employability training sessions, with networking running in the morning. Learn more about this important skill and how to build up your own networks to help find a job when you graduate. We have also arranged a mini bus to take you to the Donkey Sanctuary in Wallingford where you can take some therapy time, learning about how they have been rescued and seeing how happy they are now. Thursday burn off some extra energy at Rush trampoline park! Reserve your free ticket to enjoy one hour of uninterrupted jump time with up to 5 of your friends.
To finish on Friday, we have time management running for you in the morning, or if you prefer something more active, get your free ticket to Lagoona park, where you get 50 minutes inflatable water park fun, before relaxing in the onsite bar overlooking the lake!
For full details of all our great evening events this week and to reserve your place on any of the above, please visit the What’s On page of our website.
In addition to these exciting opportunities, your University also has a diverse schedule of events running throughout the week, which you can find the timetable for online, bucks.ac.uk/bucks-xtra or on pages 4-5.
If you have any ideas or suggestions for training or rec activities you would like to see available next year, we would love to hear from you! Please either pop down to see us in the Students’ Union office or drop us an email at sutraining@bucks.ac.uk. Enjoy your Bucks Xtra week and make the most of it!
