Displaced/flood affected workers, job seekers and employers, mark your calendars. The Larimer County Workforce Center (LCWC) has expanded it’s fall Job fair to include all of Northern Colorado due to the number of displaced and flood-affected workers and businesses throughout the region. Employers from Larimer, Boulder, Weld, and beyond are invited to connect with candidates from a wide variety of industries and experience levels. The Longmont Quilt Guild is excited to announce their Sixth Annual Quilt Show & Boutique, Friday, Oct. 18, 5-8 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 19, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. in Barn A of the Boulder County Fairgrounds, Longmont Colo. Admission is $5 for the show; children under 12 are free. There is no charge for entry to our boutique of quilted items for sale. The show features over 130 quilts made by Guild members, as well as antique quilt bed turnings by Jeananne Wright, mini-classes/demonstrations, Viewer’s Choice balloting in nine categories, a Children’s Corner, and exhibits highlighting the Guild’s Outreach activities. Meals on Wheels of Loveland and Berthoud is having our annual fundraising event, “Nite at the Races,” which will take place Nov, 2 from 6 to 10 p.m. It will be held at the Fountains of Loveland Event Center. Ticket cost is $50 and can be bought at the Meals on Wheels Office (437 Garfield Ave.) or on our website www. lovelandmealsonwheels.org. We will be having dinner (appetizer, entree, dessert), live and silent auctions, and the most exciting part, pre-recorded horse races that can be bet on with “funny money” which is all included in the ticket price. Most importantly, all the money raised will be used to support Meals on Wheels of Loveland and Berthoud, so we can continue cooking and delivering meals to home-bound seniors in our area. Tickets and tables are available for Larimer Humane Society’s Top Cat & Tails Gala, “Catsino Royale.” The event, to be held Saturday, Oct. 12 at Embassy Suites Loveland, is Larimer Humane Society’s largest fundraiser of the year, helping to celebrate and support the thousands of companion, exotic and barnyard animals the shelter cares for each year. The 17th Annual Secret Santa’s for the Elderly is currently seeking volunteers. The purpose of the Santa’s is to bring a smile and feeling of love and encouragement to elderly by providing a loving visitor. Volunteers will be paired with an adopted resident living in a nursing or assisted living home in Larimer County. A list is also provided if you’d like to take a simple gift along. Select Flood Victim Relief under “Give to.” All money given will be used for our church families and those that come to the food bank that need assistance.
