Multipurpose Room
Join us on October 17 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., as we learn about Native American culture. Henry Quick Bear Sr., Native Spiritual Leader, will discuss his background and his role within the Native American community. Leon Leader Charge, a Native American Treatment Specialist, will present his research on expanding culturally-appropriate, evidencebased best practices regarding substance abuse, suicide prevention, healing from trauma, and the betterment of all tribal nations and communities. Registration is required for this free event.

Holocaust Survivor

Tova Friedman is one of the youngest Holocaust survivors of the Auschwitz concentration camp and one of only five Jewish children who survived the Holocaust from the Polish town of Tomashov. After reuniting with her parents, Friedman moved to the United States where she would serve as executive director of Jewish Family Service. Today, Friedman is active on the social media platform TikTok with her grandson Aron Goodman and shares her story with audiences across the country.

A Community Sing Event

The Justice Choir Songbook is a powerful new collection of songs for the issues of our time. The BVU Concert Choir and Vista Chamber Singers will lead group singing of selections from the Justice Choir Songbook. There will also be performances of additional choral music with the aim of inspiring conversations about how we can best support one another in our communities and beyond. Clay S. Jenkinson is one of the nation’s leading interpreters of Thomas Jefferson and other historical figures. Jenkinson has performed before Supreme Court justices, presidents, and countless public, corporate, and student audiences. He has dedicated the better part of his life to researching the historical characters that he portrays and to bringing back and defining the “living theatre” of Chautauqua, which also emphasizes education with audience participation.

Alex Maher, Product Design Manager and Senior Character Artist at Disney Creative Design at Walt Disney World, will spend two weeks working with students in the BVU Art Gallery. In addition to the open studio, BVU will host a gallery exhibit and reception with Maher that will showcase his work with character design.

Come celebrate with us at the completion and installation of BVU’s first mosaic mural designed and created by the Zacatlan Mosaic Mural Artisans in collaboration with BVU students.
