Our scholarships and grant awards are extraordinary, and we continue to invest in you beyond your financial aid package: • Every freshman receives a laptop computer; • Tech support so the laptop continues to work well for homework, research, scholarship, projects, communication, and presentations; • Some costs for study abroad underwritten by the University; • Additional stipends available for study abroad, research, service learning trips, and off-campus internships; • Dining plan meals you would miss when traveling can turn into meal stipends; • Competitive grants fund research, internships, and the travel and fees associated with conferences; • Generous faculty grants keep your professors growing and expanding opportunities for you, expanding our study trip options, professional conferences, and research or creative projects.
At first glance, private college can look out of reach. Look a little longer and you’ll see many ways to make the extraordinary community, learning, and opportunities of BVU possible. Our experienced and patient financial aid counselors will walk you through every step of building the best aid package, confidentially and thoroughly. Almost all BVU freshmen receive some kind of financial aid. Buena Vista distributes more than $12.5 million in aid every year. The average award in 2012 was $27,093, of which $19,269 was gift aid (is not a loan or work study). Of course, this is not a guaranteed award and every student’s package is different. Your aid package is designed to continue for all four years, and during that time you can receive additional awards from the Honors Program and the Dean’s Fellowship Programs. These additional awards provide travel stipends and funding for research and conference presentations.
