THAI TWIN CHEFS BRING EXTRA SERVING OF AUTHENTIC FLAVOURS TO BÜRGENSTOCK HOTELS & RESORT LAKE LUCERNE

Spices Kitchen & Terrace at the Bürgenstock Resort Lake Lucerne welcomes twin chefs, Virat and Vilai Kanjan, to the award-winning pan-Asian restaurant boasting four open kitchens dedicated to Chinese, Japanese, Indian and Thai cuisine. The dynamic Thai-born bring the authentic flavours of Asia, honed to perfection in the world’s finest resorts, to Switzerland. With over 70 years’ experience combined working as chefs, the skillful sisters have an unrivalled knowledge of Asian cuisine.

Having previously worked her way up to Head Chef level, Virat’s 36-year career has taken her around the globe, gaining the highest level of experience and skills at The Peninsula Bangkok, Schloss Elmau, Mandarin Oriental Chiang Mai and across the Shangri-La group. She is known for translating the complex spices and aromas that form the foundation of Asian cooking, into innovative and mouth-watering menus.

Vilai’s 35-year career path has taken her on an equally enriching journey, at times working alongside her twin sister. She brings with her experience working for Asia-Pacific’s popular Star Cruises, The Landmark Hotel Bangkok and Le Meridien Bangkok. She has a flair for the visual presentation of each dish, and excels at intricate fruit and vegetable carvings to add a spectacular flourish.

Together, Virat and Vilai bring their extensive knowledge and passion for Asian cuisine to Spices Kitchen & Terrace. Guests even have the opportunity to watch the talented twins working in tandem, during live cooking masterclasses. Located in the 5* superior Bürgenstock Hotel & Alpine Spa, the restaurant features Chinese, Japanese, Indian and Thai dishes cooked authentically in original tandoors, woks, duck oven and dim sum steamer each by Specialist chefs dedicated to each cuisine.

Standout dishes include ‘Yam Som O Poo Nim; pomelo, soft shell crab and cashew’, ‘Masaman curry with Swiss prime beef and sweet potato’ and ‘Phad Pla Salmon Prise Thai Duam – Swiss Alpine Salmon with black pepper’, as profiled by renowned gourmet guide, Gault & Millau.

The design of Spices reflects the concept of a pan-Asian restaurant with sleek lines and warm tones. Overhanging Lake Lucerne, the floor to ceiling glass windows maximizes the serene views stretching to the peak of Pilatus, Rigi and Lake Lucerne
