2019 Bolingbrook and Romeoville saw many changes and improvements, such as decreased speed limit, Hot Wheels Legends and the celebration of 65 years of White Fence Farm. Here is a breakdown of some of the events shaped our community this past year.

Bolingbrook decreaseed speed limit

The Romeoville Village Board has approved a recommendation by the Police Department to decrease the speed limit on portions of six village roads. The changes are all a decrease of five miles per hour. “The village manager asked me to look into the speed limits to review on what we thought of the current speeds,” said Romeoville Police Chief Mark Turvey. The six village roads that will be affected are: Normantown Road (Montrose Dr. to Weber Rd.), 135th Street (New Ave. to Rt. 53), Taylor Road (Rt. 53 for 0.5 miles west), Taylor Road (Southcreek Pkwy. to Weber Rd.), Southcreek Parkway (Chicago Tube Dr. to 0.25 miles east of Pinnacle Dr.) and Airport Road (0.5 miles west of Weber Rd. to Frontage Rd.).

Finally First, Alex Bowman wins firstever Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series

For the first time in his brief history being a professional NASCAR racer, 26-year-old Alex Bowman held off a late push by Kyle Larson to claim his first-ever Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series win by .546-seconds. After being passed by Larson, Bowman reclaimed the lead in the final six laps off the race to hold onto the Camping World 400 at Chicagoland Speedway. “I’m pretty speechless. I feel like I kind of just want to get home and enjoy it with my friends,” Bowman said. “It’s something that I’ve wanted my whole life, and now that we won one race, I don’t really know what to do with myself a little bit. Bowman, driver of the No. 88 Axalta Chevrolet Camaro for Hendrick Motorsport, didn’t let Mother Nature dictate the outcome of his performance, with a weather delay that lasted for more than three hours.

District explores Century Park expansion

The Bolingbrook Park District held a community meeting at the Bolingbrook Recreation & Aquatic Complex to further discuss the development plans on Century Park.

Century Park was built in 2000, with the open space land acquisition and development was stalled because a grant that was just missed in 2014. Now, the open space at 1675 Apple Valley Drive in Bolingbrook has a playground and soccer fields, but adding 60 to 70 trees among other amenities are the focus going forward. Pathways, accessibility items and features that will make the park more interactive for everyone was the topic among some of the community members, with wheel chair accessibility also being a top priority. Another hot topic at the community meeting was more outdoor fitness including the sport Pickleball, which will be implemented if the grant gets passed going forward. Depending on the state grant cycle, if it goes through, then the planning will come to fruition. When traveling to the IDNR, Oesteich and others who present will have five minutes to state their case, and then will wait to hear back to see if the grant is awarded to them in January. Even though that Century Park is the only park that will be completely renovated for the entirety, the Bolingbrook Park District will also be replacing 21 playgrounds over the next five years due to the pass of the recent referendum.

Romeoville hosts Hot Wheels Legends tour

Hot Wheels have excited fans since they came out in 1968. Made by American toy maker Mattel, Hot Wheels have made scale models of their cars, allowing original design blueprints and detailing. In 2018, Hot Wheels started searching the country for the passionate custom automotive builders in the inaugural Hot Wheels Legends Tour. The tour spanned 15 states, attracted 3,600 custom builds and more than 65,000 fans. At each stop along the tour, 15 finalists were chosen — one from each location — but in the end, only one person walked away with the In 2019, Steve Zettle had a chance to be just that. Zettle won 2019’s contest that was held at the Romeoville Walmart location on Weber Road. Zettle, who sported a ’65 Pontiac GTO, is now part of the collective winners group that will make a trip to the 2019

SEMA Show in Las Vegas. In 2019, three additional cities were added to the country tour, with the show gaining more popularity. At each city, builds are judged by a talented team of judges consisting of Hot Wheels designers and automotive influencers, who select one finalist from each stop based on the criteria of authenticity, creativity and garage spirit. They each are judged side-by-side to determine a grand prizewinner. The chosen car also gets inducted into the Hot Wheels Garage of Legends, a collection of one-of-a-kind cars that embody the brand’s challenger spirit and legendary design. Zettle said his GTO took around four years to build that was only done by him — fueling his love for his car. Zettle said the design of his car was very important for him to model it after the ‘old school look’ that his dad taught him growing up watching drag car racing. After Zettle’s car was announced as the winner, he had the opportunity to drive it and show it off in front of all the fans by the Hot Wheels poster board. With Zettle’s car eventually going up against the best cars in the nation, he said he looked forward to the challenge and he was excited for the past opportunity.

Comicopolis event takes place at White Oak Library

The fifth annual Comicopolis event officially took place at the White Oak Library District’s Lockport branch this past Saturday. With a crowd that almost doubled in size from last year to the 1,925 fans who showed up this year, Lockport branch manager Patrica Jarog said this is an event people travel to from all over the country. Spiderman, Wolverine, Deadpool, Batman and Ironman among others were just some of the many costumes that showed up to Comicopolis. After completing her internship at Argo High School at the end of last school year, Kristen Shimko was looking for a job. She went into Morton College in Cicero looking for a position as an academic advisor and ended up landing that position as well as head women’s basketball coach. In her first head coaching position, Shimko takes over a Panthers’ program that went 16-15 last season. The 25-yearold Plainfield North graduate was an assistant on the 22-4 Argo girls team while completing her internship. Just because she has never held a formal head coaching position does not mean Shimko is new to the ranks. She competed for four years at Concordia University Chicago, was an all-Southwest Prairie Conference selection at Plainfield North High School in 2012 and has been around the game since birth. Shimko’s father, George, runs the George Shimko Basketball School, which he opened in 1994. Kristen coached in his program for a decade.

Street Outlaw comes to Route 66 Raceway

On August 9-10, the No. 1 rated cable television show “Street Outlaws” came to shoot their reality television show at Route 66 Raceway. With 13 seasons to date, with the first show airing June 10, 2013, “Street Outlaws” has taken the country by storm. An American reality television series about street racing, it provides an inside look into the action both on the road and behind the scenes. In Oklahoma City, racers proclaim having the fastest streetcars in the entire country, and the racing, drivers say, comes first before family friends and work. Some of the cast includes: Big Chief, Ryan Martin, Daddy Dave, Jeff Lutz, Murder Nova, Doc, Monza, Chuck, Dominator and Shane.

County Clerk begins accepting credit, debit card payments from customers

Currently, there is an estimated 1.27 billion credit and debit cards in use. Americans configure roughly 183 million people who do have credit cards. Now, Will County Clerk Lauren Staley Ferry’s office has begun accepting credit card or debit card payments from visitors who purchase copies of birth, marriage, or death certificates. Staley-Ferry had promised to modernize operations in the interest of convenience for local taxpayers before she took office a year ago. One of her first steps after the Consolidated Election was to open discussions with GovPayNet, an Indianapolis-based company that is a leader in accepting credit and debit card payments on behalf of government agencies. Previously having to deny customers because they did not accept credit or debit cards, too go along with having a $4 service fee for the ATM, Staley-Ferry is excited about the change that has taken place. After finalizing an agreement with GovPayNet and organizing the training of her staff, the County Clerk began accepting credit and debit card payments on two weeks ago. The first visitor to use a credit card Friday morning was Ashley Granlund, who came to the Clerk’s Office to pick up copies of her marriage certificate. Though credit and debit cards are now accepted, it still comes with a tiny price. Cardholders pay a small service fee at the time of their transaction, which is $1.50 for payments of up to $50, and it increases as the purchase amount rises. The fee schedule is clearly posted at every customer

GovPayNet accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover, and GovPayNet also has a fully staffed, bilingual call center available around the clock for customers convenience. With more than one million cardholders annually make payments to more than 2,000 agencies in more than 40 states through GovPayNet, the company processes nearly $200 million annually in payments to government agencies.

A little more love foundation held at Bolingbrooks Bar Louie

The night of April 26, everything changed for the Dickerson family. Candice was going about her everyday life on that spring day, then in a Metro PCS store at 59th and Kedzie in Gage Park, the mother of three was shot in the head while in front of her 10-and-12-year-old sons. She was shopping for a cell phone for her son for his accomplishments in the classroom when a stray bullet from gang gunfire went through the window of the store, killing the 36-year-old. Warren started ‘A Little More Love’, a foundation started on behalf of Dickerson whose goal is to provide a $500 stipend to any child left behind due to gun violence. Two men that were charged in the murder — 24-year-old Marco Zabala who provided the gun to 23-year-old Bryant Mitchell. Prosecutors said Mitchell and Zabala were targeting rival gang members when Mitchell began shooting on the corner of 59th and Kedzie, and investigators said surveillance video caught Mitchell pointing a gun and firing four shots.

Local to represent U.S.A in Ecuador karate tourney

Enzo Floresca, a young man out of Bolingbrook, seems to not have any limits. After winning a silver medal in Kumite at the USA National Karate-do Federation at the Schaumburg Convention Center in July, bigger goals are in mind. Training in the morning with his teammates, by himself and running everyday, the workload was a lot, but well worth the blood, sweat and tears. For an entire weekend, the competition for the one-on-one sparring Floresca did, was one day, which is what he qualified for in an age range from 14 to 15. Something that Floresca has taken pride in for all of his years of doing karate is his determination. In this year’s tournament, Floresca said the final match was against someone from his own club, and it wasn’t a sure thing he would advance to Ecuador. Because of the wide range of different competitions at the tournament, Floresca said that he enjoyed the big stage, and how many people were there. Floresca, who is a second-degree black belt, has participated in karate for 10 years, training for moments like these. After winning the silver medal in Schaumburg, Floresca said that was just the start of an even bigger agenda. Last August, Floresca qualified to represent the U.S.A. in the Pan American Karate Federation Continental Championships in Guayaquil, Ecuador.

Lipinski Announced $3.3M FAA Grant for Lewis University Airport

Congressman Dan Lipinski (IL-3) announced in 2019 that Lewis University Airport in Romeoville has been awarded a $3.3 million federal grant from the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Improvement Program (AIP) to reconstruct Taxiway B, the airport’s main artery. In 1989, The Joliet Regional Port District assumed ownership of the airport. The Director of Aviation for Joliet Regional Port District, Chris Lawson, said that the Lewis University Airport is just like many other airports in the country, it is dependent on grants for renovation. Lewis University Airport (KLOT) is one of the top five busiest airports in the state and is located near three major interstate highways in a fast-growing region. The Airport is home to 150 aircrafts that include ten corporate jets, with annual aircraft operations of more than 100,000. Taxiway B is the oldest pavement surface still in service at

3

the airport. The initial phase of its construction has dated back to 1991, when it was constructed for smaller 12,500-pound aircraft weights then using the airport. With the growth of corporation aviation activity at KLOT, aircraft weighing 75,000 pounds now regularly uses the taxiway, which is severely distressed from heavy use and aircraft weight. The $3.3 million federal grant completes the three-phase tear-out and reconstruction of Taxiway B, the airport’s most important pavement surface supporting the airport’s two corporate runways. The federal grant money will also support updated taxiway lighting. Every year, the District goes to Springfield where the FAA and IDOT meet. The District takes its lists of requests down to a panel, where they can each be surveyed and discussed for future evaluation. One of the more pressing issues that Lawson said on the request sheet was the $3.3 million grant they have now received. Construction is expected to begin in May 2020, for completion in September 2020. In the meantime, the airport will remain open throughout construction to serve its tenants and visitors.

White Fence Farm celebrates 65-year anniversary

For 65 years, the White Fence Farm restaurant has been in the family of Laura Hastert. The original White Fence Farm location is in Romeoville, where it was established in the early 1920s on US Route 66. Founded by Stuyvesant ‘Jack’ Peabody, son of Peabody Coal Company founder Francis S. Peabody and himself CEO of Peabody Coal at the time, opened on a 12-acre plot that Jack Peabody owned across U.S. Route 66/Joliet Road from his 450-acre Lemont horse farm where thoroughbred racehorses were bred, boarded and trained. More than 60 years later, 10 dining rooms have been added on top of 500 parking spaces, a lobby area full of games, grandfather clocks and an antique car museum. The pasture, which is located right next to the restaurant in Romeoville, is also an open area to pet and feed Alpacas, mini goats, pet chickens or cows. With more than 40,000 customers that came in the first few months of White Fence Farm opening, numbers since then have skyrocketed. Now, more than 40,000 pounds of chicken in a month gets used, and the restaurant can seat 1,100 people in 12 different dining rooms. On an average week, White Fence Farm sells 7,000-8,000 chicken dinners, goes through 80,000 pounds of potatoes each year, has the chickens shipped from Georgia on a daily basis and provides not only food, but entertainment in a show room as well. Though the 65 years have had ups and downs, being one of a kind restaurant is something that Hastert said keeps her going everyday.

Marijuana prohibited in Bolingbrook

While Illinois Governor J.B Pritzker has signed legislation that makes recreational marijuana legal in Illinois, Bolingbrook will not participate in that movement. The bill allowing possession and sales to begin on Jan. 1 that was approved by the House and Senate, makes Illinois the 11th state to legalize cannabis and the first state in which a legislature approved commercial sales. Under the law, recreational cannabis can be sold to anyone over the age of 21 and consumed in private homes and business starting next year. Although marijuana will be available over the counter to more than 12 million people in Illinois, Bolingbrook had a different agenda in mind about the heavily talked about topic. With five out of the six board of trustees voting against the legalization of marijuana, Claar said he made the recommendation, but did not collaborate with the trustees on making the decision.

This fall, students in the A.Vito

Martinez Middle School Viking Honor Society have been busy with a flurry of fundraising activities. Among those activities was a change drive that collected over $1000. The top fundraisers visited the Bolingbrook Meijer at the Promenade to select Christmas gifts for children in need in our community. The students selected gifts for children based on age and gender within a spending limit of funds from the Honor Society fundraising activities. The shopping skills of AVM 8th graders Alexia Zwolinski and Grace Perricone were especially impressive as they used their

math knowledge to get the most mileage out of their allotment. Watch the video on vvsd. org for a lesson in effective shopping techniques and to understand the appreciation the students have for how their selections impact kids here in our community. The AVM Viking Honor Society faculty sponsors are Mrs. Maghan Amodei and Mr. Clark Comstock and guided their students to raise $5000 this fall.

part 1i: a look back at the local sports stories that shaped the area in 2019 from July to december Charlie Donovan Baseball Player of the Year For a Plainfield Central team that finished one game away from advancing to the state finals, it was senior first baseman Jac Lindish that led the way all season. Lindish led the team in hits (38), RBI (32) and home runs (5) and tied for team-high with seven doubles, while posting a .392 batting average and an OPS of 1.097. What he earned this season was the honor of being named the 2019 Voyager Media Charlie Donovan Baseball Player of the Year. The award is named for the former Westmont standout who was a threetime Voyager Media Player of the Year and died in November of 2015. Lindish led the Wildcats on a run that saw them beat Oswego 8-7 and Naperville Central 10-7 in the regional round. In the sectional, Central defeated rival Plainfield South 6-3 and Neuqua Valley 11-4 in the sectional. Lindish was one of seniors leaving the Central roster that has worked

the program to a super sectional contender.

Home Run Derby The Major League Baseball home run derby saw record-setting performances this season from the Dodgers’ Joc Pederson and Blue Jay Vladimir Guerrero Jr., but locally, it was another slugger that got to hit in prime time. Plainfield’s Logan Huegel, an 11-year-old student from Heritage Grove, took place in the finals of the MLB MLB Jr. Home Run Derby Saturday, July 6 at Progressive Field in Cleveland. He competed in the 12u age group. The competitors knew they would meet some of MLB’s top stars, but Huegel said he was able to meet the game’s top player, Angles outfielder Mike Trout. Huegel placed sixth out of the 10 hitters in the derby at the 225-foot fences. After he hit, Huegel was able to attend the MLB Home Run Derby, the

Hall of Famers The Joliet Area Sports Hall of Fame committee has announced its 2019 class, which took place on Saturday, September 14 at the Joliet Area Historical Museum. Joining the previous 67 inductees in this past year’s 12th class were Jane Condon, Ron Coomer, Ned Grabavoy and “Mack” McLaughlin. Condon, one of the first female star athletes in the area, lettered in five sports at the former St. Francis Academy before going on to earn another 11 letters in four sports at thenLewis College. An inductee into each of those schools’ Halls of Fame, Condon led her prep basketball team to a perfect 27-0 record her first two seasons, while averaging 18.0 points per game. In track & field, she qualified for state in the discus competition. Condon was also a part of St. Francis’ inaugural softball and tennis teams, driving in 59 runs that first season in

Thursday, January 2, 2020 | buglenewspapers.com the former sport. Coomer, the current radio analyst for the Chicago Cubs on WSCR 670 AM, turned in a nine-year major league career that saw him play for four teams – Minnesota Twins, New York Yankees, Chicago Cubs and Los Angeles Dodgers – and produce a .274 career batting average with 827 hits, 92 home runs and 449 runs batted in as both a first and third baseman. The Lockport High School graduate was an All-Star with Minnesota in 1999 and went on to become the Twins’ television analyst after his playing career ended. Grabavoy, a product of the Chicago Magic Soccer Club, played 13 seasons of professional soccer in the MLS donning five different jerseys with the majority of his time spent with Real Salt Lake. The 2000-01 Gatorade National High School Player of the Year, Grabavoy led Lincoln-Way High School to two straight IHSA state championship game appearances. He then went on to Indiana University, where he was the leading scorer for the Hoosiers’ 2003 national championship team, which earned him consensus first-team All-American honors. McLaughlin served as the head wrestling coach at Joliet Central High School for 40 years, compiling a 507192-9 record during that four-decade span. He also led the Steelmen to a dualteam title in 1985 as well as runnerup honors the following year. A 1991 inductee into the Illinois Wrestling Coaches Association Hall of Fame, McLaughlin recently earned the Lifetime Service Award from the National Wrestling Hall of Fame – Illinois Chapter. “Baseball’s Forgotten Black Heroes” Retirement plans vary from person to person. For Bill Leibforth, there is no taking a break during retirement. A resident of Chicago his entire life, he fell in love with baseball at the age of eight and the game has always been a big priority in his life. He authored the book “Baseball’s Forgotten Black Heroes” and discussed it recently at the Lisle Library, Leibforth’s book is centered about

how Jackie Robinson changed baseball forever, and the 17 players that followed in his footsteps. Leibforth said that the difference from today’s game to back when he was a kid has changed immensely, but the love he developed from an early age has kept his motivation to watch the game still alive. Fifty-cent bleacher seats, players playing for the love of the game and getting autographs in the parking lot from players were all things Leibforth said he enjoyed as a kid. Robinson, who became the first African American to play in the MLB in the modern era, broke the color line when he started at first base for the Brooklyn Dodgers on April 15, 1947. “Jackie was an American hero,” Leibforth said. “Some of the things he was called, how much scrutiny he had and to still be as great as he was is truly incredible.” What followed Robinson was a group of players Leibforth said that most avid baseball fans don’t even know. Educating the public and becoming more knowledgeable about the history of the game is something he said he wants his reader’s to get from the book, while understanding the importance Robinson and the ones who followed had on American history. “Willard Brown, John Kennedy and Bob Trice are just a few guys I really tried to highlight because of the large impact they all made,” Leibforth said. “I mentioned some of the other guys in the book as well, but these few individuals had amazing stories.” Brown, played briefly in the major leagues in 1947, where he and Hank Thompson played against the Boston Red Sox which was the first time that two back players appeared in an MLB game together. Kennedy, made his big league debut on April 22, 1957, becoming the first black player in the history of the Philadelphia Phillies organization. Trice, made his big league debut on September 13, 1953, became the first black player in the history of the Philadelphia Athletics organization, now the Oakland Athletics. “All of those guys just have a profound impact on baseball and American history,” Leibforth said. “I just hope that this book can shed some light on a little more truth with all of these players, what they endured and how they changed baseball and America forever.”

Gary Bell returned to Will County When January rolls around, Vince Carter will become the first player in National Basketball Association history to play in the league in four dif-

ferent decades. In 2016, Chicago native Kevin Garnett retired from the NBA as a 15time All Star, 2004 NBA Most Valuable Player and 2008 NBA Champion. In 1995, those two, along with Terrance Roberson, Ron Mercer and Stephon Marbury made up the Street & Smith’s High School All-American First Team. The five of them went on to combine for more than 50 years in the NBA. On that same list of the top 20 prep players in the nation was Joliet’s Gary Bell. The 6-foot, 4-inch high school standout was on the Street & Smith Third Team that season. He finished behind Garnett as Illinois Mr. Basketball, and went on to play at the University of Notre Dame. After a myriad of injuries and misinformed decisions, Bell retired from playing professionally in 2003 without ever reaching his goal of playing in the NBA. Bell has spent time as a high school basketball and football coach, administrator and special education coordinator in North Carolina and Virginia. Now, he is ready to devote his time back to his game and his community — his Joliet community. Bell hosted his Skill over Politics Elite 80 Skill Evaluation Showcase Nov. 2 at Romeoville High School – where his grade school teammate and lifelong friend Marc Howard is the head boys basketball coach. The event included players from the high school graduating classes of 2022-2028.

Benet Champions As if winning the IHSA Class 2A soccer championship wasn’t enough, the way Benet Academy won was unprecedented. The Redwings defeated Crystal Lake South 2-0 – the eighth consecutive shutout of the playoffs, leaving Benet unscored upon the entire postseason run. In the 11 years of the three-class system, no Class 2A champion has ever blanked every opponent from the regional opener through a championship. In the state championship match this past season, Benet had nine saves from Vyto Staniskis, who tallied 38 total saves in the playoffs. Last season, as Benet Academy volleyball placed third in the state in Class 4A, then-junior Colleen McGuire was not on the floor at Redbird Arena. After playing on the lower levels her first two seasons at Benet, McGuire decided not to play last season in order to focus on training for her future in beach volleyball, which she will play next season at the Uni-

versity of California-Davis. On Friday night, she finished off rival Marist to send the Redwings to the state championship match against Wheaton Warrenville South and on Saturday, she got the final point in the 25-12, 25-16 victory over Wheaton Warrenville South to earn Benet the state title.

Lehr, Ranallo lead All-Area After the success it had in 2018 football season, and with several key players returning, Minooka knew this season could be special. The Indians rolled off 11 straight wins, claiming the Southwest Prairie Conference West Division title with a win at Oswego and winning a pair of playoff games before falling at Brother Rice in the quarterfinals. In the win over Oswego to complete a perfect regular season, it was a late game touchdown drive led by senior quarterback Seth Lehr. It was that leadership, accompanied by his stats, that makes Lehr the 2019 Enterprise Publications Football Offensive Player of the Year. On the season, Lehr completed 137 of 197 pass attempts, good for a 70 percent completion percentage. He recorded 1,893 yards and threw for 16 touchdowns and only four interceptions – a passer rating of 117. On the ground, Lehr carried the football 101 times for 356 yards and eight scores. He was named to the Illinois High School Football Coaches Association Class 8A All-State First Team. When the season ended for Notre Dame College Prep, it did so at the hands of eventual Class 8A state champion Lincoln-Way East, it did not end without a fight – especially by the vaunted Dons defense. East won 23-13 but the Dons defense battled through short fields and facing the top-rated player in the state and blanked the Griffins in the second half. That defense allowed an average of 11.7 points per game of the season, holding its opponents to seven points or less five times and one shutout. At the center of that defense was 6-foot, 190-pound senior linebacker Anthony Ranallo who posted a total of 107 tackles for the season, 24 tackles for loss, eight sacks, two forced fumbles, one interception and a pair of pass breakups. For his stats and leadership on a talented defense, Ranallo was tabbed as Enterprise Publications 2019 Football Defensive Player of the Year.

Dave Says: Starting off on the right path together couples have a high probability of a successful marriage if they agree on kids, money, religion, and in-laws dear dave, I’m getting married next summer. My fiancé and I are in agreement about how to handle money, and we both follow your plan. Do you recommend pre-marital counseling? If so, what do you feel are some of the important areas of agreement for couples before they get married?

dear allison,

allison

Congratulations! I’m glad you’re both on the same page with your finances, too. I’ve worked with thousands of couples and numerous marriage counselors over the years. In that time, I’ve learned fights over money—and the resulting problems from those disagreements—are probably the biggest cause of divorce in America. In my opinion, in-depth pre-marital coun-

seling is an absolute must. The idea of entering into something that’s supposed to be a lifelong commitment, without thoroughly addressing all the issues—and potential issues—is a really bad idea. With that said, it’s been my experience that couples have a high probability of a successful marriage if they agree on four things, in detail, before the big day—kids, money, religion, and in-laws. With kids, the big question is do you want them? If so, how many and when? Are you going to let them run wild, or are you going to provide structure and make them behave? When it comes to money, something it sounds like you two are already in agreement on, get all your cards out on the table, and construct an intelligent game plan for your finances that you both agree on. Staying away from debt, living on a

On the eve of the 12-year anniversary of the day Stacy Peterson disappeared, her sister, Cassandra Cales, was at the Bolingbrook Community Center to help others search for missing loved ones. Peterson, the then 23-year-old Bolingbrook mother of two, went missing On Oct. 27, 2007. Cales, who has never given up her search, donned a purple T-Shirt with a photo of Stacy, as she was on hand to meet with families going through their own searches. The gathering was part of the October meeting of the Community Cold Case Squad, Bolingbrook – an organization that started in January to help those looking for missing loved ones and Cales wants to be able to use what she has gone through to assist others. While she is helping others, Cales does not plan to stop looking for Stacy – event after 12 years or despite the fact that the man they suspect killed her, former Bolingbrook police sergeant Drew Peterson, is in prison for the murder of his third wife, Kathleen Savio, as well as soliciting the murder of James Glasgow, the Will County prosecutor who put him behind bars.

written, monthly budget, and saving for the future are important parts of this. Also, be in agreement on religion. Statistically speaking, two people from the same faith have a better chance of making a marriage work. And finally, when it comes to your future in-laws, you need to learn who they are and what you’re getting into. What are they really like? What are the boundaries when it comes to their influence on your lives? All these topics should be discussed at length, dealt with, and agreed upon before the rings are exchanged. God bless you two, Allison!

Jeff mudgett speaks about his great-great grandfather, h.h. holmes Imagine you are a direct descendent of the devil himself. For Jeff Mudgett, there is no need to imagine. For the first 40 years of his life Mudgett, a California lawyer and former Commander in the U.S. Naval Reserve, knew he wasn’t like everyone else. His questions of why he was different were answered more than 20 years ago when Mudgett found out he is the great-great grandson of H.H. Holmes – America’s first serial killer. He learned the secret at a family gathering. His grandmother, who was fascinated with family genealogy, was talking about her theory that they were related Gen. Robert E. Lee when his grandfather broke his silence of 60 years.
