@RyanOstry_BR18 rostry@buglenewspapers.com With spooky season officially in full effect, the city of Plainfield is getting in on the fun. The Plainfield Park District is hosting a twoday event on Oct. 25 and 26 called “Haunted Hayrides Scaring Up Chills”. “We used to do some years ago but this is the first time we’ve done it in quite awhile,” said Communications Coordinator Brock Stein. “We’re hoping that after this year it becomes very successful again so it can become an annual event for our community.” The event that is located at Eaton Preserve, 23601 W. 135th Street is not just available for kids, but for teens and adults as well. A family friendly version of the haunted hayride will run from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. both of those nights, and then a more traditional and scarier version for teens and adults will run from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. both nights as well. There will be eight scenes for those in attendance to enjoy, including a haunted playground, a cemetery, a scene of witches, a haunted campground, trapped individuals, scary clowns, mad scientists and creepy holiday characters. “We have a lot of kids from local high schools who are volunteering to participate as zombies and people who are out in the field to provide the scares for those who attend,” Stein said.
