Utilities will be upgraded in Village Green neighborhood One of oldest parts of city to get upgrades BY BRIAN STANLEY Enterprise Staff @plainfieldnews bstanley@buglenewspapers.com
PLAINFIELD — For the second year in a row, the village will be digging up streets and sidewalks in the Village Green neighborhood. Since its one of the oldest parts of town, some of the underground utilities in the area were installed over a century ago. Last year the village completed the lining of the sanitary sewer mains and sewer services. This summer crews will replace the water mains and storm sewer. “We’re going to replace just under one mile of water main...and a mile of storm sewer,” Director of Public Works Allen Persons said. The village board awarded the $2.75 million contract to “D” Construction, Inc. on March 4. Six bids were submitted to the village. Mains and sewer will be replaced south of Lockport Street, west of Route 59 and east of James Street. SEE VILLAGE GREEN PAGE 4
