Road to Reality designed to shock kids sober Scenarios set to mimic what could happen at post-event parties set to teach kids the reality of drunk driving BY BRIAN STANLEY Bugle Staff @BugleNewspapers bstanley@buglenewspapers.com
After the scenarios ended at “The Road to Reality,” the drunks sobered up, the dead teens rose again, the parents stopped sobbing and the guilty were set free. But if the presentation showing the effects of drunken driving caused one person to make a better decision because reality doesn’t have a reset button — it got the point across. With proms and graduations taking place over the next few weeks, many parties have been scheduled. On April 18, Plainfield North High School hosted junior high and high school students and parents to watch live-action portrayals of teens driving drunk. “We continue to do this program each year to give parents and students a way to talk about this this issue,” Plainfield North High School Catalyst Coordinator Tami Curry said, “In the end we want adolescents to not drink alcohol and get behind the wheel of a vehicle, and anything we can do to help achieve that goal is worth doing.” Plainfield police called the program “a SEE REALITY PAGE 11
